She Belongs To The Devil

Chapter 775 A Message

Chapter 775 A Message

Joyce took a deep breath in and leaned back on her chair after listening to everything that Damien said about her, her past life, and her ancestor.

"So…" Joyce closed her eyes and tried to wrap her mind around everything that Damien had said to her. "You're telling me that I have an ancestor in Hell who is trying to look out for me because she saw Michael… killing me."

She looked down at the capsule around her neck and further said, "And to save me, this damn thing can be helpful."

"Yes, that's what she told me," Damien was sad that he couldn't get rid of that plant for her. But upon hearing that it could someday be the very thing that could save Joyce's life, he didn't want to take any chances.

Joyce clutched her fists and cursed the situation that she was in. And she cursed Michael for traumatizing her and attacking her in both of her lives.

The two of them stayed there in silence for a while.

After some time, Damien looked at Joyce and softly smiled. And he said, "Looking at the brighter side, aren't you happy that you got to meet your half-brother?"

A slight smile instantly formed on Joyce's lips. She then said after giving a nod, "I AM happy. If only I knew that we were related when we were still young then, maybe I wouldn't have teased you as much as I did."

Damien, however, thought otherwise. "But I guess that's what made our bond stronger. And I bet that we would have mocked and fought with each other even more if we were aware that we were related."

Joyce laughed and agreed. "Now that you said it, I think we would have fought with each other like cats and dogs."

The two of them made light jokes and teased each other for some more.

And when their laughter settled down, Damien asked Joyce in a somewhat serious tone, "Joy, I haven't told my… our mother about you. I think she would be really happy to know that you got a second chance at life. Do you want me to tell her about you?"

Joyce didn't see the reason why Damien needed to keep her reincarnation a secret. So, even though she was a little nervous, she agreed with Damien. "Yeah, sure. I don't remember anything about her from my past life. But I do hope that I will remember one day. I would love to see what she looks like."

Damien shifted to sit on the edge of his chair and instantly said while grinning, "She looks as beautiful as me. No… she looks more beautiful than me."

Joyce giggled and pulled Damien for a hug. And she jokingly said, "Mother, I am really happy to see you again."

Damien also laughed and then said, "Okay, I will deliver this hug to mother." He then looked at Joyce and asked further, "Do you want to say anything else?"

Joyce looked a little sad when she asked, "She must have shed a lot of tears for me, right?"

"I'm sure she did," Damien's facial expression turned sad again. He recalled how she looked like an undead when he had gone missing for a month. He couldn't even imagine what his mother must have gone through after losing her child.

Joyce could sense that there was a heavy weight behind that simple sentence of Damien. So, she asked him, "Damien, then tell her that I am sorry for leaving her alone… for leaving way too early when I should have been by her side for eternity."

"I will," Damien replied.

She took a deep breath in and further said to Damien, "But you are there with her now, and I am really happy that she gave birth to a handsome and strong kid like you."

Damien gave a melancholic smile to Joyce and mumbled in a sad tone, "I wonder how things would be if you were still Makenzie."

"Maybe we would be fighting to be mother's favorite child?" Joyce shrugged and subtly smiled.

Damien also smiled and nodded. "Maybe… But I am sure you'd be her favorite."

"I wonder…" Joyce felt really sad at the thought of probably never being able to see her parents of her previous life. "Now, even though I did get a new life, I cannot even go and see her… or him." She glanced at Damien and asked, "Will you send my message to… King Lucifer as well?"

"Sure, anything for you," Damien instantly replied. Experience tales at empire

Joyce took a deep breath in and prepared herself for what she was about to say. She fidgeted her hands and then said in a soft voice, "Will you tell him that... it wasn't his fault?" She gulped hard and then said to Damien, "I cannot help but think that he has been blaming himself for my death for all these years. I don't want him to think that."

Damien looked down and gave a nod. "I will tell that to him... Anything else you want to say to him?"

"Tell him that he was a great father and that he did his best. And tell him that I am sorry for being weak." She recalled how she was a few seconds late in reacting to danger. She recalled how it cost her her life.

She looked down at the capsule again. And now, she could guess why the Zobekker plant did nothing to her even when it was wrapped around her body. Rather than harming her, she understood why it bloomed on her.

Her eyes teared up after thinking how Lucifer was still indirectly protecting her even in this life.

She smiled through her tears and whispered while clutching the capsule in her palm, "And please tell him that I have a small piece of his world with me. And tell him that it is looking out for me in his stead."

It finally made sense for Damien as well. And he was happy that Maple persuaded him to take the pendant back to Joyce.
