Villain's Valor: A Noble Fantasy Resurrection

Chapter 113 : Magic

Chapter 113 : Magic

Feeling the discomfort twisting in my stomach again, I furrowed my brow with frustration. No matter how many times I experience it, I never seem to get used to teleportation. The space around us twisted and warped, causing my expression to oscillate between bewilderment and discomfort for the next few seconds, until everything finally returned to normal.

However, my mind continued to spin like a carousel, dizzy from the experience.

"Damn it," I muttered resentfully, casting a glance at Lysandra and Elsa. They remained as unperturbed as ever, as if teleportation hadn't affected their senses at all. Even when they noticed my pale expression, their lips curled into mocking and obvious smiles.

A shadow of irritation darkened my face. When would the day come when I'd get used to this? Hearing their giggles only served to increase my discontent.

"You can stop laughing at me!" I exclaimed, standing up abruptly. A sudden dizziness overwhelmed me as my stomach churned intensely. It took several minutes before the sensation of nausea finally subsided and I could feel renewed, at least physically.

Looking around us, we found ourselves in a vast expanse of forest unfolding before our eyes. The trees, towering and majestic, were identical to those one could find on Earth. In fact, this forest was surprisingly similar to any other forest on Earth. The sky, clear and radiant, stretched overhead in a beautiful shade of blue, without a single cloud in sight.

Even the sun, with its warm and comforting glow, was present, bathing the landscape in a golden and welcoming light.

At first glance, this forest seemed as normal and welcoming as one could imagine. However, deep down, I felt a slight twinge of melancholy as I remembered the land I had left behind. Shaking my head to clear my unnecessary thoughts, I forced myself to focus on the task ahead.

The three of us exchanged determined looks as we advanced into the forest, or more precisely towards Zone 4. We only had a month to discover the location of the coveted flower. During this time, Elsa, whenever she found a spare moment, delved into the guild library in search of additional clues.

Despite her tireless efforts, all she managed to unearth in that month of research was a vague reference to a hidden treasure supposedly located in the Lake of Perdition. However, further investigations revealed that this area was prohibited by the guild, with the warning that numerous adventurers had disappeared in it.

Upon learning of the potential danger of the situation, we came to a unanimous decision: we must take precautionary measures. Aware that Elsa and I were the ones at greatest risk, we agreed among ourselves that in case we felt in imminent danger of death, we would activate the teleportation scroll to quickly get out of the situation.

Meanwhile, we watched the tranquility with which Lysandra moved through the forest, seemingly unaware of the forest's dangers.

Ema's POV

Ema furrowed her brow as she held the bulky title of the book in her hands: "Principles of Mana." Observing the thickness of the book, a shiver ran down her spine, leaving her with a sense of unease.

Sitting on the floor of the room she now shared with her parents, she remembered Lysandra's words with a mix of anxiety and apprehension: "As soon as I come back, I'll give you a lesson on this book." Although Lysandra's smile was warm and welcoming, her eyes conveyed a seriousness that made the importance of what was to come clear. Ema's small body trembled slightly at the thought.

The parents watched their daughter with a hint of compassion in their eyes. Although they were happy for her and her new opportunity to learn, they had witnessed enough moments when Lysandra became enraged. Roberto and Nicol felt a chill run down their spines as they remembered a particular day when Anthony had done something that angered Lysandra, with them present.

At that moment, as they observed Lysandra's empty eyes, filled with pure obsession, their souls trembled with fear. Although the episode lasted only a few seconds, it was enough to fill them with unease. What surprised them the most was Anthony's apparent satisfaction with Lysandra's attitude, which added an element of disturbance to the situation.

Ema's little eyes filled with determination. Although Lysandra could be somewhat harsh with her, she knew it was all for her own good. With renewed determination, Ema opened the book and began to read. Encountering some words and concepts she didn't quite understand, she remembered the recordings Lysandra had left especially for her on some stones.

Carefully, Ema took one of the stones and activated the recording, allowing Lysandra's voice to guide her through the complexities of mana principles and magic practice.

Additionally, she found another stone containing detailed instructions on how to circulate mana for beginners, as well as some basic spells mentioned in the book. Ema squeezed the two stones tightly in her hands, feeling a wave of gratitude towards Lysandra for her generosity and dedication in helping her learn and grow as a mage.

Days passed, and Ema continued to flip through pages in her endeavor to master the content of the book. At first, she faced difficulties in understanding the early sections, but with the help of the stones recorded by Lysandra, she was able to progress with more confidence. Her parents, aware of the importance of her study, rarely distracted her.

They only called her for meals, bringing her water, refreshing drinks, and some fruits to keep her energized. From morning till evening, Ema immersed herself in the world of magic, dedicating every available moment to her learning.

With time, her enthusiasm grew even more, and with bright eyes of excitement, she began to share with her mother what she had learned about mana manipulation. Even her older brother contributed to her progress by leaving her some low-grade mana stones, which would gradually help increase her magical energy reserves.

Fortunately, since the magic she practiced was low-level, it didn't cause too much damage in the room, allowing her to practice safely and freely. With each passing day, Ema felt more confident and capable in mastering magic.
