Chapter 104: The Pact Sealed
Chapter 104: The Pact Sealed
Klaus stood motionless in the void, the darkness around him pulsating with an eerie rhythm. His once-blue eyes now gleamed a deep crimson, glowing with the power of the memories that had flooded back into his consciousness. The transformation was complete. His mind, once fragmented, was now whole, and the weight of his past settled into his new form like a long-lost cloak.
In the stillness of the void, Gluttony towered before him, his immense wings draped in shadow, his expression unreadable. The dark being’s eyes, black as the abyss surrounding them, flickered with something between curiosity and caution.
[Have you regained all your memories?] Gluttony’s voice broke the silence, reverberating through the emptiness. There was no urgency in his tone, just a quiet, probing interest.
Klaus’s lips curled into a faint, knowing smile. "The runes set by Greed were indeed formidable," he replied, his voice now carrying a weight and depth that was absent before. "They not only injured my soul but also shattered the seal you had placed on it. Quite a crafty trap, but it served me well in the end."
Gluttony remained silent for a moment, his gaze unyielding. Then, with a slight tilt of his head, he asked, "Why are you here, Gluttony?" Klaus’s tone was sharp, a knife cutting through the void. The question hung in the air, demanding an answer.
[I came because I didn’t want you to die,] Gluttony said, his voice carrying an undertone of something unspoken. [But I see now, I needn’t have worried. It appears my intervention was unnecessary.]
Klaus’s expression hardened. The smirk disappeared, replaced by a serious, commanding presence. "Don’t forget our promise, Gluttony," he warned, his voice low and dangerous. "Do not show yourself again until this body of mine is ready."
A tense silence followed. Then, the corners of Klaus’s mouth twisted into a menacing smile. "Now," he continued, his tone casual, almost playful, "how is our plan proceeding?"
Gluttony shifted slightly, the shadows around him deepening. There was a flicker of respect in his dark eyes as he replied, [Just as you expected, €&&&@.]The name that followed was swallowed by the void, as though reality itself refused to allow it to be spoken. Klaus frowned, his sharp mind immediately recognizing the interference.
"The Law of Causality," he murmured, his eyes narrowing. "It’s still in place." The ancient rule, an unbreakable bond between the seven Arkdieux, prevented any of them from revealing certain truths without the unanimous consent of the others. It was both a safeguard and a chain, one that Klaus had not managed to break—yet.
Gluttony’s gaze drifted to the runes that still danced across Klaus’s skin, their light pulsating softly. [Shall I help you with that?] he offered, his tone flat, as though the runes were a minor inconvenience.
Klaus shook his head, a faint smile playing on his lips. "No, I think they could be useful for this body." With deliberate slowness, he extended his hand, watching as the runes gathered into his palm, coalescing into a small, glowing orb of pure energy.
As he studied the runes, Klaus’s smile grew colder. "You overlooked something," he said, his voice tinged with amusement.
Gluttony’s eyes flickered with a hint of curiosity. [What did I overlook?] he asked, his tone betraying nothing.
Klaus’s gaze shifted to the ring on his finger, the ancient band that symbolized his bond with Greed. "He seems quite attached to this new body of mine," Klaus mused, his eyes narrowing as he felt the faint pulse of Greed’s presence within the ring.
Gluttony’s response was immediate, his tone laced with disdain. [What can he do? He’s merely a fragment of his former self.]
Klaus’s smile widened, a predatory gleam in his crimson eyes. "Two fragments now," he corrected, his voice carrying an edge of triumph. The runes in his palm pulsed in response, their light growing brighter, more intense.
Gluttony’s expression remained impassive, though there was a subtle shift in his posture, an almost imperceptible tension. [It changes nothing,] he said dismissively. His gaze drifted to the void beyond Klaus, sensing a disturbance.
[Pride seems to be close by,] Gluttony noted, his voice carrying a hint of concern.
Klaus waved a hand dismissively, laughing softly. "Don’t worry about him," he said, his tone light. "He has more pressing matters to attend to." His laughter echoed through the void, a sound that was both chilling and strangely comforting.
Then, without warning, Klaus’s expression grew serious. His gaze locked onto Gluttony’s, the playful air gone in an instant. "Erase our encounter and reseal all my memories," he ordered, his voice brooking no argument. "Just like before."
For a moment, Gluttony hesitated, his dark eyes studying Klaus as though searching for something. Then, without a word, he extended his hand, his fingers brushing against Klaus’s forehead. [The seal won’t be as strong as the last one,] Gluttony warned, his voice low. [Your soul is quite damaged.]
Klaus nodded, his eyes half-lidded as he prepared for the darkness to consume him once more. "It’s fine," he murmured. "Do it."
Gluttony’s power surged forward, a wave of energy that enveloped Klaus, pulling him back into the depths of oblivion. The runes on his skin flickered, their light dimming as they were drawn back into the recesses of his soul.
As Klaus’s memories began to fade, his consciousness slipping away, one final thought lingered in the dark corners of his mind: the knowledge that when he awakened again, the world would be vastly different, and so would he.
The last thing he saw before the darkness took him was Gluttony’s cold, unreadable gaze, and the faint, almost imperceptible smile that played on the dark being’s lips as the void closed in around them both.

The scene shifted to the silent room where Klaus’s body lay motionless. His breathing was steady, but a thin layer of sweat covered his forehead, evidence of the mental and spiritual ordeal he had just undergone. The ring on his finger pulsed once, then fell silent, its power dormant once more.
Outside the window, the first rays of dawn began to break through the night, casting a pale light on Klaus’s face. It was a new day, and with it came the promise of new challenges, new battles, and a future that was now more uncertain than ever.
And so, as the first light of day washed over him, Klaus slept on, unaware of the storm that was brewing within him—a storm that would one day break, unleashing the full fury of his power upon the world...
