Chapter 89 : Touching bottom
Chapter 89 : Touching bottom
I woke up slowly, feeling the fog of unconsciousness gradually clearing from my mind. With effort, I opened my eyes, finding myself dizzy and disoriented. My gaze slid down my body, noticing that my torso was exposed and bandaged around the ribs, a sharp sensation piercing every fiber of my being, leaving me immobile and vulnerable.
Confused reminiscences of the events leading up to my faint flooded my mind, and with a desperate longing, I searched the room for the naked woman who had appeared before I lost consciousness. A shiver ran down my spine as I realized my head rested on her lap, a reality that had gone unnoticed until that moment.
With a forced smile and nerves tightening my words, I stammered a greeting. "H-hello... How are you?" My trembling voice betrayed my uncertainty as I struggled to maintain composure.
"Thank you for rescuing me... and for accepting me as your wife," her voice, soft but firm, resonated in my ears, throwing a new wave of bewilderment over me.
"Wife?" I repeated, my mind swirling as I tried to process the enormity of her words.
"Well, considering the situation, you've practically saved me, and now I find myself with no memories or anywhere to go. I have no one else in this world. You've protected me from corruption, and besides, you have dragon blood running through your veins. All of these are points in your favor, don't you think? So I don't see why you couldn't be my husband.
Plus, you're quite attractive..." Her words flowed with a confidence that left me perplexed, although I noticed the fleeting glint in her eyes as they wandered over my naked torso.
Trying to grasp the situation, I observed her carefully. Her eyes, like burning jewels, seemed to contain a universe of secrets, while her hair, a cascade of reddish tones adorned with tree branches, bestowed upon her figure a majestic presence. Her delicately sculpted face radiated a beauty that defied description, with red lips promising unfathomable mysteries.
"Do you like what you see?" Her tone was teasing, and our eyes met in a gaze that transcended the mundane, creating a connection that surpassed understanding.
"I can't deny that all of this surprises me, but yes, I like what I see," I replied with an attempt at confidence, trying to calm the frantic beating of my heart. I glanced at her attire, an elegant red and black dress adorned with roses that evoked a bygone era. I briefly wondered if she belonged to a forgotten time, although her lost memories complicated any conclusion.
She studied my body with satisfaction, nodding her head. "I like what I see too," she said with a mischievous smile.
Restless about the situation, I voiced my doubts. "Are you sure about this? About becoming my wife?" My nervousness was palpable as I faced an unexpected union amid my own confusion and vulnerability.
She brought a finger to her lips, thoughtful. "My bloodline reacted to yours, according to the vague memories that have passed through my mind, indicating that you are facing a dragon of great power. In such circumstances, it is prudent to establish a relationship. Over time, we could forge a strong and lasting connection. However, I will not allow you to drift away.
You are mine now, and no matter if you reject me, I will not distance myself from you," her eyes gleamed with a brightness that sent a shiver down my spine.
I remembered stories about dragons' possessiveness toward what they considered theirs, including their romantic partners. I swallowed hard, aware of the complexity of the situation and the presence of a possible "yandere" in my life. The legends from the family library about dragons' behavior in marriage came to life before my eyes as I observed the deadly glimmer in hers.
I furrowed my brow slightly; I still didn't have that feeling. Maybe it's because I'm not yet a complete dragon. In fact, this situation is very strange. I never thought that by entering Zone 3, I would encounter an anomaly that turned out to be a beautiful girl trying to save herself from the corruption consuming her. After somehow saving her, she proclaims herself my wife.
Looking into her eyes, which still emitted a dangerous gleam, I think maybe I was lucky. She's beautiful, she's attractive, and she's straightforward in these few moments we've interacted. I don't see anything wrong with her, but the only problem I see is that we don't know each other. However, that could be resolved over time. I recall how my father had a political marriage with the emperor's sister.
Like in any political marriage, love was not an option, but over time my parents got to know each other, and love simply blossomed. So it's not as far-fetched as I initially thought.
Of course, having a wife, considering that I'm the legitimate heir to the duchy, will cause a stir among the people of the empire. But there's a variable: she's a true dragon. If she were a normal person, it would cause me a lot of problems with my family and political relationships, but she's different. As a house of dragons, bloodline is of great importance.
