Chapter 53 Against Olympian Champions
Chapter 53 Against Olympian Champions
The Speedtails and the Bugatti streaked through the empty road like streaks of lightning, leaving chaos in their wake. The air was no longer still thick with the sound of sirens and helicopters, even the road ahead started to clear.
Parker glanced at his phone for a split second, the livestream's chat still blowing up.
"Bruh, if we get caught, you know they're pinning everything on us," he said.
"Define everything," Tessa replied, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
"Oh, I dunno," Parker said, his voice mockingly thoughtful. "Reckless driving, property damage, destruction of police vehicles—oh, and maybe a little felony evasion for spice. You know."
Tessa laughed, the sound bubbling up like she'd been holding it in. "Do you have any idea how much my dad spends on lawyers every year? Let's just say this little stunt? Chump change."
"You're impossible," Parker muttered, shaking his head, but he couldn't help smirking.
"Why would I care about a bunch of fines? It's not like anyone's catching me," Tessa said with a grin so wide Parker could practically feel it through the phone.
But even as the words left her mouth, the universe must've decided it was time for a little karmic payback.
"Careful, you're gonna jinx it," Parker warned, a teasing edge to his voice.
"Jinx it? Please." Tessa scoffed, slamming her accelerator for emphasis. "Like that's even a thing."
Ahead, the Bugatti slowed just enough for them to match its speed.
"Now what's she doing?" Tessa asked, irritation bleeding into her voice.
"Maybe she knows something we don't," Parker said, narrowing his eyes.
The road stretched out in front of them, the dark asphalt was empty. For the first time all day, it felt like they were being funneled somewhere, the absence of traffic almost eerie.
Then they saw him.
Standing dead center in the middle of the road was a figure that practically glowed. His suit looked like it was made of molten gold, catching the faint light from the streetlamps like it was alive. His eyes burned with the same golden intensity, sharp and unrelenting, and his hair seemed to shimmer, flowing like liquid sunlight.
"Oh, shit," Parker muttered, his knuckles whitening as he tightened his grip on the wheel.
Tessa blinked, her mouth hanging open for a second. "Is that—? Are we seeing the same thing right now?"
"Yup."
"And he's not alone."
There was another figure.
"What the fuck did you jinx us into?" Parker said, his voice a mix of disbelief and barely-contained panic not of fear but the thrill. The mission had been accomplished.
Tessa's laughter cracked through the tension like a whip, wild and untamed. "Why did I say it?! Damn it, why did I have to say it? But it's worth it, being escorted to police by Captain Sun? We will be the most popular criminals for a month!"
The Bugatti's brake lights flared briefly, its driver apparently just as caught off guard.
"Okay, okay," Parker said, trying to focus. "What's the play?"
Tessa's voice was unusually quiet for a beat, and then she said, almost reverently, "I think we're fucked."
The icy figure ahead shimmered like something out of a dream—or maybe a nightmare. Her armor glistened like frost catching the morning sun, its sharp edges reflecting golden hues that didn't belong to her world. She moved with a grace that screamed power, her crystalline bow resting easily in her hand like it was an extension of her soul.
If gods existed, this woman wasn't far off.
"Yo… why is she ignoring the Bugatti?" Tessa's voice came through the comm, laced with disbelief and amusement. "Did you piss her off or something? Dump her in another life?"
Parker scoffed, but the way his hands tightened on the wheel gave away his unease. "Maybe I'm just too handsome for her to handle." His voice was cocky, but inside, alarms were screaming at him to stop. Something about that woman wasn't normal—far from normal even for an Olympian!
Ahead of them, Captain Sun stood tall, his golden suit radiating like a second sunrise. His stance was firm, muscles coiled like he was ready to tear their cars apart with his bare hands.
"Oh my God!" Tessa laughed, her voice tinged with hysteria. "Captain fucking Sun! My hero! And he's about to fuck us up, hahaha!"
"Tessa," Parker's voice was a sharp bark, "focus. We drive, alright. When I tell to do something later, do it, okay? Let's fuck 'em up too."
