Chapter 750 Hero Versus The System Of Cannon Fodders [Part 1]
Thirteen had no regrets doing what he had done. However, he felt his heart stir when he saw Erica crying so sadly as if her heart was broken into pieces.
Before his ever-calculative mind could find the most optimum solution to solve this problem, his body moved on its own.
When he regained his senses, he had already pulled Erica close to him and was patting her head.
The words that escaped his lips didn't really belong to him.
It came from one of his Hosts who had given advice to one of his friends that got their heart broken due to love.
Sherry's eyes also turned moist, so she moved behind Erica and hugged her from the back.
Her gaze held Thirteen's gaze, and the latter only shook his head as if telling that there was nothing they could do at the moment. Sherry understood, so she simply hugged Erica and didn't say anything.
Nearly half an hour later, the Sorceress fell asleep due to exhaustion from crying.
Thirteen took her to the bed and covered her with a blanket.
"Stay with her tonight, Sherry," Thirteen said as he took a red jacket from his Dimensional Storage and wore it.
"You're leaving?" Sherry asked.
"Yes," Thirteen replied. "There is one place I need to go to."
Without another word, Thirteen went to the garage and put on a helmet.
He had brought a motorbike a few days ago, but he hadn't used it yet.
Although this was his first time driving a motorbike in his life, that didn't mean he couldn't do it.
A minute later, he sped into the night with a certain destination in mind.
Half an hour later, he reached his destination. The sound of waves rolling over the beach reached his ears.
He parked his bike and walked across the sand, not even putting any effort to mask the sound of his footsteps.
"Don't tell me you came here because you couldn't sleep?" Thirteen asked the young man, who was staring at the moon in the sky.
"Zion, I'm not in the mood to play with you right now," Roland said, his voice hoarse. "Leave me alone before I vent my frustration on you."
"Vent your frustrations on me? Can you even do that?" Thirteen asked in contempt. "The last time we sparred, I wiped the floor with your face."
A cold breeze flew past the two teenagers, ruffling Roland's shirt in the process.
"Were you involved?" Roland asked, not even turning around to look at the teenage boy who suddenly appeared out of nowhere while he was trying to deal with the pain in his heart.
He didn't really think that Zion was involved in what happened during the special event.
That question just popped randomly, but he didn't expect that the teenage boy would reply to his question.
"Yup, I was the one who did it," Thirteen replied in a teasing tone. "How does it feel to be betrayed by your best friend? It was worth it to go through all that trouble to see that expression of betrayal in both of your faces."
Roland's body shuddered after hearing the teenage boy's words.
A moment later, he finally turned around to look at the teenage boy.
With a raise of his hand, a sword appeared and hovered around his body like a satellite, waiting for a command to strike.
"Are you speaking the truth?" Roland asked hoarsely, his eyes bloodshot and his aura surging with the intention to kill.
"Yeah," Thirteen answered. "Actually, Erica also realized that I was the mastermind of it all. She felt so bad for you that she broke down and cried. Did you know? Erica really likes you. I'm sure you also know what she feels about you.
"Are you perhaps planning to use her as a backup just in case Shana turns you down? However, I'm sure she will still be happy to be used as a replacement for the girl you truly like.
"Such a pitiful girl. Strong in mind and body, with her only weakness being her heart. I'm sure you feel happy that such a beautiful lady is pining for you all the time. "Hey, right now, she feels so heartbroken that if you were to propose to her, there is a high chance that you will succeed. How about it? Won't you consider making her your girlfriend instead of Shana?"
"Shut up, scum!" Roland was now truly incensed after hearing Thirteen's dagger-like words that hit the crux of the matter.
He knew that Erica liked him and was doing her best to catch his attention. However, recently, he felt that her feelings for him had cooled down, making him wonder what happened.
Now, things finally fell into place.
"You are the bane of my existence," Roland muttered.
"Damn right, I am," Thirteen replied. "I guess you're not as stupid as I thought you were."
The sound of rustling wind spread in the surroundings as Roland waved his hand, his sword slashing through the air and circling around his body.
A moment later, he pointed his finger at the teenage boy, who had not only messed with the person who liked him but also orchestrated for his best friend to betray him.
Roland was currently hurt and was looking for something or someone to vent his frustration on.
Earlier, he had already summoned his sword to cut the waves that were coming to the beach as if they were his enemies that needed to be destroyed.
But after some time, he felt that doing it was useless, so he stopped.
Now that a person whom he truly wanted to harm had appeared in front of him, he was no longer able to hold back the pain and anger he was feeling.
As he pointed his finger at Zion, all of his hate, grudge, sadness, and desperation all merged into one, filling his sword with a power that could strike down anything…
Even if it was the person whom he treated as his rival and monster in his heart.
As if screaming for Thirteen's blood, the sword hummed as it flew toward its target.
Thirteen didn't remain idle and raised his hand to summon a short sword from his dimensional storage.
Right now, it wasn't only Roland itching to find someone to vent their frustration.
Since Roland was now going for the kill, the System of Cannon Fodders decided to fight against the Hero, just like how his previous hosts had done before their glorious and wonderful lives came to an end.
