Chapter 162 I don't have to be late, I don't want to die

The system created by the academy, backed by all the ducal houses, generated fierce competition among the students. If they wanted to have a better life, they had to stand out among the others. However, it was evident that this system was extremely unequal for lower-class students. Find exclusive stories on empire

In the interval of 150 to 200, students received 10,000 points, and every month they received a small commission of an additional 500 points. The other students received nothing more; after all, these were the rules established by the academy.

Despite these inequalities, there were cases where some lower-class students managed to ascend to higher classes. Academic points became the currency of exchange among students. When the teacher mentioned "benefits," she basically referred to a student being able to lend points to another with interest, or even grant points as a favor in exchange for another favor.

Ultimately, each student had the freedom to decide how to use their points, which created an atmosphere of exchange and negotiation among them.

The teacher snapped her fingers once more, and in front of all the students appeared a thin crystal, similar to a cell phone. "This will be your identification in the academy," she announced. "It contains the initial 10,000 points, and as you rise in the ranking, the points you have earned will be added. With these crystals, you'll be able to make transactions and buy what you need."

Despite the importance of this information, the teacher seemed somewhat bored as she explained it. After reflecting for a few seconds, she added: "That's all I think for today. You may leave." With these words, the teacher disappeared, leaving the students to process all the information received.

"Well, not bad, if we forget that she almost crushed us like ants at the beginning, the rest was fine," commented Anthony as he stretched a bit to relax. "Hmph!" responded Charlotte, still a bit annoyed. "It caught me off guard, I definitely could have lasted longer," she added with an angry pout, realizing that she was the first to fall among the duke's children, which hit her ego a bit.

"Yes, whatever you say, miss!" Anthony responded with a playful smile. Charlotte turned her head towards him, looking at him fiercely. "Don't you dare mock me!" she pointed with her small accusing finger. "But it's true," Emily intervened calmly from behind Charlotte. After a few seconds, she looked at her brother with bright eyes. "You're strong, brother," she expressed excitedly.

"How could you withstand the teacher's pressure? You're the only one of the three boys who was still in the Mid-Gold range," Charlotte added, seeming to calm down a bit and asked with curiosity in her bright eyes.

"Well, when I was in the forest, I always had to fight creatures of a higher rank than mine, so I guess you get used to it a bit," Anthony responded humbly.

He saw how Edward and Ezequiel were not found in the course, after a few seconds he began to walk, he didn't want to be late to the teacher's office who knows what that crazy woman would do to him: "See you later sister," Emily nodded: "Yes," Charlotte shouted indignantly "Hey don't forget about me!" with a smile Anthony nodded: "Okay."

After leaving the classroom, Anthony observed how the students chatted animatedly among themselves. They were in the faculty of the three greats, a building that housed the first three classes of the academy. Here were the elite students, considered the geniuses of the institution.

The hallways were lined with white crystals, with huge windows adorned with different designs and colors, similar to stained glass windows in churches.

The students' uniforms were simple but elegant: a black ensemble with a tie of the same color. Women had the option of wearing pants or skirts, which gave them some flexibility in their attire. The hallways were filled with curious students, many of whom had already formed groups of friends.

However, among the crowd, Anthony noticed some commoner students who walked nervously, observing everything around them with bright eyes. For them, this new world of the academy was completely unknown. They never thought they would have enough talent to enter any of these classes.

Anthony wore a peculiar badge on his chest: a simple stone. This stone was the identification of a student in the Primitive class. On the other hand, students from the Star class wore a star-shaped crystal that glowed faintly, while those from the Pegasus class wore a badge shaped like red wings.

These badges not only served as identification but also reflected the level of skill and potential of the students in the academy. For those who wore the Primitive, Star, or Pegasus badges, it was a symbol of pride and an indication of the expectations placed on them in their respective classes.

Anthony looked at the stone with some resentment, feeling it was the most modest among the three badges. Upon leaving the building, he was greeted by a beautiful park, with trees of varied colors and some laden with fruits. Benches and trash cans were distributed throughout the area, while the sun shone overhead and the air carried the sweet aroma of spring. It was a splendid day.

In the streets, Anthony observed cheerful groups of students chatting as they walked. Around him, there were shops, entertainment areas, and spaces designated for practicing magic and weapon handling. Everything a student could need was within reach.

Consulting the map on the crystal of his badge, he searched for the administrative faculty of first-year teachers. After a few seconds, he located its location about 5 kilometers away. Anthony frowned; if he walked, he would definitely be late. Without wasting time, his appearance turned dark, disappearing from the daylight. It was much faster to travel through the shadows.

Anthony immersed himself in the experience of traveling through the shadows. It was comforting and tranquil, surrounded only by darkness. It felt as if he had entered a completely different dimension, where darkness was the only ruler. However, for Anthony, this darkness was not unsettling; rather, it provided him with a sense of calm and security as he moved quickly towards the faculty.
