Chapter 475 : 474: Aethara’s Transformation, Burden

Chapter 475 : 474: Aethara’s Transformation, Burden

The instant Aethara spoke with an emotionless voice, the environment changed and so did her body.

The vines that extended from her neck crawled to her head at an extremely fast speed, and crimson vines also extended out of head, and when the two crimson vines got close, they joined together and Aethara's head was dragged towards her headless body.

The moment Aethara's head was connected back to her body, her body trembled intensely, and then the vines on her body spread out and then they enlarged before wrapping themselves around Aethara, eventually a massive egg made out of crimson vines that was thrice the size of Corey was formed.

The ground trembled and visible specks of golden light appeared on the massive egg made out of crimson vines. Some of the specks of golden light went into the ground, and then the ground trembled more intensely, and then a change could be seen.

The ground erupted and blood-red flowers and deadly green thorns appeared from the ground. A dark green mist was emitted by these flowers and thorns, and this mist was extremely toxic because it contained the power of rot.

This change in the ground covered a radius of six hundred meters, and Corey found himself slightly shaken by what he was seeing.

A second passed, and then another, and when the third second passed, the sound of a heartbeat resounded across the air.

BADUM!

BADUM

BADUM

Each heartbeat caused the ground to tremble and the blood-red flowers and green thorns to sway in delight.

Exactly after ten heartbeats, the massive egg trembled and then the crimson vines slowly unfurled themselves, and Aethara was slowly revealed.

No longer was she wearing her armor-like gown that was mad out of silk and crimson vines. Instead, her body was naked, and only small patches of green covered her private parts.

Her pearly white legs and hands was revealed for all to see, and the rune tattoos that curled from her ankles all the way to the left side of her face added a sensual beauty to her already breathtaking figure.

However. Aethara's nakedness was not the main and notable difference in her appearance. On her back were two massive wings that were made out of crimson vines, and with each gentle and mesmerizing sway of her wings, the ground beneath and the skies above trembled ever so slightly.

On the wings made out of crimson vines were crimson eyes that stared at Corey with unfathomable rage.

Another difference to Aethara were her pure black sabers. They had grown longer and bigger, and the power emanating from each saber was soul chilling. Also, on Aethara's legs and arms were boots made from crimson vines and silk.

As Corey stared at Aethara's new figure, he was shaken by the power that he could feel from her. If his senses were not deceiving him, and he was sure that they were not, Aethara was three times stronger than she was before this… transformation.

Cough!

A cough resounded in his ears, and he quickly turned toward Selene.

He saw her stagger, and then she fell backwards. Without hesitation, Corey quickly moved and caught her before slowly lowering her to the ground.

As he did this, he looked at her injuries and her condition, and he frowned deeply with a solemn expression.

When he was watching the fight between Pamela and Raegar, the crimson vines had taken the opportunity to launch a sneak attack on him. Luckily for him, Selene noticed it and she quickly stood in front of Corey in order to use her body to shield him from the crimson vines.

Although she had tried to prevent the vines from piercing her vital organs, they were just too fast and numerous, and because of this, some of the vines had pierced her lungs.

Not only did the vines pierce her lungs, they also injected rot into her body, and the rot in her body was the main problem.

If not for the fact that she was a Mystic Being and her stats were better than average, she would have succumbed to her injuries, especially the rot in her.

However, aside from the injuries she sustained from blocking the crimson vines, the dark green mist that was radiating from the blood-red flowers and green thorns was making her condition worse.

In fact, the rot that was produced by the dark green mist was so powerful to the point that Corey was also affected by it.

Black blood was streaming down his eyes, nose, and ears. His veins were also clearly visible and they were black.

If not for his skill, Dream Healing, which was constantly active, and the Poison Infinity Crystal in his body which absorbing Aethara's power of rot and making sure his body was adapting to the power of rot at the fastest speed possible, he would be a corpse by now even though he was a Poison Warlock.

'I was careless.'

Corey thought with a tinge of anger in his pure white eyes as he placed his hands on Selene's chest and he started healing her at the fastest speed possible.

'If I did not let down my guard, and if I had kept my Eyes of Omniscience active, this wouldn't have happened… I would have been able to react to the sneak attack.'

Although Corey had this thought, a part of Corey knew that it was not entirely his fault.

How was he to know that despite cutting off Aethara's head, she'd still not die?

How was he to know that the crimson vines would be able to move even after he clearly cut off Aethara's head.

Heck, how was he to know that somebody could come back to life?

None of the decisions he took was wrong. He chose to cut off Aethara's head when it was clear that she was still alive even after Selene stabbed her in the neck.

He didnt choose to wait anf see if Aethara would survive or not. He chose to attack. He chose to kill Aethara with his own hands.

However, despite the correct decisions he made, he had still made the wrong decisions.

'I can't send her out of her domain, it's too large… She can't fight, and she can clearly not escape on her own.'

A contemplative light flashed in his eyes as he stared at Selene who was struggling to breathe with a pained expression.

'... She's a burden.'
