Chapter 92 The Beginning of The End III

The Beginning of The End III

The speed at which Christopher and the Void Moved was simply astonishing.

Well, technically just Christopher, since again, speed and distance wasn't exactly a concept that applied to the Avatar.

Regardless, any normal person wouldn't be able to perceive them move at all as they would change location just as fast as they appeared whenever they did appear.

Christopher shifted his body slightly And sidestepped an overhead slash by the Void.

There was no sound, but a clear line of Void energy passed by him and a massive rift appeared in space and the ground, creating a ravine that… kept going until it reached the ocean which was also split apart.

Before the Void could retract its weapon, Christopher twisted and swung his sword, aiming to behead the creature. And he succeeded.

The Transcendent Hellfire flashed past the Void and cleanly severed its head from its body. But it didn't matter.

Tendrils of Void energy appeared between the head and the torso and they reattached together. At the same, the Void hadn't stopped moving as its hand turned into a fearsome claw and slashed across Christopher's chest, tearing through space at the same time.

Any other person would have died instantly or been severely wounded. Again, the concepts of Reality didn't apply to the Void, so any attack it unleashed would be capable of ignoring any defenses as such laws didn't apply to it.

But Christopher was different. As his Mana was potent enough to allow him to be capable of hitting the Void, he could also naturally defend himself accordingly. The Genesis Carapace taking the full brunt of the attack calmly.

After that, the two of them separated and observed each other. Not much time had passed since they started clashing. In fact, it had only been around ten seconds. But they had collided more than a thousand times.

And they were both holding back a whole lot.

They had merely been probing each other so far to see the strength of their opponent and adjust accordingly. And now that they were satisfied, they were prepared to fight properly.

Christopher exhaled and entered a stance, his mind clearing and entering a state of complete focus. Without a doubt, the Void would be the most harrowing foe he had encountered thus far, and he wasn't about to let his fast ascension get to him.

Not to mention that the Void, despite this thing merely being an Avatar, had been alive for pretty much an uncountable number of years and transcended quite a bit of Creation itself. It was an ancient entity with a terrifying amount of knowledge and experience.

Sure Christopher was talented, but the chances were that he wasn't going to triumph such vast levels of experience. And this battle was probably going to be extremely difficult.

Even then, he felt excited.

So far, he had managed to dispatch his foes with minimal effort. So far, the only opponent that had managed to push him somewhat besides his subordinates was Lenax… who was now his subordinate.

He knew this battle would be difficult, so he prepared something for when it started.

'Come at me.' He thought, and the Void once more appeared in front of him instantly. And once more collided.

This time though, something had changed.

Before, their attacks were devastating. Even while being so high in the sky, a single aftershock was capable of destroying a country worth of landmass.

However, those shockwaves had been reduced to a minimum, but the intensity and deadliness of their fight had multiplied by several times.

Transcendent Hellfire and Void energy intertwined and clashed as the two figures zipped across the sky at impossible speeds.

Sometimes they would appear over the vast ocean, then over large mountains, then over vast plains, and then sprawling jungles. They were never in a single location for too long, but each time they appeared and left, only devastation was left in their wake.

'This…' Christopher avoided a slash aimed for his neck and deflected a jab at his heart.

'Is difficult!' He exclaimed inwardly as the Void, was actually forcing him to be on the defensive!

The was the creature fought was very strange, which wasn't odd, but very difficult to adapt to.

This was because the Void's battle style, if it could even be called that, had absolutely no substance or form to it.

After all, it's body didn't have any fixed form, so not only was it not restricted by the conventional difficulties of battle in where one had to move in specific patterns or formats in accordance to the limitations of their bodies, it could also change the way it attacked on the fly.

Moreover, the Void again, didn't follow any of the rules of reality and was utterly spontaneous and random, meaning one couldn't really predict what it was going to do next until it was already in the process of doing it, and even then it was still capable of changing its actions mid-way.

One moment their swords would clash, and then in the next its sword would be where its abdomen was aiming to stab Christopher, only for it to start moving upwards towards his ribs at the next moment.

Moreover, it could use that uncanny trait of its to ignore distance and essentially teleport, but unlike conventional teleportation, there was no delay between the teleports and it could essentially dance around Christopher like a ball of unpredictability.

As such, Christopher was struggling to properly grasp and respond to the onslaught.

It was difficult. Very difficult.

But he knew it would be.

A forced opening was created and his Genesis Carapace was breached, forcing his actual armour to come into play and block the attack. But even then he was thrown backwards. And the Void had no intention of letting him recover as it was already in front of him, its body turning into a mass of sharp limbs that aimed to rip him apart.

'As I thought, this was going to be far from easy.' He thought calmly as the claws got closer. His heart was pounding, but not from fear. No, he was very, very excited.

He suddenly teleported away and exhaled.

'It's done, Master.'Sinestra's voice echoed in his mind and Christopher nodded.

'Thanks.' He replied and looked up, again, the Void was already upon him, but he was calm.

His mind had already digested the information that Sinestra transferred to him. And what knowledge you may ask? Well, Christopher's Library had been upgraded twice since he last used it. So the things inside the books there had inevitably undergone utterly fantastical changes.

And right before Christopher left the Dimension, he had instructed Sinestra to filter the combat based books, both in magic and in combat styles into his mind.

And the transfer had been completed.

As the limbs were about to grab him, something interesting happened. Christopher's body gained a green luster.

However, it wasn't the pale green that represented wind, the bright green of fate, or even the sickly green of poison.

No, this was something else.

'Accelerate.' He thought simply, and in the depths of his pupil, a green clock appeared.

The hand representing the seconds suddenly started To spin faster, followed by the minute and hour hands.

Christopher's body then blurred, and then he was behind the Void's Avatar.

A moment later, several lines appeared on its body before igniting into Transcendent Hellfire.

Christopher had grasped Time Magic.

And that wasn't all.

The Void seemed to have been harmed for the first time as it quickly left the bindings of the flames, but its body took longer to regenerate than before. It wasn't a large difference, but it was there.

The Void for the first time retreated slightly to observe Christopher, but he wasn't going to give it that chance.

Using Time magic to accelerate himself, Christopher was moving far faster than he was before. And at the same time, his mind was running at an astonishing rate, several time faster than before, allowing his perception of the world to reach even greater heights.

He collided with the Void again, but he was no longer getting suppressed. Now, the two of them were somewhat evenly matched. Christopher was still at a slight disadvantage, but he was going to change that.

All of a sudden, the way he moved changed and became… strange.

His movements suddenly lost all fluidity and substance, they lost their predictability and form, turning into a formless movement. It almost resembled…

How the Void was moving.

Indeed, Christopher started to move in the same unpredictable manner the Void Moved. Something that should have been impossible, but here's the thing.

Christopher's understanding of runes undoubtedly would have reached an astonishing height with the recent upgrades, and among the knowledge Sinestra had fed him, the new and improved art of Creation was a part.

And among its teachings, one of the things it showed was how one could affect the runes of their own body.

After all, runes made up reality, and Christopher was a part of that same reality, and thus was made up of runes.

And So by manipulating the Runes that made up his body, he could change his molecular structure, which would allow him to remove certain limitations his body had, allowing him to move in ways that were simply unreasonable.

This process was insanely difficult, and if he wasn't careful, he could remove an important collection of bonds and cause the whole structure to collapse.

But not only was he incredibly precise, he was in a state of battle clarity that made his concentration soar, allowing him to do things he normally wouldn't be able to do. Explore hidden tales at empire

And these were just a few of the things he had in store.
