Chapter 786 Talking Cat
Chapter 786 Talking Cat
The three of them – Theodore, Ariel, and Herbert – reached in front of the main entrance of the castle of Romania.
They reached there just in time to be greeted by Joyce and Vlad. The pair had just arrived at the entrance to wait and receive the Prince Consort and the Princess of Wyverndale upon their arrival.
Vlad bowed to Theodore and formally welcomed him to the Kingdom of Romania. "Long live, Your Royal Highness," he greeted.
Theodore gave a nod to acknowledge the greeting of the Crown Prince. And he couldn't help but say with a slight smile on his face, "I most certainly will outlive almost everyone who is present here, Crown Prince."
Vlad and Joyce instantly broke into laughter at the blunt humor of Theodore.
Theodore finally turned his gaze from Vlad to Joyce.
"Uncle Theodore." Joyce gave a gentle bow first and quickly hopped forward to give a hug to Theodore. She then softly whispered to him, "Welcome back again, Uncle."
Theodore's heart sank when a glimpse of his past memory flashed before his eyes. The way Joyce hugged him by gently pressing the left side of her head against his chest was exactly how Mackenzie used to hug him in the past.
He pulled up a melancholic smile on his face and tapped his palm on her head. Then he whispered back to her, "Welcome back again, Makenzie."
Joyce's smile got stuck and her expression gradually turned a little sad. She took a step back to take a proper look at Theodore's face and then said with a slight smile on her face, "Yes, somehow, I turned out to be your niece again."
Theodore finally smiled brightly. He nodded his head and then said, "I guess you were so attached to me that you didn't want to leave my side." He slightly shrugged and added, "And everything worked out somehow."
Joyce, as well as Ariel, smiled upon hearing him.
"Maybe that was the reason," Joyce playfully agreed, deciding not to be sad about her unfortunate past anymore.
It was not long before the monarchs of Romania also arrived at the main gate to receive their esteemed guests.
"It is an honor to have you here, Prince Consort Theodore," King Louis held out his hand and greeted him in a really polite voice.
Theodore shook the King's hand and then replied with equal courteousness, "And I am pleased to have been invited here to join all of you."
Queen Helena also warmly welcomed Theodore.
And when all of them finished greeting each other properly, King Louis invited Theodore to join him for a cup of tea. The two of them walked ahead of everyone and immediately started to indulge themselves in the talks about their Kingdoms and politics.
Queen Helena asked Vlad and Joyce to lead Ariel back to where everyone was and to start whatever they had planned for today.
The three of them instantly agreed.
When the adults were out of sight, Joyce abruptly turned to look at Ariel and said in a rather serious tone, "We have a lot to catch up on. Let's head towards your room."
Ariel gave a nod and walked beside Joyce while Vlad walked on the other side of his wife.
As they walked down the path that was surrounded by greeneries, Joyce couldn't help but get curious about the white cat that Ariel had been tightly holding in her arms.
She looked at that cat and then asked Ariel inquisitively, "I'm sorry, but I have been meaning to ask this for a while now. Um… Whose cat is that again?"
Ariel looked at Herbert and gave him a few scratches on his head. Then she replied to Joyce with a wide grin on her face, "This is Herbert, my new pet."
Herbert didn't mind being called a pet. Rather, he purred and proudly rubbed his head on Ariel's palm.
Joyce raised her brows in surprise and then asked in disbelief, "Really? When did you get a pet?"
"Yesterday night," Ariel gave an awkward grin to Joyce because she had gone to see and bring her father with her. But she came back with a pet along with her father.
Joyce looked at the cat and said while smiling, "It looks like you are seriously keeping this cat with you. You even named him already."
"He already had one," Ariel nonchalantly replied because her focus was somewhere else. As they were now walking down the corridor, her eyes were constantly looking for Damien, hoping to cross paths with him.
Joyce wanted to probe further but she also got distracted when Herbert suddenly stretched his back and yawned. The cat looked so cute that Joyce couldn't stop looking at him.
Herbert could sense the massive amount of energy that Joyce was giving off for a human. Though he could mostly sense positive energy from her, there was also something negative about her.
That's why, when Joyce brought her index finger close to his nose to boop him, he stretched out one of his arms and sassily stopped Joyce from touching him.
"Aww…" However, Joyce found that little action to be cute and instantly tapped on his nose. She even put her palms under his front legs and asked Ariel, "May I?"
Ariel didn't think much and gave Joyce a nod.
Joyce immediately lifted Herbert away from Ariel's hold and brought him close to her chest although he was doing his best to protest against it.
Ariel unlocked and pushed the door to her room open when they arrived there. She walked inside the room and asked Joyce, who was now busy speaking with Herbert using gibberish language, "Where are all the others? Will they also be joining us?"
Vlad answered instead of his busy wife, "I will invite all of them to join us here. I'm sure everyone would love to hear the things that you have to say."
Ariel gladly agreed with Vlad. However, rather than sharing information that she had gathered, she was more eager to see Damien and properly ask how he was doing.
When it was only three of them in the room, Herbert lifted his head and looked Joyce straight in the eyes. And he spoke to her, obviously startling her, "Woman! Why are you talking in that nonsensical language with me? I can understand the normal language please."
Joyce was so stunned to hear the cat talking that she held her breath and dropped that cat from her hold.
She tilted her head to give a shocked glare to Ariel and said while gaping her mouth, "Please tell me I wasn't the only one who heard this talking cat."
