Chapter 258 The Final Semester (5)
Hmm, from my status it is obvious that my mind defence or mind attack skill section is pretty weak here. For the Soul Attack/Defence section, I have a secondary profession that can fill the gap as I rank up but for the Mind section, there is no such privilege.
I only have three skills regarding the Mind and only one Resistance. Of course, I don't think that there is more than one resistance in that category but I should look into it to be sure of it.
Regarding skills, they are more than enough for now but their levels are too low. As I said before, the Soul skills come at max level, making it easy and powerful to use. Sure, I can't exert full power without having a higher rank.
For the Mind Skills, which have not even reached level 10, they are not even considered average in my book. I had to invest a lot of time and resources in those skills to make them average. To reach the top, would be much more difficult than improving physical or magical skills.
I mean, skills are improved by using them continuously, but unlike physical skills or magical skills that are easy to use, Mind Skills aren't.
I can practise those other skills on dummies but mind skills need live targets, which are very difficult to find.
I can practise on low-ranking monsters but they are low-ranking and lack sufficient intelligence, meaning the skill experience that can be gained would be too low.
Using the skill on higher-ranking monsters would yield higher experience in skill but that's very difficult.
It was said that the monsters would gain intelligence once they crossed Tier-6 and reached Tier-7. In that rank, no creature is easy to control, whether it is a humanoid or monster.
There is no way that I can use mind skills on a Tier-7 creature.
Since monsters don't earn me much experience to level up my skills, I can only try them on humans (no other humanoids live around the area where I live), but that is easier said than done.
If I accidentally fry up their minds, then it is worse than killing them. This is why Mind Skills are usually not sold in the market or auction no matter how much they are sold for.
It was illegal to sell these skills and also to use them on fellow humans. Of course, if these are used on criminals, no one would say anything against that but as a student, coming face-to-face with criminals is not in the job description at this point.
That could only happen if he takes on a mission and disappears from the academy for a long time. Students were supposed to complete the missions as soon as possible and return to the academy or the academy may think that the student has either failed to complete the mission or died during the mission.
It happened to me, after that monster tide that happened last semester.
I was resting for a day or two after returning but the mission hall assumed that I perished in that mission. A few students did and the mission hall assumed that I did too.
After all, in a scenario like that monster tide, it would be considered to even find a few pieces of dead. The monsters are a lot and they wouldn't let go of the food, the main reason that they invaded in the first place.
Many who died there, didn't even have a piece to bury. Their families had to fake bury them to get some piece. Only a few dead bodies were collected and recognized. Others were gone or not recognizable and were burnt there and then.
It would be quite a hassle if the academy would think that I died again. Moreover, it is less than five months before I graduate. It's better to not take risks and train in the academy in these last months.
I can train those Mind Skills when I go out on my world tour after graduation. I am sure that there would be no lack of criminals on that journey. For now, I may have to think about training my other skills as usual. There is no other way out for me at this point.
The problem was that except for those damned mind skills, others were developing decently. Sure, not all skills crossed level 30 but they would do so in a few years. Making them move in the next few months would be almost impossible.
If one of these skills even increases by a single level, then I would be so happy but with their present skill levels, it's almost impossible, even if I train in Nexus. Moreover, they are supplementary skills. I shouldn't invest too much time or resources on them.
Maybe I should learn a few new skills. New skills do grow faster now as I started to understand how to prepare for my training and also there is Nexus, which would help a lot in that endeavour.
No, the ones I have are more than enough. Unless they are some unique skills, I shouldn't learn new skills. It's just a waste of money and time.
I need to buy them first and then train, which would cost me money in both scenarios and time for training.
If one thinks that training would just cost time, then they were wrong on so many levels.
Training skills would bleed one dry more than they had spent on buying them in the first place.

For example to practice Sword Skills, one would need a sword and a cheap sword would net them nothing in the training scenario. When the skill was still Level 1, maybe there would be movement but as the skill progressed, using only cheap swords would be wasteful.
Moreover, one would need a target to practice on and that means the dummies. These dummies would cost a lot or else they would fall after a few strikes, which would be a waste of resources.
As I said, skills would cost a lot directly and indirectly.
With so many Class Skills in my possession, there is no need to get other skills other than some Unique ones.
