Chapter 93 The Beginning of The End IV
Chapter 93 The Beginning of The End IV
The Beginning of The End IV
The battle continued and as time passed, it only got more and more intense.
Even if Christopher and the Void had narrowed down their scope of destruction to just each other, they were simply too powerful, and as a result, the world around them was taking a beating.
Christopher managed to grab the Void's formless body and threw it into the ground with terrifying force. But the impact didn't really leave a shockwave or anything of the sort. Its body just kinda sunk into the ground.
That wasn't all though as by the time it hit the ground, Christopher was already raising his sword and Transcendent Hellfire condensed to a terrifying degree.
He slashed down, but the Void evaded just in time. But the slash didn't stop… and proceeded to sever the continent in half.
After that, they changed locations once more and were now high above the ocean. The moment they began to collide the water started to churn and spin as though it was boiling.
Massive whirlpools formed below them and the sky darkened as a terrible storm started to descend on them.
Not once did Christopher take his eyes off the Void's figure as the clashes continued to rain in earnest, Oblivion and Creation fighting for dominance.
It got so bad in fact that some of the water started to rise up and get drawn in, then fused with the clouds to form massive water tornadoes around them. Each spinning with speeds that were difficult to calculate.
The effects were so bad that this wasn't the only place that was affected. The shores all over the planet started To get hit with terrifying Tsunamis that were hundreds of meters tall and earthquakes shook the world. It looked like a scene straight out of the apocalypse.
And it was still getting worse.
Despite this though, no side seemed to truly be getting an edge over the other and as things were, the planet would crumble before they did.
'I'll need to speed things up then.' Christopher thought.
So far he'd only been using self enhancing magic, and the ranged attacks he'd unleashed were all from the Transcendent Hellfire. However, it was time to change that.
'You may be the Manifestation of the Void itself, but the fact is, you're still in enemy territory!' With that thought, The rolling clouds and tornadoes and intense waves of water suddenly shuddered.
Then, massive water serpents shot out of the water each of them kilometres in length, and yet despite their titanic size, the speed at which they moved was simply uncanny.
And that wasn't all as the rain from the storm clouds suddenly began to fall faster. Much too fast for any normal person to endure, and each raindrop became sharper like a tiny needle to fall on the Void.
Just like that, Christopher had begun to manipulate nature to aid him in this battle.
Seeing him take things up a notch, the Void decided to respond in kind.
Suddenly, numerous rifts appeared in reality, some in the sky where the clouds were and some under the ocean, and then the baleful Void energy started to seep into the water and clouds.
Then something scary happened. Parts of the ocean began to turn an inky black, and several of the ocean serpents started to change as well, while the rain, some of it also changed.
'Sneaky.' Christopher narrowed his eyes as he felt his control over some parts of nature be wrenched away and be turned into Void based entities.
The now blackened Sea serpents, or Void serpents began to fight with the normal ones, many of the massive water tornadoes turned dark as well and started to try and pull in Christopher, while some of the rain that hit his Genesis Carapace tried to drill into it and hurt him. 'Corruption. Somehow I'm not surprised.' Christopher thought as he deflected a strike from the Void once more. Things were starting to get heated, but Christopher was still calm.
There were still several magics he hadn't touched and many other skills head yet to release. His intention was to push the Void into showing more of its cards, but he also didn't want to show too many of his.
But he now realised that was a flawed plan. Simply because the Void was in no rush, and the fact that if their battle went on for too long then the planet would most likely be destroyed, which is its ultimate goal.
He'd be lying if he said that didn't make him feel a bit distasteful.
'Doesn't matter I guess.' He huffed behind his mask before mumbling.
"Absolute Zero." The instant he spoke those words. The world seemed to freeze.
And it truly did.
A frigid cold passed through, and the ocean for thousands of miles was frozen solid instantly.
The churning waves, giant sea serpents, terrifying water tornadoes, raindrops and rain clouds were all turned into ice sculptures.
And the Void wasn't totally unscathed from it either.
Despite its insane elemental resistance, the purity of Mana used to cast the spell was hard to resist, even for it. So while it wasn't frozen fully, it was definitely slowed down.
It wasn't for long. But for Christopher, it was more than enough.
