Chapter 84: Another Stomach Ache
"Stomach ache..."
It was Saturday, and the rowdiest member of the dorm had already left campus.
Ning Chu rarely got the chance to sleep in, but today he did, right until noon. However, as soon as he opened his eyes, he felt a strange pain in his lower abdomen.
Nothing significant had triggered any plot events recently, right?
No, definitely not. He was sure of it. After all, ever since he dealt with Shan Shan, Wen Yang hadn’t interacted with any other girls this week.
In this silly novel, if the protagonist didn’t interact with any females, it couldn’t be considered a plot event at all.
Having slept too long, Ning Chu’s head throbbed slightly, and the pain in his abdomen was intense. It radiated through his lower belly, waist, and even his buttocks, leaving him feeling numb with pain. He couldn’t help but frown, feeling irritated and frustrated.
"Why is my stomach suddenly hurting again? Did I set the air conditioner too low and get a stomachache?"
Ning Chu muttered to himself in confusion as he stretched lazily and sat up, yawning repeatedly. He ran a hand through his tangled hair, his eyes tearing up from the effort. As he scanned the dorm, he noticed a few things.
The bed opposite him was a mess, with blankets scattered everywhere. Wang Jie was beneath it, neck craned forward as he played a game, his face almost glued to the computer screen. Zhang Shaoqing’s desk, unusually tidy, showed signs that he had tidied up before leaving.
“Wang Jie, where’s Wen Yang?” Ning Chu asked, rubbing his eyes with one hand and his abdomen with the other.
“He went out.”
“Went out?!”
His drowsiness vanished instantly, and he forgot all about the persistent pain in his lower abdomen. He quickly flipped out of bed and climbed down the ladder.
In a rush, he ran to the balcony to check the bathroom, then hastily slipped on his sandals, preparing to leave.
“Where did he go?”
“Why don’t you call him and ask?”
Ning Chu’s hand was already on the doorknob when he realized he could just call Wen Yang.
That guy! Sneaking out without saying a word again!
Last time, he had secretly gone to a bar to meet those twin girls. What was he up to this time?
Ning Chu’s face darkened as he dialed Wen Yang’s number, then grabbed his casual clothes and a few band-aids before heading to the bathroom.
“Beep... beep...”
A minute passed, but there was no answer.
He changed clothes even faster, his mind racing with thoughts of where Wen Yang might have gone.
Ning Chu had managed to disrupt all the potential plotlines with their classmates. This time, it could be something outside of school, with students from other classes, other departments, or even other colleges...
The scope was too broad, making it impossible to track down!
“Hello?”
Finally, the call connected.
“Where did you go!” Ning Chu demanded anxiously. “Why did you leave on your own?”
“Huh?” Wen Yang sounded a bit bewildered. He rarely heard Ning Chu sound so frazzled, and his own tone softened immediately. “I’m just at the library, reading...”
He quickly added, “There are no girls around, don’t worry.”
“I’m coming over!”
Ning Chu had just finished dressing, hastily running a hand through his hair before bolting out of the dorm in his sandals.
“Can you bring back something for me...?” Wang Jie started to ask, but by the time he turned around, the door had already closed behind Ning Chu. He mumbled to himself, “What’s the rush?”
As Ning Chu jogged out of the dormitory building, his urgent pace slowed, and he unconsciously pressed a hand against his stomach.
The running had only intensified the pain in his lower abdomen, leaving his lips pale. No matter how anxious he was, his legs just wouldn’t cooperate.
“Should be fine, right?”
This past week, Ning Chu had employed a strategy of strictly controlling Wen Yang, not allowing him to have any contact with females. This high-pressure approach was bound to make Wen Yang feel resistant, but that was exactly what Ning Chu had hoped for.
But Wen Yang sneaking off to cheat on him wasn’t part of the plan at all!
“Damn it!”
If Wen Yang triggered some plot event at the library...
Ning Chu calculated the situation. If he interfered with the plot once or twice more, there was a good chance he’d be permanently transformed into a female.
“So annoying!”
The pain in his abdomen, combined with the current situation, made him incredibly irritable. He lashed out, kicking a utility pole, only to hurt himself more, his face turning even paler.
This just made him angrier!
He pulled out his phone in frustration, ready to call Wen Yang again, but his eyes fell on the reminder in his notes app.
“...”
Suddenly, it clicked! Last month, around the middle of the month, he’d had a similar stomachache that lasted several days.
Ning Chu blinked, opening his notes and skimming through the entries.
“September 16, stomach pain.”
Well, that’s a relief. It’s still a few days until the 16th!
He tried to reassure himself but couldn’t help searching “menstrual cycle” in his browser, and his expression quickly darkened.
According to what he found online, periods don’t follow the strict one-month cycle most guys assume. The timing can vary—some people have them every twenty-something days, others every thirty days...
And it’s normal for periods to be a few days early or late.
“No way, right?”
Ning Chu pressed a hand against his lower abdomen, pushing down slightly. His brows furrowed in worry as he recalled all the strange things his body had gone through since he crossed over into this world.
In fact, even before the plot had begun, his body had shown signs of feminization.
Like his constantly protruding chest, his overly petite figure, his high-pitched voice...
“So, does that mean I was a girl from the start?”
He had originally thought the feminization was due to the plot closing in on him, that it was inevitable no matter what he did... and he was right, but he had misunderstood the cause.
“No wonder my little buddy has been so unenthusiastic...”
Turns out it was just for show!
His body must have had a full set of female organs from the start, otherwise, he wouldn’t be having periods!
“It’s too soon to draw any conclusions,” he muttered, trying to calm himself down. “If it still hurts in a couple of days, then I’ll know for sure. It’s probably just because I caught a chill.”
“Ning Chu!”
Ning Chu looked up to see Wen Yang emerging from a nearby teaching building, heading straight toward him.
As Wen Yang got closer, he immediately noticed Ning Chu’s unease and hurried to explain himself, “I called out to you this morning, but you were sleeping too soundly to wake up.”
“I was really just reading. The only person I spoke to all morning was the librarian when I returned a book.”
Wen Yang anxiously searched Ning Chu’s face for any signs of anger. “What’s wrong with you?”
“My stomach hurts.”
“Again?” Wen Yang was taken aback, quickly connecting the dots. He asked cautiously, “Didn’t your stomach hurt around this time last month too?”
“Yeah, so?”
This was the key evidence Wen Yang needed to confirm Ning Chu was a girl!
Wen Yang’s eyes lit up. If Ning Chu’s stomach continued to hurt over the next couple of days, and if he could find any evidence of sanitary pads...
He could finally confirm that Ning Chu was a girl. Then, if he had some physical reaction or fantasies about her, it would be completely normal, right?
“Let’s get lunch at the cafeteria?”
“Sure.” Ning Chu sighed weakly, glancing at Wen Yang with a puzzled expression. “Why do you seem so happy about this?”
“No, I’m not. Why would I be?”
