Villain's Valor: A Noble Fantasy Resurrection

Chapter 168 Survival event

Chapter 168 Survival event

The magnificence of the magical faculty far exceeded our expectations. It was twenty times larger than our own faculty and stood as the epicenter of magic throughout the academy. Here, the most distinguished wizards congregated, those whose mastery of the arcane arts had earned them a place in this prestigious environment.

The hallways were constructed with transparent crystals that revealed the flow of magical energy permeating the atmosphere. Small orbs of light floated on the walls, adding an ethereal atmosphere to every corner. Students traversing the hallways wore robes, some wielded magic wands, and most carried glasses, along with many carrying large-sized books.

We continued in line, guided by Professor Athena, as we made our way through the imposing hallways. My eyes filled with wonder and curiosity at the spectacle unfolding before me. In an open classroom, I witnessed some students losing control over some type of magic, triggering an explosion that enveloped them in black soot. Their faces and attire were marked by the ashes.

Upon arriving at the grand hall, we were met with a scene full of anticipation and excitement. Students from the other two classes were already dispersed throughout the room, each immersed in their own thoughts and preparing for the challenge that awaited us.

Professor Athena continued leading the way to the front of the hall. Upon reaching a podium, her gaze settled on a girl with silver hair and silver eyes, who seemed absorbed in her own world. The young girl murmured some words as she attentively observed a huge artifact in front of her.

She wore a white robe and adjusted her circle-shaped glasses casually, seemingly oblivious to Professor Athena's presence and the rest of the students.

With gentleness, her fingers occasionally touched the artifact as she made some notes in a notebook. Her concentration was evident, and she seemed to be immersed in deep and meticulous study.

"Kya!" the professor exclaimed as Athena took her by the waist, causing her to jump in fright and almost drop her glasses to the floor. Her silver eyes met Athena's golden ones, as the professor asked with a smile if everything was in order.

The silver-eyed woman adjusted her glasses and, with a weary voice, replied, "Yes, I'm just making some final adjustments." Her eyes reflected weariness as she glanced resentfully at Athena.

"Perfect, I can always rely on you, Crystal," Athena expressed joyfully, referring to her best friend. Their relationship seemed solid, marked by trust; they had been friends since childhood.

"Crystal," I repeated to myself, amazed by the name of the woman who stood before Athena. Crystal, the mage expert in dimensional magic, the number one in her field. There was no one who could match her, and her reputation was legendary among wizards. Like Athena, she too was an elf, but her fate was tragic. I remember she was killed at the end of the second year.

It was a devastating loss for the academy and the empire.

Crystal was a formidable mage, whose mastery in dimensional magic had reached extraordinary levels. It was said that even creatures of Maximum-Ancient rank felt threatened by her power. However, her life came to an abrupt end for a reason that remains shrouded in mystery. No one knew exactly how she died; it just happened overnight.

Her death caused a stir in the academy and throughout the empire. Losing the only 8-star mage classified as a saint level was a hard blow for everyone. Like Athena, Crystal had a true name: "Navigator of the Planes," which reflected her ability to explore and manipulate alternative dimensions with mastery.

The reason the eyes of creatures of Maximum-Ancient rank darkened during the siege of the academy was the presence of Crystal. Her ability was so terrifying that even from a thousand kilometers away, she almost killed a creature of Middle-Ancient rank. Her power was immense, capable of challenging even the most powerful and ancient creatures.

However, months later, Crystal was found dead in her room. This unleashed a wave of speculation and even possible betrayals among the wizards in the academy. Reflecting for a few minutes, my mind raced until I came to a conclusion: she couldn't die. She was too important, too valuable to simply disappear.

After her death, her creations became completely unusable for others. Only she had been able to handle and control her own creations, which resulted in a significant setback in her field of study. The loss of Crystal left an irreplaceable void in the magical world; nobody knew how she died.

The conversation between Professor Athena and Crystal continued for a few minutes, while the other students waited patiently. The minutes passed slowly until suddenly, I could feel the arrival of two more presences at the podium. I looked up and saw the two teachers from the other two classes.

The Pegasus class teacher had a serious and fierce look, with his hands behind his back, adopting a military posture that commanded respect. On the other hand, the Star class teacher wore a shy smile, but it was evident she was nervous to be in front of so many students.

Professor Athena walked forward and placed her hands on her hips. Suddenly, her aura exploded and spread throughout the hall. All the students stiffened and fell silent upon feeling the overwhelming presence of her power. It was evident that Professor Athena had an imposing and dominant aura, capable of controlling everyone present with just her presence. Stay updated with empire

"The event will begin in the next 30 minutes," Professor Athena announced firmly, directing her gaze towards the students. "I understand that your respective teachers have already explained the details of the event, but I'll give a quick overview. The more creatures you kill, the more points you'll earn. If you manage to eliminate all members of a rival group, you'll receive additional points.

Initially, groups of three would be randomly assigned, but the administrators have intervened to ensure balance. Now, the groups will be balanced to avoid having more than one high-level student on the same team, thus ensuring a fair competition without complaints."

Professor Athena paused briefly, reflecting on the event's rules. "The event will last for an entire week," she continued. "You won't be able to bring anything from the real world, but everyone will receive a basic survival kit. You will be given a stone that will allow you to see the rankings of other students, as well as, randomly, the location of all participants.

With each passing second, the space within the dimension will gradually shrink, increasing the intensity of the event. I wish you all the best of luck."
