Chapter 798 Familiar Fragrance

Chapter 798 Familiar Fragrance

Damien was shifting left and right in his bed. He was closing his eyes tightly and was trying to get some sleep. However, sleep wasn't quite cooperating with him.

"Ughhhhhh!" he let out a throaty grumble and kicked the blanket away from his body. He then opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling that was decorated with paintings of colorful flowers and bees.

"I wanted to talk with Ariel before sleeping. But she's talking with her father," Damien sighed and thought to himself.

He wanted to ask Ariel about her conversation with Kenneth in detail. Both she and Kenneth looked dejected when they had regrouped during the day. He wanted to ask her if she was doing okay.

However, since he didn't get to talk with her, he was having a hard time falling asleep.

"Should I talk to Kenneth instead?" Damien contemplated it for a while. "But is it right to visit him now? What if he thinks that I am trying to boast?" He sighed again and turned to face the door. "We aren't that close of friends yet… He looked really devastated though. I wonder how he is doing now."

He suddenly sprung up from the bed, ready to head for Kenneth's room. "I'll check up on him once. He was there for me when I needed him. It wouldn't hurt to do the same for him."

Keeping that in mind, Damien put on his surcoat and walked out of his room. However, he stopped before even approaching Kenneth's door because he saw an immense aura of sadness seeping through the cracks of the door.

Damien couldn't bring himself to take a step closer to Kenneth's room. "I will only make him sadder," he thought and went back inside his room.

He thought of trying to go back to his sleep again. He was about to take off his clothes when he recalled his promise to Joyce.

"Right!" He gently slapped himself on his forehead and thought, "I will be busy during the day. So, I think I should visit the Hell realm now."

Without any further delay, Damien teleported to his mansion in the Hell realm.

Experience new tales on empire

The moment he reached his room, he saw something swooping in his direction. He ducked out of instinct. A loud crash on the wall made him turn his head and look behind. He saw a broken chair lying down near the wall.

And before he could turn his head again, he felt the warm and familiar embrace.

"Mother," he whispered and wrapped his mother in his arms. The moment he inhaled his mother's familiar fragrance, he realized how much he was missing his mother.

It was the same for Lilith as well. She immediately pulled Damien's ear and scolded him, "Damien! How could you just stay on Earth for so many days? And I heard that you visited the pandemonium yesterday. How could you simply leave without meeting your mother? Do you not care about this old woman anymore?"

Damien held his mother's wrist and said with a guilty smile on his face, "How could I not care about you, mother? I was just… caught up in a lot of things and I…"

"And you didn't have time for your mother," Lilith completed her son's sentence and then rolled her eyes at him.

Damien grinned and said in a low voice, "I'm really sorry, mother. It's not that I didn't have time for you. It's just that… Ugh! Never mind that." He pulled himself away from his mother's grip and then asked her, "Tell me, mother, how have you been? You didn't cry, did you?"

Lilith sneered and then went and sat down on the chair that was still intact. She folded her arms and then replied, "Why would I cry? I am not a baby."

However, the way she said that made Damien believe that she was definitely sulking around in his absence.

"Are you telling me the truth?" Damien went and sat down on the floor, close to his mother, and asked her.

Lilith simply ignored his question and asked instead, "First, tell me how you have been. Where you are staying on Earth? Did you meet Ariel? And what about Theodore?"

Damien took a deep breath in. He had a lot of things to share with his mother.

He looked up at his mother's curious face and began recounting his tale, "I've never been better. Yes, I met both Ariel and Prince Theodore. I met Ariel's mother as well as her cousins. Currently, I am staying in a Kingdom called Romania; Joyce's in-law's Kingdom. Ariel, her cousins and friend, and I are traveling around several Kingdoms."

"Oh!" Lilith approvingly nodded her head. She was having a hard time believing that story though. So, she asked, "Nice story, but last I heard, Ariel didn't like stepping out of her Palace. Now you are saying that you are Are you sure you aren't lying to me?"

She didn't want to sprinkle salt on her son's wounds, but curiosity got the better of her and she bluntly said, "Considering how you ignored Ariel for almost a decade, I doubt that you have even managed to talk with her once."

Damien scoffed in disbelief at how much his mother distrusted him. And he immediately skipped to the best part of the trip so far, "I didn't just talk with her, I even kissed her!"

Lilith's eyes widened as big and as round as saucepans. "You did what?"

Damien also widened his eyes when he realized what he had just said. He lowered his head with embarrassment and then mumbled shyly, "You heard me. I ki-kissed her."

Lilith narrowed her eyes thinking that it wasn't anything serious. "Kissed her hand?"

Damien lifted his head and gave a challenging look to his mother. And he asserted loud and clear, "I kissed her on her lips. I confessed to her. And I also said that I wanted to marry her; I said that to both Ariel and her father."

Lilith covered her mouth with her palm. Never in her dream had she expected her son to be this fast in expressing his feelings, and this forward with what he wanted.

"Wow! You really said that? To Theodore as well?" she asked in utter shock.

Damien gave a shy smile and nodded his head. "Yes." His smile further widened when he said, "And if I am not wrong, I have both of their approval."
