Chapter 508 Overpowered Rematch

Chapter 508 Overpowered Rematch

The words durable cloth made sense on their own, but when it applied to Talents, William had no idea what he had just acquired from the System.

Was it a trash Talent like Drawing or Stone Skipping, or was it actually useful? There was only one way to find out.

William scrolled through his Status until he reached the Physical Talents section. Positioned below the Physical Charm Talent was the first new Talent he had earned since Ascending. Durable Cloth was rated as merely a Common Talent, but William knew better than to assume it was trash.

Some of his best Talents, such as Hard Skin and Regeneration, were Common when he unlocked them.

Hmm, not bad actually. William couldn't complain much about the effects of the Durable Cloth Talent. In fact, it was a Talent that he didn't realize he needed.

The Illusionist's Cloak was crafted several years ago using the best materials available to William at the time. That said, all of its components came from the Mortal Realms. Even if they were reinforced with powerful Arrays, and the effects of his Artificer Title boosted its stats to be on par with the lower stages of the Ascension Realm, the equipment was quickly falling behind.

Since arriving in the Celestial Planes, William's Illusionist's Cloak had taken damage during every fight, in some way or another. But now that he had the Ascended Durable Cloth Talent, the Illusionist's Cloak could continue being useful for a while longer yet.

I think that's the limit of what I should do for now. I only have 13 Ascended Points left and I might need them for the Ask Function later.

Now that his spending spree was over, it was time to test everything out in battle!

William scaled the stairwell at normal speed, planning out his fight against the Sun Stone Golem. Last time, he had to use everything at his disposal just to take out the Sun Stone Golem's Forcefield. Not only had he needed to layer three Domains on top of one another, but William also had to improve his Meteor Spell twice until it became Meteor Drill Shower.

Because of its absurd regenerative powers and defenses that outmatched anything in the Initial Deity Realm, along with the buffs that affected it after its joints were broken, the Sun Stone Golem was able to endure everything William threw at him. It even managed to catch William by surprise once and knock him unconscious, causing him to age several years.

In the end, William only managed to defeat the overpowered Boss by developing the Comet Pellet Spell, a tightly compressed ball of tungsten that fired at extreme speeds and had insane piercing power.

But now, William felt confident that he wouldn't need to go through such lengths for a mere Magical Beast, even if it was in the Initial Deity Realm. The chances of being knocked out by the same attack were close to none, at least.

When he reached the top of the stairs, the orange-yellow Sun Stone Golem was already standing. Compared to last time when it ignored William's presence, this Boss seemed to remember its death by this Cultivator's hand.

I might just be imagining things. There's no guarantee this is the same guy.

The Boss of the 15th Floor reached its rocky arm into the floor and ripped out a chunk, then adopted a stance unique to baseball pitchers and threw the debris. At a distance of two hundred meters, the projectile would reach William's position in a quarter of a second.

This was assuming nothing else was at play, however.

The moment the debris left the Sun Stone Golem's hand, William's Accelerated Reflexes Bonus Effect triggered, slowing down everything by four hundred times. The quarter of a second window was instantly increased to one hundred seconds of reaction time, meaning William could do anything.

Let's take it easy. This is a test, after all. William smiled as he calmly stepped to the side, a few centimeters out of the path of the debris.

While the Accelerated Reflexes Talent also slowed him down, William could also move five times faster than before the Talent was Ascended. Forget one hundred seconds, William would only need two slow-motion seconds to get out of the way.

Time continued moving at the normal pace as soon as William was out of harm's way. From the Sun Stone Golem's perspective, William left behind a slideshow of afterimages before the debris flew harmlessly past his body.

Its expression didn't change, but William could tell that his move had made the Boss angry. It ripped up dozens of boulders and threw them in quick succession. If William could dodge one, it would simply throw more!

Your journey continues on empire

William continued to dodge calmly, even closing the distance during the process. The Sun Stone Golem, displeased with his rude behavior, switched tactics and fired off a brown ball of compressed Earth from behind some of the debris, controlling its flight path manually to ensure it hit its target.

When William dodged another piece of debris, the time-slowing effect didn't stop this time, instantly triggering him to search for the projectile. Merely four seconds of slow-motion time passed before he discovered it, but William's target was already halfway to his position.

This is new... that thing didn't show up until after I had destroyed its first joint. It does look a lot weaker than the one that knocked me out though... William stepped to the side and dodged the earth bullet easily, allowing the projectile to fly past him.

Even while being controlled by the Sun Stone Giant, the bullet's velocity was too great for it to home towards William. It embedded itself in the walls of the Boss room, while the Sun Stone Giant stood still and preemptively activated its forcefield.

"Even you get tired, huh?" William smirked at the motionless Boss. It seemed that using a powerful attack in its first stage was very taxing, which gave him a perfect opportunity to test his attack power.

He pointed with his right index finger and called Mana to his fingertips, instantly creating a basketball-sized bullet made of tungsten that despite its size traveled just as fast as the first time he had used the Comet Pellet Spell. It slammed into the Boss' left knee joint, shattering the marble into dozens of pieces.

The Sun Stone Golem immediately started to regenerate, the shattered marble joint filling with Solar Nectar while its various stats skyrocketed. Unlike last time, however, William didn't give the Magical Beast a chance to move, casting a second Comet Pellet at the same location as the first.

Solar Nectar sprayed into the air while the Boss fell to one knee. Its eyes, which generated along with the rest of its buffs, were wide with shock as it realized that the boy who had challenged it less than two days ago had already far surpassed its strength.

"Stay there for a second, I have loot to collect." William said as he created dozens of glass vials and hovered them in the air directly below the Solar Nectar. Compared to loot, the condition of the Sun Stone Golem was of no importance to him.
