Chapter 202 Ambush.

They were willing to put in a lot of effort because they were hoping for a great catch. Fortunately, their wait bore fruit a few minutes after.

The scout was able to spot Kelvin driving towards the city. Not that Kelvin was making any attempt at hiding himself. The car he was driving was hideous, and it was playing music at an obnoxious volume. Even the dead would be aware of his presence.

All these things made the tip-off very suspicious. The heroes suspected that there was a scheme afoot. But they still wanted to swallow the bait and the trap whole. So they discussed and decided to go after the bait.

A lot of vehicles came out of New London and began traveling in the direction of the diamond man. Meanwhile, the scout followed the diamond man and updated the rest of his location.

This was easy to do since the diamond man was driving slowly through the wilds. The scout could keep up with him easily.

Light Song said, "This is clearly a trap. They are not even attempting to hide it."

Havoc gave an alternative, "Or maybe this is the real deal. Surely they can't be so stupid as to make their trap obvious. Maybe this boss is carefree because he doesn't think he has anything to worry about."

Light Song shook his head. "I doubt it."

Fire Rose interjected, "It doesn't matter anymore if it is a trap or not. What matters is that the bait is real. We just have to make sure that the bait doesn't escape."

These three are the main force in this operation. Two of them are based in New London normally. The third one, Light Song, is from out of town. She came to New London for the war and was drafted for this operation because of the usefulness of her ability against diamonds.

The three of them are not the only ones participating in this mission. There are six vehicles in total, and they contain a total of 21 heroes. Together with the scout, that makes 22 heroes assigned to the mission.

They ditched their vehicles halfway to the target. The vehicles drove away to somewhere they could hide nearby. Meanwhile, the heroes hid themselves and set up an ambush by the side of the road.

They used camouflage blankets that made them disappear completely. This way, no one without special vision or perception will be able to see them even though they were standing by the road.

The target is unlikely to have this ability since special vision is not related to diamonds. Plus, they couldn't sense any other person around, so the target won't have helpers to alert him.

Fire Rose instructed the scout, "Stay on him."

Then she said to the support heroes, "Stop him. He must not get away."

Then they waited for the vehicle to enter their ambush range. They could already hear the loud, obnoxious music even before they saw the target.

When the vehicle entered their range, many heroes activated their abilities immediately. All of the abilities were to stop the vehicle and prevent the target from escaping. They would like to capture the target if they can. Killing is a matter of last resort.

One of the abilities was golden ropes. They extended from their user like tentacles and bound the vehicle the diamond man was in.

The golden rope wound around the car with so much force that it crushed the door and caved in its roof. This prevented the target inside from getting out.

Then other heroes jumped in. They shot projectiles that punctured the tires and destroyed the engine.

Havoc jumped on top of the vehicle and placed his hands on it. He activated his alpha psychic ability called Metal Manipulation on the vehicle. He used his ability to crush the vehicle and turn it into a ball that would seal the target within it.

Rather than affect the entire vehicle at the same time, he concentrated on the driver's seat where the target was. He used the door and every other metal around to bind the target.

But the target was not willing to go without a fight. He resisted with all his might by tearing or crushing the metal binds with pure strength.

Havoc's eyes lit up. He said, "Oh, he's strong. This won't be a waste of our time."

Light Song growled at him, "It will be a waste if we let him get away. So get to work."

Fire Rose and most of the heroes surrounded the vehicle. The rest that didn't approach the vehicle were making sure that they wouldn't be ambushed.

Fire Rose said to the diamond target, "Give up. You're surrounded."

Kelvin didn't listen to her. He only listened to what Wrath said.

Wrath said, "It is just right."

So he equipped his Juggernaut's Armament ability and detonated all the bombs in the vehicle.

The gas bombs exploded, which caused the expensive kegs of fuel placed around the vehicle to explode too. A great explosion swallowed the vehicle and every hero around it.

Kelvin walked out of the explosion unscathed. He was drained of stamina in order to protect himself from that much heat. But he was mostly fine.

Being low on stamina is bad when one is surrounded by enemies. But for him, stamina is something he can easily replenish as long as there are enemies around him.

His enemies, on the other hand, were not doing so well. Most of them died or were dying in the blast. But the two main heroes were still alive.

Havoc was strong and was on top of the vehicle. So he didn't get blasted in the face by the explosion.

Fire Rose was blasted in the face directly, but she had innate fire resistance from her ability to control and produce flames. Plus, she was wearing fire-resistant clothes, which protected her from much of the point-blank damage.

She was terribly injured as she had lost most of the skin and muscles on her face and arms. However, she was far from dying.
