Chapter 82
Chapter 82
Nie Yinzhi had been transported by her father using a magic array in an emergency, and this once again shattered her understanding of the world.
Since childhood, she had worn a blood-red amber pendant the size of a fingernail around her neck. Due to her parents' warnings, she had never taken it off, even in situations where it was necessary—she would always carry it with her.
It turned out that this pendant contained a teleportation array and could also monitor her vampire bloodline. That was why her parents had learned about her condition so quickly and, without hesitation, sent her to the old family estate, fearing she might end up in a hospital and be dissected.
After Nie Yinzhi's condition stabilized, she sent her location to her agent via WeChat, asking for a car to pick her up.
Sister Liu replied promptly: "I'll arrange for Xiao Hua and the driver to come right away. Are you done with your family matters back home? How's your health? When you return, let's take you to the hospital for a check-up."
Nie Yinzhi made up an excuse to brush it off.
The old estate in the mountains had poor signal, and Nie Yinzhi had to climb onto the roof to get even a single bar. By the time she remembered to contact her agent, two days had already passed. Fortunately, her mother had called Sister Liu earlier.
Even in summer, the mountain mornings were refreshingly cool, with a thin mist hanging in the air. The old estate was a sprawling four-courtyard mansion surrounded by dense forests, nestled against the mountains and water, secluded and hidden. The dark brown roof tiles were covered in moss, making them slippery and difficult to walk on.
Yet Nie Yinzhi moved across them with ease, her body as light as if she were suspended by invisible wires. She leaped from one rooftop to another, and in her excitement, she accidentally teleported to the mountains behind the estate, startling a flock of birds.
Drenched in dew, she returned to the mansion and finally settled down.
Her parents were deeply concerned about her condition and wanted her to postpone her work commitments. While other jobs might have some room for negotiation, filming schedules were set in stone. The start date of a shoot was often chosen as an auspicious day and couldn't be changed just for her.
Because of this incident, Nie Yinzhi's short vacation was effectively ruined. After returning, she shot a magazine cover and then hurried off to Hengdian.
Nie Yinzhi had her makeup done early in the morning and took her costume photos. Then, at the opening ceremony, she stood amidst the thick smoke of burning incense, the scorching sun hanging overhead. The actors and crew members gathered together, each holding three sticks of incense. The heavy scent of the incense made her sneeze uncontrollably.
"What's wrong? Do you have a cold?" the producer asked, sweating profusely, his voice filled with concern.
Nie Yinzhi quickly waved her hand. "No, I'm just choking on the smoke."
The producer fanned the smoke away for her and pulled her forward a bit. When she touched Nie Yinzhi's icy hand, she exclaimed in surprise, "You're so cool!" She then looked up at her. "What kind of body do you have? It's so enviable."
Nie Yinzhi tensed up. After her vampire bloodline awakened, her body temperature had become as cold as a vampire's. At first, she thought she had lost her heartbeat entirely, but lying in bed late at night, she could feel her heart beating extremely slowly—about once a minute.
While her heartbeat wasn't something easily noticed, her body temperature required deliberate effort to disguise. As a novice, she often forgot to maintain a human-like temperature, like just now.
Nie Yinzhi laughed and said, "I just had my assistant hold an ice pack on me for a while. It's so hot today." She then waved to her assistant outside the circle and had her bring a cartoon-themed ice pack for the producer.
As they were talking, Nie Yinzhi's nose twitched. Amid the choking smoke, she caught a whiff of an intoxicating scent. For a moment, she almost lost control, and her fangs nearly popped out.
She looked up and scanned the crowd, her gaze pinpointing the person standing in the distance with uncanny accuracy.
After becoming a vampire, her vision had become exceptionally sharp, almost like a camera's zoom lens. She could see the smallest details from far away.
When Nie Yinzhi looked over, Gu Jiang's expression shifted slightly. A vein throbbed on his temple, as if he were enduring some kind of pain.
When others noticed him, a crowd quickly gathered around him.
Nie Yinzhi averted her gaze and quietly rubbed her wrist.
Over the past few days, she had been searching for information about Gu Jiang online and found plenty of interesting tidbits and videos. She had already seen the viral clips of him falling asleep everywhere, as they often trended on social media with constant updates of his sleeping photos.
Gu Jiang was currently filming a historical drama in Hengdian Studios, and he must have come over during a break to visit.
The male lead partnering with Nie Yinzhi seemed quite familiar with Gu Jiang. As soon as the opening ceremony ended, he ran over to chat with him.
After the ceremony, the crew began preparing for the first shoot. Nie Yinzhi had wanted to take the opportunity to approach Gu Jiang, but she couldn't find him anywhere. She returned to the makeup room to touch up her makeup, but the thirst in her throat, which had started the moment she saw Gu Jiang, was impossible to suppress.
She was craving blood again.
