Chapter 566: Chapter 566: Going to the Ling Family Old Mansion
Luo Ziling had finished washing up and taken a shower when he came downstairs dressed, Ling Ruonan had already prepared breakfast.
“Ling’er, how’s your injury?” Ling Ruonan asked with concern, “Did you sleep well last night?”
“Mom, the medicine Grandpa and I concocted works really well; the swelling has completely subsided and it doesn’t hurt anymore,” Luo Ziling said as he sat down at the dining table, ready for breakfast.
He was already hungry, and his stomach couldn’t help but growl at the sight of the delicious food Ling Ruonan had prepared.
But Ling Ruonan was not reassured and had Luo Ziling take off his clothes so she could personally check his back. Once she was certain the swelling had truly subsided, she felt at ease.
After breakfast, Ling Ruonan changed her clothes, dressing herself very gracefully and intelligently, before personally supervising Luo Ziling as he changed.
She didn’t have Luo Ziling dress too formally but chose a sweater and black casual pants for him. This outfit made Luo Ziling look youthful and vibrant without coming off as stiff.
Ling Ruonan knew the old master’s temperament; he had always disliked wearing suits and ties, considering it a foreign dressing style.
When Ling Jinhua was at home, he often wore traditional robes; he liked clothing that carried a classic Huaxia charm.
Therefore, Ling Ruonan herself was dressed in a long dress today, her hair pinned up high on her head, giving her a very classic, noblewoman appearance.
Luo Ziling got dressed as she instructed and Ling Ruonan personally combed his hair. After ensuring there were no flaws, she took him to the car.
Ling Ruonan had prepared a gift for the great grandfather, and of course, Luo Ziling had not forgotten either.
But his gift wasn’t bought from a store; it was health products brought from the Northwest, including Tianshan Saussurea, cordyceps, and wild ginseng. These health products were many times better in quality than the ones sold in health product stores.
After getting into her Audi A8 limousine with Luo Ziling, Ling Ruonan instructed Wuyue, who was sitting in the passenger seat, “Let’s go.”
After Wuyue acknowledged the order, he immediately directed the convoy to start.
However, neither Ling Ruonan nor Luo Ziling expected that this trip to offer birthday wishes would encounter a world-shaking event.
The convoy soon left the residential area and got on the main road.
Along the way, Ling Ruonan didn’t say much, only occasionally instructing Luo Ziling on something when she thought of it.
About half an hour into the drive, the cars they encountered grew sparser, until they were on a nearly closed-off road.
At the beginning of this road stood a sentry post, with sentries on duty inside.
However, Ling Ruonan’s convoy was not stopped but was allowed to pass directly.
After driving for a while longer, they passed another sentry post without being stopped.
Luo Ziling was surprised to see that on both sides of the road were courtyard-style houses, each with mysterious figures patrolling nearby. He quickly understood that these houses were inhabited by people of prestigious status.
After driving on this nearly deserted road for about ten minutes, the convoy was finally stopped.
Fully armed guards thoroughly inspected everyone’s documents before Luo Ziling and Ling Ruonan’s car was allowed to pass.
The other escort vehicles were stopped; they weren’t permitted to go any further.
“We’re almost there, it’s the courtyard up ahead where a few cars are parked,” Ling Ruonan quickly explained upon seeing Luo Ziling’s slightly nervous look and took his hand, “This is the last checkpoint, so the inspection is the strictest. Only the old master’s personal car doesn’t need to be checked.”
Luo Ziling didn’t say anything. After giving Ling Ruonan a shy smile, he gripped her hand tightly.
Ling Ruonan’s lead car stopped next to two Audis A6 with special license plates.
As soon as the car stopped, Luo Ziling deftly prepared to open the door, but was held back by Ling Ruonan.
“Ling’er, your maternal grandfather and several elders of the Ling Family have already arrived; others probably haven’t come yet. In a moment, I’ll take you to meet them first. You must be polite to them, even if they are not friendly to you. Also, don’t worry about the others for now, after going in, you should first examine Great Grandfather’s health. It would be best if you could treat him to improve his spirits a bit,” Ling Ruonan softly instructed.
“Mom, I got it,” Luo Ziling obediently replied.
By then, Wuyue had already gotten out of the car and opened the door for them.
Luo Ziling got out first, handed his bag to Wuyue, and then helped Ling Ruonan out of the car.
“The young miss has arrived,” as Luo Ziling helped Ling Ruonan out of the car, a robust and energetic middle-aged man came up to greet them with a smile on his face, “The commander just arrived recently and is currently speaking with the old commander. Let me take you inside!”
While speaking, he glanced at Luo Ziling and nodded slightly.
Luo Ziling nodded back in greeting, waiting for Ling Ruonan to introduce them.
“This is my son, Luo Ziling,” after introducing Luo Ziling to the man, she turned to Luo Ziling and said, “This is your Great Grandfather’s secretary, Huang Chen, call him Mr. Huang.”
“Hello, Mr. Huang,” Luo Ziling greeted obediently and took the initiative to introduce himself, “My name is Luo Ziling.”
“Hello,” Huang Chen shook Luo Ziling’s hand, sized him up, and then smiled at Ling Ruonan, “The young master looks quite similar to the young miss, very handsome.”
Hearing Huang Chen say this, Ling Ruonan smiled happily.
Without further ado, Ling Ruonan took Luo Ziling by the hand and walked towards the house.
At this moment, an elderly woman, hearing the noise, walked out of the house. Her eyes stayed on Ling Ruonan for less than a second before settling on Luo Ziling.
“This is your maternal grandmother,” Ling Ruonan squeezed Luo Ziling’s hand tightly, softly reminding him, then let go of his hand and strode forward, “Mom, did you come early?”
Xie Enhua did not respond to Ling Ruonan’s greeting; her eyes were fixed on Luo Ziling and quickly teared up.
“Hello, Grandmother,” Luo Ziling approached politely, respectfully bowing and saying hello.
“Good, good,” Xie Enhua couldn’t hold back any longer. Her tears started flowing as she didn’t wait for Luo Ziling to come closer, she quickly took several steps forward, grabbed Luo Ziling’s hands, and looked over him while crying, “Ling’er, you’ve finally come back. I can’t believe how much you’ve grown… When your grandfather took you away, you were this small, just three months and a few days old. Just last night, I dreamt of changing your diapers, ooh, my poor child, you’ve finally returned. My poor Ruonan doesn’t have to secretly wipe away her tears anymore.”
After gesturing how small Luo Ziling was as a baby, Xie Enhua finally burst into tears and hugged him tightly.
