Chapter 1069: If You’re Good, I’ll Let You Touch Those Pink Rabbits Later

?

Ethan and Nicole slowly descended from the sky when they had gotten close to the territory of the Asta Family.

The young lady looked at the scenery with a calm expression on her face, and yet, Ethan could tell that deep inside her heart, various emotions were rising up to the surface.

As the two landed on the Gate of the residence, the Guards on duty recognized Nicole and immediately greeted her.

However, they didn't open the gate right away, as if they were worried that doing so would make them lose their jobs.

"Please wait here, Lady Nicole," one of the Guards said. "I will inform the Patriarch of your arrival."

Nicole nodded. "Go ahead. But tell him that if he's not here within fifteen minutes, this handsome fellow here will blast that gate to oblivion."

The young lady pointed at Ethan, and right on cue, the latter glared at the Guard, making the poor guy feel intimidated.

Having acquired the Slaughterer's Legacy, Ethan's killing intent had grown extremely potent to the point that ordinary people would be paralyzed by his glare.

Of course, he made sure to control his bloodlust, since they couldn't let the man be paralyzed from fear. Almost immediately, the guard ran away in haste.

The other Guard remained at the Gate. But, one could tell that beads of sweat had started to form on his forehead due to the pressure that Ethan was emanating.

The young man didn't expect that Nicole would use him as a shield against the Patriarch of the Asta Family, but Ethan was more than happy to play this role.

Clearly, he wasn't very happy with how Oscar Asta treated Nicole when she was still very young.

If possible, he wanted to give the old man a piece of his mind. But since Nicole didn't seem to want to start using violence, he decided to go with the flow for now.

Less than fifteen minutes later, Oscar appeared at the gate, flanked by the other Elite Wizards and Witches of the Asta Family.

"To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?" Oscar asked. "If I'm not mistaken, the school year of Brynhildr Academy hasn't ended yet."

His tone was neutral, neither hostile nor welcoming. He seemed genuinely surprised to see Nicole and Ethan together when they should be studying in the academy.

Oscar stared at Nicole for a few seconds before shifting his gaze to Ethan, who had left a deep impression on him during the battle against the Fomorians, as well as the Insectoid Army.

"I've come to take a stroll inside the residence to reminisce about the past," Nicole said in a teasing tone. "But, since the guards didn't let me in right away, I guess they've received orders to prevent me from entering this place."

Oscar frowned because he had indeed ordered the guards to bar Nicole entry to the residence because she defied his order to eliminate Ethan as a mission for the Heir Wars of the Asta Family.

However, that was all in the past.

The last thing that the Patriarch of the Asta Family wanted was to antagonize the young man who could potentially wipe out their family if he felt like it.

"These are troubled times, so I told the guards to be strict in their duties and not let anyone enter the residence easily," Oscar stated. "I apologize if this caused the two of you any discomfort or ill feelings. I will ensure that this will never happen again in the future."

This time, Oscar paid careful attention to Nicole because he felt that things might get out of hand depending on her mood.

It was at that moment when the old man heard Ethan's cold voice, which made him shudder internally.

"It better not happen again in the future," Ethan said coldly. "Because if it does, the Asta Family would cease to exist."

This time, he no longer restrained his killing intent and unleashed it unsparingly toward the members of the Asta Family, whose faces had now turned pale from the pressure that suddenly descended upon them.

Some of them felt their knees turn to jelly and collapsed on the ground.

Others took a step back and did everything in their power to remain standing.

Oscar, who had fought in the battlefield fared better, but his face still went a bit pale.

He knew then and there that Ethan wasn't bluffing, so he made a mental note to call for a family meeting later to have a proper talk with everyone and discuss Nicole's position and treatment within their family.

"Ethan, they're already old," Nicole said sweetly as she held Ethan's hand. "Don't intimidate them too much. What will you do if they have a stroke?"

"You're right," Ethan replied, completely removing the force of his killing intent. "Shall we go now? I also want to see where you stayed here in the Asta Family's Residence."

Nicole nodded. "Okay."

The young lady then pulled Ethan and passed through the gate, which was firmly closed earlier.

Now, no one dared to block their path, knowing that a calamity would befall them otherwise. Oscar watched the two teenagers go with a conflicted look on his face.

In the end, he made a gesture to everyone to not follow Ethan and Nicole lest it irritated them.

If that really happened, the Asta Family's Main Residence might get flattened completely to

the ground.

"Mr. Ghost, you're so dependable," Nicole said, hugging Ethan's arm, as they walked side by side. "Did you see the look on Oscar's face? That was priceless."

The young lady giggled because she didn't expect that she would be able to see such a helpless expression on the person that she once feared in the past.

Oscar's words were law, and if he wished for someone in the family to fall from grace, all he needed to do was say a word, and it would happen.

Nicole had feared him in the past, but now, she no longer even had an ounce of respect for

him.

After everything that she had been through, especially the pain and hardships she had suffered for the past years of her life, Oscar was lucky that she didn't ask Ethan to beat him up as a way of venting her anger.

She understood that just a word from her, and Ethan would start throwing hands, which would devastate the Asta Family in more ways than one.

Ethan didn't reply and simply smiled at the young lady, who was now in a very good mood.

Whenever it was only the two of them, Nicole would not hesitate to call him Mr. Ghost.

For her, calling the young man Mr. Ghost was a form of endearment that only belonged to her.

Of course, Baradiel had also used it to teasingly refer to Ethan. Nevertheless, it was still something exclusive to the two of them.

As the young lady led Ethan within the main grounds of the residence, he noticed that Nicole wasn't taking him to the house.

Instead, she was taking the path that led to the gardens.

"This is where it all began," Nicole said softly, as they entered the garden. "You found me sneaking around this area. Didn't you, Mr. Ghost?"

"Indeed," Ethan replied. "Back then, I thought I saw a little pink rabbit sneaking in the

garden."

"If you're good, I'll let you touch those pink rabbits later," Nicole said in a teasing tone, which almost made Ethan miss his step.

He had suffered a different kind of teasing last night, and if Nicole kept on egging him like this, he might just accept her offer and squeeze her rabbits to his heart's content.