I wouldn't have any problem with her because she's basically a dragon. Our relationship can work without problems. My father will undoubtedly realize that she's not human, and he might even agree, but what kind of dragon is she? Looking at the crown in her hair, I make small assumptions. Her power must somehow be related to nature.
"So, what do you think? Do you accept me?" she asked, staring at me intently, her eyes still carrying that dangerous gleam.
After thinking that it could actually work, I put on a small smile. "Of course, I accept." It's a win-win situation. She's in the Mid-Platinum rank, she's strong, and she should already have her bloodline awakened. She'll definitely be a great help to me in this area for the rest of the month. Plus, since we'll be alone together, we can get closer during that time.
Her smile bloomed like a beautiful rose, but most importantly, her eyes stopped shining with danger. Breathing a sigh of relief, I nodded. I tried to stand up, gritting my teeth as I got up with a little of her help. Looking at my left shoulder, I still had that atrocious cut from my shoulder. Looking at the ring on my finger, I took out the last high-quality potion I have.
Sighing, I uncorked it, and a cold liquid passed down my throat. I felt a tremendous itching all over the cut. Gritting my teeth, I endured the painful regeneration process.
After a few minutes, my left arm was in perfect condition. I made some movements, getting used to this new sensation. She just stayed silent, looking at me curiously. After a few seconds, she stood up, slowly approaching me. She stood in front of me, being a head shorter than me. Feeling a little nervous about her sudden approach, I tried to act confidently.
"What's going on?" I asked with interest.
Her eyes similarly roamed over my entire body, gleaming with interest and mischief. She pursed her beautiful lips. "Hmmm, nothing, I'm just looking at my future husband in great detail," she said with a smile.
Somehow, she made me feel like I was some kind of spectacle, but since she was looking at me so intently, I'll do the same.
Like I said, she's a head shorter. The dress she had on reached down to her feet, perfectly covering her curvaceous body. Everything is in its proper place. She's beautiful and attractive, her aura somehow makes me feel safe and calm. Several thoughts crossed my mind. Opening my eyes a bit wider, I still don't know her name yet.
"What's your name?" I asked curiously.
She furrowed her brows, thinking deeply for a few minutes, lost in her thoughts. She slightly opened her mouth. "Lysandra Bloodmoon," she said softly.
Smiling a bit, I bent down slightly and placed my right hand on my chest. "My name is Anthony Von Valeriano, I hope you take care of me in the future."
I saw from the corner of my eye how she widened her eyes, there was a slight blush on her face. After a few seconds, she bent down and put her delicate hands on her dress, performing the same movement as me. "My name is Lysandra Bloodmoon, I hope you also take care of me in the future, husband."
I could tell that there was some nervousness in her voice. Breathing a sigh of relief, I thought that I was the only one feeling that way.
Straightening up again, I took her small hands in mine and looking her straight in the eyes, I put on a serious expression. "I promise to take care of you and protect you. Haha, it's a bit funny because you're stronger than me, but I'll definitely catch up to you someday."
Her eyes filled with tears, a mix of happiness and sadness. Hugging her delicately, she cried silently, tears of joy but also there was an endless loneliness and sadness.
I don't know how long she had been fighting alone against the corruption in her soul, but it certainly wouldn't have been a pleasant experience. Every day filled with despair and anguish would have been the worst of mental tortures. She is strong in will and mind, she never lost hope that someone would save her. When a person hits rock bottom, they plunge into an endless abyss. That happened to her.
People are easier to understand and manipulate when they hit rock bottom. She, with no memories of her past or even of who she is, has no one. The idea of being alone again scares her, but this is where I come in, light in her dark world. I give her hope for a better life, accompanied, and what better than to commit to the person who saved you?
You'll feel like you can't live without him, you'll feel the urgency to be with him. That's happening to Lysandra. She doesn't want to be alone again. For her, I am her world. Putting a terrifying smile on my face, I hugged her tighter.
"Now you will be mine and mine alone, you will never be able to live without me again," I think internally. A small gleam passes through my eyes. The place around us became darker, the shadows danced silently staring at our bodies joined by a hug, an obsessive and possessive hug, a hug that will last until death...