Tessa's laughter died down into something almost maniacal. "Duh. What else are we gonna do, apologize?"
Just then, a familiar ding echoed in Parker's head with a following mission.
[New mission generated!]
Objective: Escape the Olympian Champions.
Reward: A Pet!]
Parker's smirk twisted into something feral. "Olympian Champions, huh? So I was right…" He leaned forward, adrenaline surging through his veins.
And Pet? That was sounded so intriguing and tempting.
"We drive!" he ordered her.
Tessa slammed her accelerator. "You don't have to tell me twice."
The green Speedtails shot forward, weaving around the Bugatti like it wasn't even there. Parker's eyes stayed locked on the icy goddess ahead as her bow rose.
"Stop the car or I will shoot!" She said, her soft cold voice reaching his ears.
"You gotta be kidding me," he muttered.
Her movements were smooth as ice. She drew back the bowstring, and a shimmering arrow of pure frost materialized, glowing with an otherworldly energy.
"She's aiming at you, dude!" Tessa hollered.
Parker's lips curled into a daring grin. "Guess she's got taste."
The arrow released with a snap, and the air itself seemed to shatter as it screamed toward him. Parker's instincts flared, his body moving as fast as his mind...
The arrow shot forward like a fragment of divinity, its icy glow radiating an unearthly power that seemed to hum with the will of the gods themselves.
He yanked the wheel, throwing the car into a drift, but the arrow curved mid-air, relentless in its pursuit.
"Fuck!" Parker growled, slamming the accelerator again to straighten out. His hand shot out, his telekinesis surging like an electric current through his veins.
Time seemed to slow. The arrow was a blur of icy power, spinning through the air with deadly precision. Parker's mind locked onto it, the force of his telekinesis grappling with the magic imbued within it.
The arrow wavered, its path twisting as if fighting against his will. Parker clenched his jaw, sweat beading on his forehead, his mind nearly exploding from pressure as he poured everything he had into redirecting it.
Finally, the arrow veered off course, grazing the roof of his car with a sharp screech. The impact sent a spray of frost across the windshield, but the Speedtail held steady.
"Holy shit," Tessa's voice crackled through the comm. "You actually—"
Before she could finish, Parker's car fishtailed, the tail end slamming into the still stunned icy goddess with enough force to send her sprawling.
The car as it slammed into the icy goddess with a shattering force, fragments of frost and ethereal light exploding like shards of a broken star.
At the same time, Captain Sun lunged at Tessa's car, his hands outstretched to grab the hood.
"Stop and then Spin!" Parker's voice was a command through the phone.
She smiled, a grin wide confusing Captain Sun, he was a second slower... He caught empty air for fraction as the car had suddenly stopped.
With a speed of lightning she started stepped the accelerator again, Tessa's hands then jerked the wheel, spinning her Speedtail just as Captain Sun's fingers brushed the metal. The sudden movement threw him off balance, giving her just enough time to escape his grip.
"What is he?!" she gasped, her knuckles white on the steering wheel.
"Trouble," Parker replied, his voice steady despite the chaos.
As her car spun, Parker's telekinesis flared again extending his arm towards her, and Tessa's Speedtail scraped the road before slamming into Captain Sun, sending him flying backward.
Tessa's eyes widened, the car had slammed into Captain Sun without even her control, it felt like it had moved like it had a mind of it's own.
"Now drive like your life depends on it!" Parker shouted.
Tessa didn't need to be told twice. Both Speedtails roared as they tore down the road, leaving the wreckage of their encounter behind.
For some reason, the Olympian Champions didn't follow. The Bugatti didn't come with them too, but Parker didn't care.
"Blackstone Tower?" Tessa asked, her voice trembling with a mix of adrenaline and disbelief.
"Yeah," Parker replied, his voice was a bit weak his eyes narrowing. "Let's go."
As they sped away, the sunlight reflecting off their cars, Parker couldn't shake the feeling that this was far from over.
