Leading the way, Relia headed straight for the reception counter.

Waiting there was an older Lamia with a gentle-looking face.

However, despite her unassuming appearance, she was in actuality, quite strong.

'Seems that she's level fifty-eight. That's pretty high-level for an innkeeper.' Marcus thought after appraising the Lamia.

Of course, it was fairly obvious why someone so powerful was running this place. In case of unruly outsiders making trouble, she could respond swiftly and with overwhelming force.

When Relia reached the counter, the Lamia running the counter held out her hands and motioned to over twenty wooden tags, each with the name of a different language on it.

Relia almost reflexively pointed at one written in a language that Marcus, Lyra, and Quillon did not recognize, before indicating the tag written in the language spoken in Borealia and Tralenstein.

"Welcome back Relia. It's unusual for you to have others with you. And I'm guessing from your choice of language, that they've come from the surface." The Lamia said with a sense of familiarity, and a hint of curiosity.

"It's good to see you again too, Yisia. As you've surmised, these three are from Borealia and Tralenstein. Their special guests of my master. I've been tasked with escorting them."

"Oh! How exciting. Tell me more."

Yisia happily continued to chat with Relia like they were old friends.

It was difficult to tell if she was just interested in hearing about what Relia was up to as a friend, or if she was trying to gather information.

"As much as I enjoy speaking with you Yisia, we've had a long journey to get here. I think that my companions would like to get some rest. We can catch up with each other later."

"Yes, I suppose I shouldn't talk your ears off right when you just arrived. I also shouldn't dally too long when I'm still working. The last thing I need is for Iztli to come down on me again."

After accepting a pouch of magic cores from Relia, Yisia pulled out three identical keys and handed one to Marcus, Lyra, and Relia.

"Your room is number sixty-four, on the top floor. If you need anything, feel free to ask." Yisia said once she had finished registering their party.

Relia thanked their host before heading towards the stairs leading up. She had been here many times before and knew the buildings layout well.

Soon they reached the top floor of the six-story building.

There were only four rooms on this level, with all of them being large and lavish suites that only esteemed guests were allowed to use.

"Okay, feel free to lounge about here, or go down to the lobby and enjoy the inn's hospitality. Just please don't wander around. I need to go around and gather some intel, and I don't want to come back an learn that you three caused some sort of incident." Relia said, impressing upon her travel companions the importance of following her directions.

"Don't worry, we won't cause any trouble. I'm a bit curious about this town and want to explore, but I'll wait until you are free." Marcus responded.

Relia still did not look completely convinced, but she could not just bring them along with her. It would make it far too difficult for her to move about with them in tow. As people from the surface, they stood out like sore thumbs.

After Relia had left, Marcus and Lyra decided to go and try out the local delicacies that were being served in the inn. They did not bring Quillon along since the culture of this town was undoubtably matriarchal. He would not receive the best treatment even if he did accompany them.

Back on the ground floor, they found an empty table and sat down.

Marcus then waved over one of the Lamias that was serving the other outsiders staying at the inn.

Except, before the young Lamia waitress could reach them, Yisia suddenly appeared and said something to her.

With a differential bow, the younger Lamia moved over to a different table.

"Sorry about that. I'm the only one here that's truly fluent in your language. That young girl knows a bit, but it would have been difficult for to take your orders accurately seeing as this is your first time here." Yisia said with an apologetic smile.

"It's no problem. We're visitors here and understand that things aren't going to be the same as what we're used to." Marcus said, wearing an easygoing expression. "There's also no need for you to be so wary. We aren't planning on starting and trouble."

Yisia face momentarily warped into one of surprise when Marcus gave her his assurance. From the second they had arrived, she had sensed that they were far stronger than her and had been on guard the entire time.

Naturally she had done her best to mask her apprehension, but both Marcus and Lyra were at a high enough level where they could pick up even minute facial expressions if they focused.

"Guess I can't hide anything from you two." Yisia said with a nervous chuckle. "It's not often that people as powerful as both of you visit our humble town. Relia's already around as strong as Iztli, and I figure that the two of you are even stronger. I was afraid that either of you got upset, things might turn violent. Glad to see that neither of you are that type."

With Marcus coming right out and addressing Yisia's worries, she felt more at ease. If they really were the kind of people that would become aggressive over even the smallest slight, then they likely would not have bothered with assuring her.

"Until we reach our destination, Lyra and I are pretty much considering this trip as a vacation. So, we'd really be grateful if you could recommend some of the local cuisine and drinks."

"Heh, to think that anyone would be able to traverse the Darklands and consider it as some form of leisure. I suppose that is the privilege of the strong." Yisia said with a wry smile.

She then told Marcus and Lyra about what was currently available. Some of them being rare items which she normally would not offer to the inn's guests.

"Alright, I'll see to it that your orders get out to you posthaste."

With that, Yisia disappeared into the building's kitchen to personally oversea the items that Marcus and Lyra had requested.
