Chapter 966 No regrets

The small cloaked figure didn't even bother trying to hide this fact.

He even admitted it by saying these words.

It almost seemed like he wasn't surprised to be asked this question, but that wasn't because he wasn't surprised to be caught. It was more that the small cloaked figure had already figured that this was the case based on everything that happened.

"You've left plenty of clues, so it wasn't hard to guess." Lin Fan said with a shrug.

The small cloaked figure didn't respond right away as he looked at Lin Fan, but then he suddenly said, "Is it easy? I don't think that it would be easy unless you knew what you were looking for."

Then in a sharper voice, he said, "Those that know what to look for are those from the Mu Empire. So does that mean that you've come from the Mu Empire because you were tipped off or is it something else?"

Even though it was clear that he had been exposed and was trapped in enemy territory, it didn't seem like the short cloaked figure was panicking at all. The way that he was acting was as if he was trying to get information from Lin Fan.

That meant that he wasn't worried about not being able to escape.

It seemed that he must have already prepared for this scenario a long time ago.

Right as soon as his voice fell, the short cloaked figure immediately turned to look at the current head of the Huang Family.

The way that he looked at him, it was clear that he was planning on silencing him.

The current head of the Huang Family's legs collapsed under him when he saw the short cloaked figure turning in his direction, it was just what he expected to happen didn't happen in the end.

The short cloaked figure turned to look at Lin Fan, but Lin Fan just looked back at him with the same calm look as before. It was as if he didn't feel any pressure at all stopping the aura that he released.

Instead of provoking him, the short cloaked figure said, "So it seems like you've developed a conscience. It seems like you want to save them for the information that they have. I can tell you that they don't have anything worthwhile for you."

Lin Fan shook his head before saying, "Who said that I care about that?"

The short cloaked figure was confused when he heard this before saying, "Then you saved them because you think that you can use them against me? They were nothing more than disposable tools in the first place, so you won't get anything from them about me."

"Who said anything about that?" Lin Fan said with another casual shake of the head.

The short cloaked figure was even more confused when he heard this.

Though his face couldn't be seen, the way that he stood there facing Lin Fan made it clear that he was trying to figure out just what Lin Fan was planning.

Instead of paying attention to the short cloaked figure, Lin Fan just simply tapped Huang Xie on the shoulder and said, "As promised, they're all yours."

Huang Xie slowly gave a nod before reaching up to grab his hood and pull it back from his head to reveal his true appearance.

When his face was revealed, there were many that were confused since they didn't recognize who Huang Xie was.

The current head of the Huang Family was one of those people even though he was Huang Xie's father. It was just that Huang Xie was one of the many children that his concubines had and he wasn't even one of the talented ones, so it wasn't as if he remembered his face at all.

Instead, it was the members of the secret squad that Fourth Master Huang led that actually recognized Huang Xie.

They were the ones that had been in charge of taking care of Huang Xie when he left the Huang Family, so they were the ones that recognized him.

"It's Huang Xie."

This began as a whisper among the cloaked figures of the secret squad before it reached the main members of the Huang Family.

Even though they heard this name, there were many of them that seemed confused as if they had never heard of this name before. It was as if none of them knew who this person was even though they shared a surname.

It was only after a while that the current head of the Huang Family finally seemed to realize something.

"Huang Xie? The son that Hei Mei Hua had?" He said in a slow and deliberate voice as if he was trying to figure out something.

Finally, it all clicked together and there was a wide smile that appeared on his face as he looked at Huang Xie. With this smile on his face, he said, "My son, you've finally returned to the Huang Family."

The way that he said this was as if he was welcoming a long lost son back home.

The only thing that anyone could think after seeing the way that he said this was…

There was not a single trace of shame in this man seeing that he actually said something like this.

The one that everyone was judging didn't seem to care that he was being judged as he said, "Since you've come back, it's only natural that you are a part of our Huang Family. As such, you should take on some of the responsibilities of the Huang Family."

Pointing at the short cloaked figure and Lin Fan, he said, "Naturally, you should help us deal with the intruders of the Huang Family. We'll leave this matter to you."

"Of course you're a part of the Huang Family." The current head of the Huang Family quickly said before adding, "You were born from me, so how could you not be a part of the Huang Family? Since we're related by blood, it is only right that you help us."

The other members of the Huang Family seemed to have the shamelessness of their head rubbing off on them, so they started mirroring him.

Even though there were some that had tried to do everything that they could to ruin Huang Xie's life. It was as if none of them remembered anything that they did before with the way that they were calling to him.

Huang Xie couldn't help slightly knitting his brows when he saw them acting this way.

Eventually, Huang Xie asked, "Then is my mother a part of the Huang Family as well?"

The current head of the Huang Family was caught off guard when he heard this.

It seemed that he didn't really understand what Huang Xie was asking of him, so it seemed that he was having trouble answering this question. But at the same time, he could tell that the longer that he took, the worse it would be.

So in the end, the current head of the Huang Family just said, "Of course she's a part of our Huang Family. She's your mother and my wife, so how could she not be a part of our family?"

"Then why isn't she buried with the rest of the Huang Family?" Huang Xie asked in a cold voice.

Awkward looks appeared on the faces of all the Huang Family members.

Only the current family head of the Huang Family didn't even miss a beat as he said, "What do you mean? I was told that she was buried with the rest of our relatives when she died, why isn't she buried with the Huang Family?"

Lin Fan however had a few words for him.

"Go and take care of your matter. Don't leave behind any regrets."

Huang Xie turned to look at Lin Fan in silence for a bit before slowly giving a nod and saying, "Master, I won't leave behind any regrets."
