Chapter 177 To become one with your shadow Part 2
"That's just dumb." Uriel tried to dismiss the thought of Water warlock being inside of his body, but the more he thought about it the more sense it made. "How can you be so sure it's a trait and not a skill or something different?"
"I can't explain the physics behind it, but whenever a hunter harnesses the flux energy it appears in a certain color. It is related to a hunter's identity and you can't change it. I noticed that when you became faster there were blue sparks surrounding your body but then, the color of your eyes changed and it became..."
"Cyan." Uriel finished her sentence. "That was the color that came off from Water warlock when I met him."
"What do you mean you met him!? Wasn't the dagger supposed to be ancient?" It was now Nika's turn to remain confounded.
"The dagger isn't ancient, it's actually way older than the ancient era, it's even older than human history. It comes from a time long forgotten when a civilization far more advanced than ours existed on this planet, but they're long gone. I met the maker of the dagger on the mystical realm, but I thought it was just an extra corporeal experience."
"You speak of the mystical realm as if just by saying it all things make sense, but they don't. You need to explain things better."
"There isn't a better explanation. But, Is possession really a thing? I mean, I've heard about stuff like that and I've seen something like that in movies, but I'm not puking green goo or turning my head in ninety degrees."
"That's just bullshit, possessions aren't like that. They're rare, but not unheard of. I am friends with an exorcist who taught me a lot about possessions. You see, because of the nature of my trait I was forced to learn about possessions because... that's sort of what I do."
"What do you mean by that?" Uriel sent a glare towards Nika that made her shiver.
"Calm down, would you? It's not like I did it without your permission, you even signed a contract. I told you my trait had special requirements and that was the truth, but not the whole truth. As you already know, I can't activate my trait without a partner. That's because shadows don't exist, they're just projections caused by the absence of light.
When you signed the contract, what you did was to grant me permission to enter your shadow at will, do you see where I'm going with this?"
"So, what you're telling me is that... you possessed my shadow?" Uriel lifted a brow in suspicion.
"Precisely! I can't force you to do things you don't want and most of the stuff that appears in the movies is just nonsense. The requirements vary, but all possessions need the host permission even when a cryptid is the one responsible."
"I saw a cryptid do that! A heavenly rank hunter was possessed by an eclipse and he tried to kill our party by leaving us stranded on an intermediate hunting zone."
"You are one tough cookie! How did you manage to survive that?"
"I killed him." Uriel replied honestly.
"I'm sorry."
"Why?" Uriel asked confounded.
"You killed a person! That's a painful experience that would leave most people traumatized for life."
"I thought so too, but I didn't feel anything. In fact, ever since I came back from Chichén Itzá I've felt sort of... detached. Could that be related to a possession?"
"No," Nika shook her head. "It may be post traumatic stress though, you'd need to go see a shrink for that. Possessions don't cause people to lose their emotions, it's just a symbiotic relationship between host and guest where they share a body and flux energy."
"Why would someone agree to let a cryptid possess them? I just don't get it. It's also strange because Rocky didn't seem aware of the presence of the cryptid."
"That's one of the things that worries me. It's just like your case, you were granted power and didn't even question where did it came from, you simply assumed it was yours. Maybe you should try to avoid using that thing until you learn more about it."
"I understand." Uriel had a lot to think about, but now he was fairly certain that Nika was right and that Water warlock may be tagging along in his body. The worst part was that he gave his permission without knowing the consequences.
Uriel was still pondering about this matters when Nika started taking off her clothes in front of him without a hint of embarrassment. Her fit body and alluring curves was revealed in full, the charming color of her tanned skin complimented her shapely body turning her into a breathtaking seduction goddess.
"So? Do you understand how this works right? You need to take your clothes off too."
"Wait, you're being serious?"
"I'm naked, how more serious do you want me to be!?"
"This is a bad Idea Nika."
"It's not, I promised you this and I think we'll both enjoy it."
"That's not it, I can't do it."
"There's medicine for that." She leaned closer for a kiss, but Uriel took a couple steps back.
"I don't meant that I can't perform, I mean that I can't lose my virginity because If I do, I won't be able to enter the dungeon of Xibalbá. It's one of the things Water warlock said to me, he told me that the reason why I was able to enter without a priestess was because I was a virgin."
"I knew you would chicken out and make a lame excuse, but this is too much." Nika scoffed, but then she noticed Uriel was being serious. "Why do you even care if you can enter there or not, if you're right about dungeons, then there's plenty more."
"I can't, I made an oath to find out what happened to Water warlock's people. It seems they were supposed to wait for someone to arrive, but they disappeared from the face of the earth who knows how many ages ago."
"But If we don't do this, if I don't do this for you then you won't ever trust me. It's a debt I must pay." Although Nika always gave the impression of someone who didn't care about anything, seeing her teary eyed and completely naked in front of him made Uriel realize that she actually cared about him.
"I'll be honest. Even without the oath I may have still rejected you because I don't think that's the right reason to... you know." Uriel's words only made Nika feel more rejected and now she was covering her exposed chest with her arms crossed. "But you did go through with your word and the sight was great. That's good enough for me, I consider your debt paid."
