Chapter 674: Tree Mother

An endless expanse of lush green heaven and earth.

A flying vessel shot out from a huge deep green vortex.

Lu Xuan held his hands behind his back, looking with interest at everything in the Green Wood Star Cave through the Spiritual Energy Shield.

After leaving the Thunderfire Star Cave with Xuann Yuanzhe, they boarded the latter’s flying vessel and smoothly entered the Green Wood Star Cave.

What met his eyes was a world of trees and twisting vines.

Towering trees of dozens to hundreds of feet densely packed, numerous bizarre vines winding between the trees, and various wild grasses growing rampantly, the entire realm was filled with a rich Wood Spirit Aura.

“This is the Green Wood Star Cave,”

smiled Xuann Yuanzhe as he introduced it to Lu Xuan.

“Indeed, it isn’t misnamed,”

As they were speaking, to the side of the flying vessel, a thick, several-dozen-feet thick black vine rose high up, seemingly watching the two of them inside.

Hundreds of green Plant Spirits with thin four-winged bodies closely followed behind Lu Xuan.

Lu Xuan looked down, where massive trees were uprooting their roots stretching who knows how many feet and striding along. It seemed like the vines and plants in front had their own consciousness, hastily getting out of the way, fearing they might get trampled by the trees.

“Fellow Xuann Yuan, about these Plant Spirits…”

Lu Xuan, seeing that Xuann Yuanzhe seemed to take it as usual, spoke up as a reminder.

“Friend Lu, don’t worry, these Spirits aren’t very aggressive. They usually don’t initiate attacks on Cultivators entering the Green Wood Star Cave,”

“Besides, with their simple Spiritual Intelligence, they probably can distinguish who can be provoked and who cannot,”

the young man said with a light laugh.

Lu Xuan nodded.

That made sense. The more aggressive ones wouldn’t be allowed by the Sky Star Cave to remain there. After long-term clearing and cleaning, those who remained were naturally more friendly.

“Every one of the eighteen Star Caves in the Sky Star Cave has its own miraculous features. The Thunderfire Star Cave has that mysterious Thunder Sea, and the Green Wood Star Cave is said to have its foundation from the legendary building wood. A branch of it grew and transformed to form this Cave Heaven Blessed Land known as the Green Wood Star Cave,”

Xuann Yuanzhe explained to Lu Xuan.

“Building wood?”

However, a bit of curiosity arose in Lu Xuan’s heart. If he could plant any of the ancient Spirit Plants from the legends, he would be happy even to harvest a light cluster from the building wood…

Though he thought as such, he didn’t hold much expectation and calmly observed the various exotic plants and Plant Spirits below.

There were Azure Green Wood Elves growing half a body out of strange tree trunks, small Spirits whispering secrets, exquisite and petite, and Lu Xuan even saw a cluster of giant trees gathered together, engaging in primal reproduction methods.

He suddenly had a bizarre thought.

“Traveling like this to various cultivation sanctuaries would also be an interesting way of life, seeing the unique local customs and collecting all kinds of peculiar Spirit Plants and Spirit Beasts.”

Of course, that would have to be based on possessing sufficient strength. Otherwise, the Cultivators he might encounter along the way probably wouldn’t share his sentiments.

“These are Tree Mothers, a rare type of Plant Monster. They are naturally maternal, feeding off the spiritual energy of plants, and are innocent and pure by nature.”

Xuann Yuanzhe introduced them to Lu Xuan.

“Tree Mothers… I never imagined the spirits of tree monsters could also take on such feminine forms.”

“However, when it comes to feminization, there’s a world of difference between one form and another. That Evil Granny Tree Monster in the blessed land could also be considered a feminized Spirit Plant, in a way.”

When Lu Xuan thought of the Evil Granny Tree Monster in the spirit field that fought daily with the Demonic Vine, so strangely shaped and menacing, then looked at the endearing and free-spirited little Tree Maidens before him, he suddenly found the Evil Granny Tree Monster repulsive.

As his thoughts wandered, he noticed that the dozen Tree Mothers kept following the flying boat, their eyes filled with curiosity as they looked at him.

No sooner had he stretched out his fingers than the surrounding Tree Mothers drastically shrank in size, flew in front of his fingers, and eagerly sucked at the Qingmu Origin Energy. Because there were more Tree Mothers than there were fingers, some even clustered around a single finger greedily soaking up the light green energy.

After consuming enough Qingmu Origin Energy, the dozen or so Tree Mothers condensed a flower mark filled with a fresh, natural scent and offered it to Lu Xuan, then bade him a reluctant farewell.

“Friend Lu is truly fortunate. Tree Mothers are not ordinary Plant Monsters, and this special mark should be quite valuable,” said Xuann Yuanzhe with a touch of envy in his tone.

“I’m just lucky that, as a Spirit Plant Master, I happen to possess a type of spiritual energy that’s normally used for cultivating spiritual plants and expediting their growth. I did not expect it to be so beloved by these little spirits.”

Lu Xuan stored the flower mark in his storage bag, smiling as he spoke.

This was just a minor episode on the way to the Jade Forest Hermit’s cave abode.

The flying boat sped on, and shortly after, they arrived in front of a giant tree nearly a thousand feet tall.

The tree, spread out, was as large as a common small town, with many natural-looking tree houses inside. Various Plant Monsters of all shapes were flying out from the houses.

“The Jade Forest Hermit’s cave abode is situated atop this giant tree. Friend Lu, please.”

Xuann Yuanzhe retracted the Flying Boat Magical Tool and extended a hand, inviting Lu Xuan.

“Fellow Xuann Yuan, please.”

Just as the two were about to fly into the giant tree, a green light emerged from within it, and the Jade Forest Hermit appeared before them.

“Friend Lu, Fellow Xuann Yuan, welcome, welcome,” she said, her green hair seeming to merge with the tree, her face breaking into an eager smile.