Just as Nie Yinzhi was struggling, that tantalizing scent drew closer once more. She looked up and saw, through the mirror, the person Feng Hanying had brought in.
Her mind went blank. Her fangs pressed painfully against her lips, and saliva flooded her mouth. The thirst in her throat made her almost lose control and pounce on Gu Jiang right then and there.
Nie Yinzhi didn't notice when the others in the makeup room had left. Her gaze was fixed on Gu Jiang's neck, as if she could see the rushing blood beneath his thin skin.
"The sound of you swallowing is genuinely terrifying," Gu Jiang said, his Adam's apple bobbing as he spoke. "So, it was you that day."
Nie Yinzhi gulped again.
Gu ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Jiang continued, "So, you're the vampire descendant that the Gu clan once served?"
Hearing the word "vampire," Nie Yinzhi's feverish mind cooled slightly. "You know? That's great, saves me the trouble of explaining." Her fangs had already emerged, making her speech slurred, and she accidentally bit her own tongue.
Gu Jiang took a few steps closer and leaned down to examine her fangs. "I only found out after the golden thread entered my bloodstream." He raised his hand, revealing the contract mark on his wrist—a mark only visible to the two of them. "I've been tormented by this blood slave contract for three days now."
Nie Yinzhi was confused. "What do you mean?"
Gu Jiang studied her expression and realized she wasn't feigning ignorance. "When the blood slave contract was formed, I had to let you drink my blood. Otherwise, every hour, my blood vessels would ache intensely. That's the contract's constraint on the blood slave."
He pulled a wet wipe from the makeup table, carefully cleaned his fingers, and then extended one to her mouth. "Bite."
The food was being too proactive and cooperative. Nie Yinzhi felt like she was dreaming. She had thought it would take a lot of effort to get close to Gu Jiang.
Obediently, she opened her mouth and clamped down on his index finger.
Nie Yinzhi had no experience with drinking blood. It was Gu Jiang who pinched her jaw, pressed the tip of his finger against her fang to break the skin, and then moved it to her soft tongue.
The sweet taste of blood flooded her senses, sending her into ecstasy. Her eyes took on a crimson hue, and she squinted, clutching his wrist with both hands, sucking and licking his finger greedily.
She had no idea how to control her strength.
Gu Jiang frowned as her fangs left several cuts on his knuckle, and his finger was being sucked and licked by her soft lips and tongue.
The pain throughout his body subsided as the vampire's saliva seeped into his wounds. He finally let out a relieved sigh.
Nie Yinzhi's mouth was cool, but his fingertip began to grow warm. Gu Jiang tried to push her face away, but after several attempts, he couldn't free his hand.
Concerned about the lack of soundproofing in the makeshift makeup room, Gu Jiang leaned down and whispered sharply into her ear, "Nie Yinzhi! Are you trying to drain me dry?"
Nie Yinzhi jolted and snapped out of her trance. She took a step back, wide-eyed. "I'm sorry, I couldn't control myself."
Gu Jiang pulled his hand back. The tip of his finger was pale and wrinkled from her sucking, and his fingers were slick with her saliva. He shook his hand; the amount of blood she could draw from his finger was minimal. He had just been trying to scare her.
The vampire's saliva quickly healed the cuts on his finger. Gu Jiang took another wet wipe and cleaned his hand.
After drinking blood, the dryness in her throat was finally quenched. Nie Yinzhi's fangs retracted, a faint blush spreading across her pale cheeks. Her eyes were moist and slightly unfocused, as if she were intoxicated. She gazed longingly at the finger before her, licking her lips with lingering satisfaction.
Gu Jiang didn't seem to have any intention of resisting the blood slave contract that had been imposed on him out of nowhere. He said, "Let's exchange WeChat contacts. That way, I can reach out to you next time I'm in pain."
"Sure," Nie Yinzhi replied, her expression content and happy as she pulled out her phone and added him as a friend.
Before leaving, Gu Jiang glanced at her and said softly, "You might want to calm down a bit before calling anyone in."
Nie Yinzhi: "???" She turned to look at the mirror. The reflection showed her face still flushed, her eyes and lips glistening with moisture—an image that could easily be misinterpreted.
She pressed her cool hand against her cheek, then sat down in a chair. Unlocking her phone, she found herself still on the WeChat page, staring at the newly added contact.
Before this, Nie Yinzhi and Gu Jiang had only crossed paths briefly, at a Star Awards event where their seats were far apart. Their social circles had no overlap, and aside from the usual polite greetings in group settings, they had never really spoken.
He was indeed as the rumors described—a gentle, easygoing person with a good temper. He had accepted her identity as a vampire so readily, even agreeing to become her blood slave and let her drink his blood.
Is this person too nice? A pushover, perhaps?
Nie Yinzhi thought for a moment, then added a note to Gu Jiang's WeChat name: "All-You-Can-Eat Buffet," accompanied by a bowl emoji.
