The atmosphere in the Xiao family’s living room was tense.
Both the Xiao and Gu families had gathered, and everyone wore serious expressions.
Gu Jin, Xiao Yize, and Feng Jue were at the computer, rapidly checking surveillance footage. Gu Jin had also called Su Ye over to assist.
Ruan Xueling was filled with worry but refrained from interrupting them. Tong Wan, equally concerned but more informed, knew that Gu Yang wasn’t in immediate danger. She gently held Ruan Xueling’s hand, saying, “Our daughter will be fine.”
Ruan Xueling nodded, though the anxiety in her eyes lingered.
Xiao Dingkun and Xiao Zhenggan were engaged in a serious discussion, making plans to mobilize more resources within the capital.
Meanwhile, Grandpa Xiao sat calm and composed, his old but sharp eyes scanning the room with quiet authority.
The Xiao family’s investigation was being conducted swiftly and methodically, giving Gu Zhaoming and Ruan Xueling a measure of reassurance.
Xiao Yize, his face cold and serious, quickly reported, “There’s no sign of suspicious activity at the public airports in the capital today. We can rule out the possibility that the criminals left the city on a commercial flight.”
He added, “Nine private jets have departed the capital today.”
Among the nine departures, six were helicopters. Two were fire-fighting helicopters on emergency missions, three were rescue helicopters from Ji Family hospitals sent to pick up critical patients, and one was a private helicopter belonging to the Ye family, used by the Ye mother and daughter for a trip to a nearby province.
While the surveillance footage for the fire helicopters was intact, the cameras for the Ji Family’s rescue helicopters and the Ye Family’s private helicopter had mysteriously lost power.
“As for the three private planes that left the capital, they belonged to the Ning family, the Bai family, and the Ji family. Surveillance footage for these flights was also cut off and cannot be retrieved.”
Tracking the aircraft was simple, but with so many surveillance outages, it was clear that Utopia had thrown up deliberate smokescreens.
Gu Jin added, “There are no irregularities in the surveillance cameras at the water transport ports in the surrounding cities.”
Feng Jue confirmed, “And there are no abnormalities on the streets or in the shopping malls across the capital.”
It was becoming clear that air transport was the key.
Xiao Dingkun sent teams to the Ye, Ning, Ji, and Bai families to investigate and gather evidence.
Although they were conducting their own investigations, to expedite the process, Xiao Dingkun also called for satellite surveillance to track the three private planes that had left the country and verify their landing locations.
After all, if Utopia intended to smuggle someone out of the country, they would likely avoid using helicopters for the entire journey.
However, the possibility remained that Utopia could have transported Gu Yang out of the capital via helicopter, then switched to a plane. This would be more time-consuming, though.
Given the timing, the three international planes from the Ning, Bai, and Ji families were the most suspicious.
When the Ye family learned of the situation, Ye Hanchen immediately handed over the surveillance footage from their private airport to Xiao Cheng.
The helicopter was the Ye family’s private property, and although they didn’t know exactly when the onboard surveillance had stopped, the footage before boarding confirmed that Gu Yang had not been with them.
Despite Qin Shuzhen and Ye Qingzi’s frustration at having their vacation suddenly cut short, they returned to the capital to cooperate with the investigation after Ye Hanchen’s call.
This essentially cleared the Ye family of suspicion.
Bai Shao, the head of the Bai family, was equally surprised by the blackout of his private plane’s surveillance cameras. To prove his innocence and avoid offending the Xiao family, he immediately had someone contact the plane currently traveling overseas and restored its onboard surveillance. He also provided the footage to clear his name.
However, the Ning and Ji families refused to share their planes’ surveillance footage, citing privacy concerns.
In the end, satellite surveillance revealed that the private jets of the Ji and Ning families had landed in Continent O and Continent M, respectively.
