Chapter 789 Disrespectful
Chapter 789 Disrespectful
"You did what?"
The moment Herbert saw Damien getting up on his feet as if he was going to throw fists at him, he also confidently took a step forward and while he did so, he changed from being the nine-tailed fox to being the teenage boy.
Though he was a foot shorter than Damien in this form, he puffed his chest to look tall, looked Damien in the eyes, and answered in an attitude-filled voice, "You heard me."
Needless to say, Damien immediately jumped on that boy, grabbed him by the collar, and dangled him up in the air. His eyes glowed red with immense anger. If Ariel wasn't present in the room, he would have strangled that boy by now.
"You bit her and made her enter some kind of twisted contract?" Damien glowered at the struggling boy and screamed at the top of his lungs. "Undo whatever you did to her right now and go back to wherever the hell you came from."
Damien looked so angry and serious that Ariel was scared he would hurt Herbert. "Damien, put him d–"
Before Ariel could complete her sentence, Herbert spoke in the middle again, "I came from the Heaven realm. You are the one who is from Hell. You reek of darkness."
Damien brought that boy to his eye level and snarled at him, "Watch your mouth, you little beast! Don't make me drag you down to Hell and throw you into the pit of hellfire."
"Well, your bad luck, you demon. Since I am from Heaven, and I am not dead yet, you cannot drag me down to Hell," Herbert instantly shouted back and showed his tongue to Damien.
Damien's head tilted to the side on its own with anger. He scoffed and then said to the boy in a low grumbling voice, "Keep this up and you will be dead in no time. Don't make the mistake of underestimating a demon like me. You have no idea what I am capable of doing."
Herbert narrowed his eyes at Damien, and without caring that Damien was still dangling him in the air, he harshly asked, "If you are that capable then where were you when that son of God attacked Ariel? Why did God need to intervene? Weren't you by her side?"
Everyone in the room pursed their lips because they knew that was a low blow that Herbert gave to Damien; they could see that it bruised Damien's ego greatly.
Ariel was also furious with Herbert now because she could tell that was something Damien was probably asking himself; she knew Damien was blaming himself for not being able to protect her.
"You crossed your line, Herbert!" Ariel spoke in a chillingly calm voice.
She immediately grabbed Herbert by his arms and pulled him away from Damien. And in the next moment, she disappeared from the room, along with her familiar.
"Where did she go?" Zach whispered in a concerned voice.
Damien took a deep breath in and sat back down on the sofa, in between Ramon and Kenneth. He rested his elbows on his knees, and then bent forward to cover his face with his palms. He hoped that wherever Ariel went with that bratty beast, she would be safe.
Kenneth looked at Damien and empathized with him because he knew first-hand how Damien might be feeling at the moment. He had felt utterly helpless for not being able to do anything when Ariel had a damn spear inserted through her body.
So, he patted Damien's shoulder and tried to console him, "Hey, don't take whatever that thing said to your heart. I bet he isn't as intelligent as a fourteen-year-old boy even if he looked like one. I think he is just a cat that pretends to know everything and then loves to run his mouth."
Joyce also spoke from the bed. "Yes, Damien. Kenneth is right. He's just a cat that can shapeshift. He didn't know what he was talking about. So, don't take his words to your heart.
Ariel's uncle is probably as powerful as, or even more powerful than Uncle Theodore. There's no way we would be able to fight someone like that."
Damien didn't say anything. He simply nodded his head while still covering his face. But in his heart, he made a promise to himself, "I need to work on evolving sooner. I cannot allow something like that to happen to Ariel again. I at least need to be able to cover her back and support her in the fights."
---
Ariel had thought of teleporting Herbert back to the Heaven realm and asking her grandfather to help her in undoing that contract.
However, right before she teleported, she got cold feet thinking she would get stuck in the Heaven realm again. She didn't want to give unnecessary tension to her father and to all of her cousins and friends by getting lost for hours.
In the end, she teleported to Wyverndale instead of the Heaven realm. And in Wyverndale, she didn't teleport to just anywhere, she teleported in front of Arion, almost startling the poor horse who was enjoying his meal.
"Oh! Ariel! I thought it was some intruder…" Arion gave a nervous snigger. When he noticed the weird-looking boy who he had never seen before, he asked Ariel, "Who is this kid? One of your cousins?"
"Oh! Sorry!" He abruptly turned his head away when he realized that he had been talking in front of this new kid.
Ariel quickly stepped to where Arion was looking and then put the boy down in front of him. "No, it's okay. He's my familiar."
Arion swung his head and looked at the boy in great shock. "You have a familiar?"
"Yes. It's a long story. You can ask mom if she visits you, or I will tell you all about it when I come back," Ariel blurted out in a single breath and then asked a favor from Arion, "Will you look after him until then? Make sure that he doesn't escape from your sight and do something stupid or say something stupid to anyone?"
Herbert simply kept his head down and didn't dare to say a word. He was a little scared by Ariel because of how quickly she had grabbed him and teleported him there. If she wanted to, he knew that she could throw him back into Heaven. And he didn't want Ariel to do that.
Arion nodded and looked at the quiet boy. "Okay, if you are asking then I will take care of him." Find more to read at empire
"Thank you so much, Arion." Ariel quickly took a few steps back and before she vanished, she shouted at Arion, "If he tries to disrespect you then feel free to kick him, beat him, and tie him up, or do whatever you want. He needs to learn to be respectful of others."