He flashed forward and without hesitation, he drove Scarlet right into its center, then the Transcendent Hellfire surged.
"Burn." Christopher said softly.
An instant later, black and red flames erupted and completely engulfed the Void's figure.
They roared and unleashed heat so terrible that the surrounding ice from the Absolute Zero started to evaporate.
Just the heat from the Colourless flames alone was as high as 9.5 million degrees. A temperature that most stars reached.
The only reason the surroundings hadn't been affected to badly by the deadly heat was because Christopher was concentrating it on a single point, which was his sword. But now he let the flames erupt without any reservations.
The surroundings were painted black and red and the ice melted, and the water beneath started to evaporate at insane speeds. So fast in fact that the region of the ocean they were fighting over actually completely evaporated, revealing the ocean floor. And all the coral, seaweed and so on instantly combusted.
Christopher could see the Void's body being destroyed by the flames. It wouldn't take long before it was completely destroyed.
Then Christopher remembered something he saw a while ago. Not from the books in his library, but from back when he was on earth, during his novel reading days.
A character said something that stuck with him.
'There are three things that are absolutely lethal to a fighter whenever they fight. Pride, lack of information, and greed. Pride because it leads to them underestimating their opponent, lack of information because the opponent can pull out something they have no way of defending against that they could have avoided if they knew about it beforehand, and greed, because they don't know when to retreat and only want to deal damage.' The moment the memory flashed in his mind. Christopher didn't hesitate.
He flashed away just as the flames were suddenly cut through, and a terrifying slash of Void energy was unleashed.
Ordinarily, those attacks would just cut through space and whatever matter was in the way. But this one?
Reality itself was utterly severed. The Runes, the Mana, whatever concepts had been in play in that direction were completely slashed apart.
A world severing slash.
When Christopher reappeared, blood spurted and his hand moved to his throat that was bleeding profusely.
'Ah, that hurt.' He thought as he felt blood rising in the back of his mouth. Had he been an instant slower, he would have lost his head.
He looked forward and saw that, shockingly, the Void had completely healed… returned to his original shape.
But he wasn't surprised, the brief moment they were close to one another, he sensed it. There was a small, but very potent Void rift within its body that was constantly moving. This rift supplied it with Void energy constantly and repaired any damage it took. It was also because of that, that Christopher realised that unless he managed to shut down that rift or destroy it, this battle wasn't going to stop.
But as always, he was calm.
'You aren't the only one who has access to endless regeneration.' As he had that thought, a rift opened behind him and a pair of pearly hands came through, each of them covered in green runes that gave off an impeccable life force. One hand wrapped around his chest while the other went to his bleeding throat and gently rubbed across it.
Life energy instantly surged into the wound and not even a breath later, it had completely closed.
'Thanks Eidrasil.' He thought and the hands retracted.
'I'm simply doing my duty, Master.' The voice of the World tree echoed in his mind and he sighed.
Christopher looked forward and saw that Void energy was starting to go wild around the Void. It would appear that his goal to make it reveal more of its cards was a success as he now knew it was capable of unleashing that world cutting slash.
'It needs prep time though.' He noted. Before he got slashed, he sensed a flood of Void energy surge through the Void rift in its body before it released the slash, meaning it needed a sizeable amount of the stuff to unleash that harrowing attack. Which wasn't surprising considering the damage it was capable of.
'I need to up the pressure, a lot. Don't give it any time to get that slash off again.' That was the most logical and simple response to such a thing.
However, Christopher wasn't dumb, and the Void even moreso. There was simply no way it would reveal a move capable of one-shotting him and leave it at that because it would definitely know Christopher would do everything he could to stop it from using it again.
In short, it had something else in store.
'I'll need your help again Eidrasil.' He thought, and a moment later, the tattoo of a massive tree suddenly appeared on his forehead, and a moment later, immense Waves of lifeforce surged through him. With this, killing him became countless times harder.
The Void wasn't just watching him prepare as it readied another World Slash and unleashed it, this time, instead of a single massive slash, it was a barrage of smaller, but no less lethal ones that cut apart reality.
Christopher was prepared though and used both time and space to boost himself and flash through the attacks and entered a reasonable distance. And without hesitation, he spoke.
"Domain."
