Chapter 115 : Titan
Chapter 115 : Titan
The creature remained motionless, hidden behind the veil of shadows, silently observing from its hiding spot behind the tree. Its presence, though invisible to the naked eye, was as palpable as an impending storm, filling the air with an electric tension that seemed almost tangible.
We, aware of its presence but unable to perceive it directly, stood still, holding our breath as silent curses danced in our thoughts. If it weren't for Lysandra's keen perception, we would have been completely defenseless against a possible surprise attack.
My eyes locked onto the creature intently, trying to capture every detail of its being. Its orb, though seemingly radiating a dark silver glow akin to the shimmer of stars, concealed a darker and more sinister secret at its core. Deep within its gleaming gaze lurked the corruption that had consumed its soul, a boundless darkness, fierce and malicious.
Quickly calculating, I assessed the creature's rank. Though its outward appearance might deceive some, I knew that its true power lay deep within its being. With a Mid-Platinum rank.
Having the same rank as Lysandra, the titan remained equally motionless, staring at us intently from its concealed position. None of us moved, each caught in an intense and tension-filled stare-down.
Suddenly, an explosion of pure killing intent erupted from the titan's body, shaking the air around it with terrifying force.
BOOOM!! A deafening roar echoed as the tree behind it exploded into pieces, disintegrating like a mere twig before its power. The fallen trunk added another thunderous sound to the cacophony, revealing the complete appearance of the titan.
Rising majestically to a height of ten meters, the titan exuded an imposing and threatening presence. The proportions of its body were irregular and intimidating: while its left arm appeared thin and fragile, its right counterpart was hugely muscular and disproportionately large.
Its posture, slightly leaning to its right side, suggested an anatomical imbalance, but its fierce and penetrating gaze never wavered from our position.
The titan's appearance was shrouded in a matte dark stone armor, giving it an imposing and ominous look. Along its colossal body, small cracks could be discerned crossing the surface of the rock, as if they were scars from past battles, testimonies of the conflicts it had endured.
A black stain covered a part of its side, from where emanated a trail of dark blood contrasting with the grayish tone of its stony skin.
The thought of whether the titan was injured fleetingly crossed my mind, and a quick glance towards Lysandra confirmed my suspicions. Without the need for words, her nod confirmed my fears.
Drawing my sword from its sheath on my ring, I gave Elsa a firm look and indicated, "Stay behind." It was evident that in this situation, Elsa's safety depended on staying in the rear. Since she was the weakest in combat capability among us, it was crucial for her to remain protected from any potential danger while we faced the titan.
Lysandra slowly moved her hands, and a thin sword made entirely of her wood rose from the ground, her figure disappearing.
RISE! The titan moved with surprising speed, intercepting Lysandra's sword strike with its powerful muscular arm. The wooden sword resisted the impact of the clash, but waves of energy spread through the air, shaking the surrounding environment with its force.
Without wasting a second, I agilely ran, executing my footwork skillfully as I approached the titan. My sword began to throb in my hand, emitting an intense glow that cut through the darkness of the forest. My eyes were fixed on the titan's right side, where the dark blood spread like an ominous stain.
Our plan was simple but effective: while Lysandra distracted the titan with her attacks, I would seize the opportunity to strike its weak point. It was a strategy we devised back in Zone 3, and since we already trusted each other, coordinating our attacks was much easier.
But facing a Mid-Platinum Titan was not going to be as straightforward as we hoped. Its left arm, which seemed fragile at first glance, moved with astonishing speed, unleashing an attack that caught me by surprise. I widened my eyes, alert to the sudden danger, and quickly went on the defensive with my sword.
BOOM! Clink! The sound of the collision resonated throughout the area, and I felt my arms numb under the impact. My sword vibrated violently in my hands, and a moment later, I was thrown backward with tremendous force.
With a roar of pain, I landed heavily on the ground, my sword falling with a clatter beside me. However, before it could impact, I had coated my body with my protective aura, which partially cushioned the blow and reduced the pain. After a few seconds of rolling on the ground, I managed to stand up with difficulty.
Elsa ran towards me with evident concern in her voice. "Are you okay?" she asked as she approached, and I noticed a small bottle in her hand, ready to help.
A red liquid spurted from my mouth, but with a calm gesture, I wiped it away with my mana before responding. "Don't worry, I'm fine," I reassured her with a forced smile. "It's just that thing is really strong."
Despite the injuries, the titan remained an imposing force. Feeling a sense of relief as the pain began to fade due to the recovery position, I quickly bid farewell to Elsa, focusing my attention on the task at hand.
With an agile movement, I shifted towards the titan's right side, while Lysandra gave me a small complicit smile. Gripping my sword firmly with both hands, I infused it with my aura. The glow emanating from my sword began to merge with the blade, transforming it before my eyes, becoming even thinner and finer.
Now, completely black and devoid of reflections, the sword took on a more subtle and lethal form, absorbing the light around it without emitting any reflection.
My previous research and experiments with my sword had taught me that it had the ability to change shape according to my needs. It could grow to increase its reach and offensive power, or shrink to enhance its speed and precision in combat. However, achieving these transformations required meticulous control of my mana.
