?Chapter 1887 We are free!
While Sylveris' leaders were discussing their possible way out, the Foxes, who had returned to Yrniel, were doing the same.
"I can't believe it."
One of the three Primordial Foxes, Aerion Dawnshade, spoke with a solemn look on his face.
These three were the true leaders of the Black Order and the Dawnshade House, hidden Primordials who continued to carry their house's responsibility.
"To think Middle-Level Worlds will be destroyed without anyone finding out how... This is ridiculous."
Lysander, another one of them, nodded.
"What do you think of the Faction's decision?"
Alzar, the third Primordial, questioned.
"What is there to think about? It is not like they have any other choice."
Aerion shrugged.
"But this puts us in a difficult spot."
Alzar spoke with a solemn look on his face, and at his words, the other two leaders' faces turned grim as well.
"I think it is time we put an end to this farce."
After a minute-long silence, Lysander spoke up.
The other two turned towards him, and he continued,
"This all started because our ancestors couldn't accept becoming part of a Lower-Level World and cursed us with generations of slavery because of their foolish actions.
Now, however, we have the chance to change it all."
Lysander looked at the two leaders and,
"Yrniel's leaders have been nothing but accepting towards us. No matter how much we say that they have been using us as a grindstone to strengthen their younger generation, the fact of the matter is,
They have always tried to be welcoming to us despite knowing we were traitors. They even let our people infiltrate the order so the people in Yrniel do not see us as outsiders.
They have done quite a lot for us, and all this while, we have been nothing but ungrateful.
Yes, it was partially because we were being threatened, but now that the threat is gone... It is time we come out clean and side with a world that has always accepted us, our
home, Yrniel."
The other two leaders nodded.
It was indeed time to put an end to this farce.
Lysander then turned towards another person in the room and questioned,
"What do you think, Faelara?"
Faelara was one of the best of her generation, someone who they all knew would one day become a Primordial. They wanted to know her opinion and involve her in their decision.
"The three of you know best. I would never go against your decision."
Faelara answered respectfully.
"That is not what we are asking, Faelara. I want to know your opinion. What would you have done if we didn't exist?"
"Please do not say such things, Lord Lysander. You three still need to lead us."
Faclara shook her head.
Then, she stared at the three leaders and,
"As to answer your question,
I would do the same thing.
What we need right now is a force that can protect our people and...
Someone has convinced me that Ymniel and its Progenitors are that force, a force that is
strong enough to protect us as long as we remain loyal to them."
"Someone convinced you, huh..."
Lysander smiled as he stared at the woman in front of him.
"I wonder who this someone is."
He teased, and a light smile appeared on Faelara's face.
"He is quite a bold one, I can tell you that."
"I do not doubt you. I have heard he has barged in here quite a lot of times."
"He has."
Faelara nodded.
"Why didn't you report it to me?"
"I knew you already knew."
"Always so perceptive, eh?"
Faelara just smiled.
"Are you sure Yrniel can protect us?"
Lysander questioned, his expression turning solemn again.
"I am."
Faelara nodded.
"What if something happens?"
"Then I will be proven wrong"
"Can you burden the responsibility of a wrong decision like this one?"
"..."
Faelara turned silent. She stared at Lysander and the others, who were looking at her with light smiles on their faces. Clearly, they were testing her.
Preparing her to become the next True Leader, just like them.
"Yrniel stood strong even when five Middle-Level Worlds were after its secret weapon. It has already proven its strength. If I had to choose, I would try my luck under the shade
of the tree that stood tall after the test of time"
"And what if Yrniel doesn't accept us?"
"That I can assure you it will."
Faelara nodded confidently, and Lysander grinned.
"You really trust that boy, don't you?"
Faclara just smiled.
"Quite different from that Emmett."
"Please do not mention that name. I was foolish back then."
"But to think you would kill your daughter's father with your own hand."
"I do not accept incompetence."
Faelara spoke, her eyes turning cold.
Lysander stared at the woman for a while, his grin didn't fade away.
"Alright then, we will go with what you suggest. I hope you are right about that boy and
weren't foolish this time."
"I am not. You can take my word for it."
Faelara smiled as she then bowed her head.
"I will take my leave then."
The leaders nodded, and Faelara activated her Law and returned to her room.
She lay comfortably on her bed and laughed out loud,
"It's funny how he tries to act like he is on my side every time Emmett is mentioned.
To think he still doesn't know that I know he was his son."
Faelara's eyes turned cold, and,
"He really thought I wouldn't notice if he planted a spy close to me, huh? As one would expect from a narrow-minded old fool."
The Fox chuckled, laughing as she recalled the time when she killed that man right in front of his father on the grounds of him being incompetent, and the only thing Lysander could do was clench his fists in anger, unable to protect his son despite being stronger
than the murderer.
Knock Knock
While Faelara was grinning about it, she heard a knock.
"Mother, it is me."
Vulpiana spoke, and a gentle smile appeared on Faelara's face.
"Come in."
The moment she said those words, the doors burst open, and Vulpiana jumped on top of
her mother on the bed.
"We are free!"
