Chapter 773 Appointing
Chapter 773 Appointing
Michael dropped to his knees after going through the agonizing pain for what felt like an eternity to him.
All the angels who vowed to back him up couldn't utter a sound. All they did was quietly watched as God proceeded to take away the title of the Chief Prince from the very angel who they all had decided to follow.
Michael was still recovering from the pain, when he heard his father announcing, "I am going to appoint a much more capable Chief Prince right now, in front of all the audiences."
Michael raised his head to look at his father with a betrayed look on his face. He had a slight hope that his father was only going to remove him from his post temporarily. But when he said that he was going to appoint another Chief Prince right away, he could see his dream of ruling over the universe one day slowly slipping away from him.
"You cannot do this to me!" he shouted at his father.
But God looked down at the fallen Prince and nonchalantly replied, "Oh, I can, dear son. And I will."
He then immediately flicked his fingers in the air and a flame flew away from his hand.
Within a few seconds, the flame returned back to be one with God again. It had brought a guest to the court.
"Tobias? What are you doing here?" Michael instantly shouted at his son.
Tobias had a terrified look on his face because he was standing in the presence of his grandfather.
"I don't know… I was brought here," he mumbled while keeping his head low.
After what he had done to Ariel tonight, he thought that he was brought there to be turned into dust or to be banished from the Heaven realm.
"This isn't somewhere you should be." Michael forcefully pushed himself up to his feet. He then pointed his hand towards his private residence and shouted at his son, "Go back to your chambers right now!"
Tobias looked at his grandfather as if to ask for his permission to leave.
God didn't focus his attention on Tobias just yet. He looked at Michael and narrowed his eyes.
Michael instantly flew in the air and crash-landed on the other angels.
God then growled, "I called Tobias here. And you better learn to respect him. Because from now on, he is going to be your superior."
Tobias had not a single clue about what his grandfather and father were talking about.
But everyone else in the court instantly understood the meaning behind God's words.
Michael picked himself on his feet and then immediately protested, "How can you throw me out and then choose him to be my replacement? If you didn't see properly then let me tell you, he was the one who gutted your beloved and decorated granddaughter and not me."
Tobias gaped his mouth and looked at his father. But he wasn't as surprised as he should have been when his own father tried to forsake him now that he was no longer of use to him, at least for now.
"I had already seen this coming," he thought to himself.
God gave a laugh that was mixed with rage. And he asked Michael, "Weren't you the one to drag your son to Earth and order him to kill Ariel by blackmailing him?"
Michael felt everyone's judging eyes on him.
But he still kept his head high and then tried to drag his own son down, "I gave the order, yes. But he was the one to execute it."
He looked his father straight in the eyes and tried to provoke his father against his son, "He made his hand dirty. He attacked your dear granddaughter and left her to die. So, how is he suitable to sit on the very throne that you want to be sat on by a pure, untainted saint?"
God had a subtle smile on his face after hearing that. He then asked Michael in a derogatory way, "Do you really think that your son is as despicable as you? Do you still believe that your son actually attacked his own cousin?"
Michael looked at Tobias with a frown line between his brows.
God then waved his hand and a piece of memory began to play in front of him for everyone to see. He showed what actually went down in the personal domain of Tobias.
Everyone saw how Tobias gave the healing pill to Ariel before hurting her. Everyone saw the pain in his eyes before he stabbed that spear into Ariel's stomach. And more than that, everyone saw how much love there was between the two cousins.
God waved his hand again and the memory disappeared from the view. He then asked the fallen Prince, "So, tell me, Michael. I can still consider your son to be an untainted saint, right?"
Rather than focusing on the things that his father had just said, Michael was glaring at his son for betraying him. From the memory, it was clear that Ariel and Tobias were already acquainted with each other.
So he shouted at Tobias, "You had already met her! But you purposely hid that information from me? You sly bastard!"
"Language, Michael," God waved his finger at Michael, and instantly, his lips were sealed close. And he threw satire at everyone present in the court to support Michael's actions, "Others might take what you say seriously. After all, I can see that a lot of them believed every lie that you skillfully spun about me."
Everyone lowered their heads in shame.
Now that the court was silent with Michael's mouth sealed, God took the opportunity to appoint the new Chief Prince. "You all already know who I am going to appoint for the vacant position."
He turned to face Tobias and then held out his palm while facing the latter. He looked Tobias in the eyes and then announced, "I, hereby, announce that from this time onwards, Tobias, my grandson will be the Chief Prince of the Heaven realm."
The extra power that God had snatched from Michael began entering Tobias' body.
And all Michael could do was helplessly watched his own son taking over what was once his.
"If anyone has any problem with my judgment then now is the time to speak." God looked at everyone and said in a threatening voice, "If you have a problem then I shall convert you into something that won't feel any kind of emotions."
Nobody dared to speak because they all knew that the moment they would open their mouth, God would turn them into dust particles in the universe.
They all watched Tobias groaning in pain and squirming, almost as if he was evolving at the moment.
