Chapter 1070: Picnic (33)
Chapter 1070: Picnic (33)
‘My emergency fund, damn it.’
My emergency fund… M-My holy power.
“Mr. Ki-Young?” Kim Hyun-Sung said.
“God of Sacrifice and Revival?” Chanelia said.
‘Shit, w-what do I do?’
My mind went blank.
‘I should have stopped it the moment he embarked on that quest by himself.’
Most of the holy power he was earning through his title as "God of Sunset" was being transferred to me automatically. To be exact, I was receiving 77.9% of his holy power.
When he claimed to be the God of Sacrifice and Revival’s subordinate, his holy power was naturally redirected to me. Of course, I could take all of it, but I had to leave 22.1% for his allowance.
I felt kind of bad because I was receiving a lot, but sending the holy power of the supporters who had faith in the God of Sunset to Kim Hyun-Sung was more efficient than receiving it myself.‘His share is just 22.1%, but…’
The God of Sunset was receiving an astounding amount of holy power. It was so vast that it was beyond my imagination. The story of the God of Sacrifice and Revival and the God of Sunset was legend itself, and it encompassed the entire continent, not just a single race or a region.
His followers were followers of Elune, Varian, Lauren, and the God of Sacrifice and Revival as well. Considering the fact that some of the followers celebrated the anniversary of the God of Sunset, it could be said that the entire continent was sending holy power to him.
Of course, the 22.1% that Kim Hyun-Sung was receiving was more than what the average gods were earning. He could hold group events in small areas, activate five or more Legendary dungeons, create new types of weak monsters, awaken old legends, and even transform the terrain of an entire region.
Obviously, it couldn’t be converted into gold, so we needed this emergency fund, as we had no idea when something was going to happen.
It was a secret weapon that I had allowed Kim Hyun-Sung to accumulate with the intention of transforming him into my own piggy bank. I-It was turning into ash in real-time and was scattering into nothingness.
‘I should’ve just taken all of it and handled it myself.’
22.1%?
Even 3% was a lot for allowance. How come I had allowed him to do as he pleased?
‘He doesn’t even know the concept of holy power to begin with.’
He had recently figured out how to send quests. I thought that Kim Hyun-Sung wouldn’t need it anyway, so I could accept him using his holy power to send out quests.
‘But he’s spending it on this?’
“...”
“Mr. Ki-Young, are you okay? You don’t look so good,” Kim Hyun-Sung said.
‘Do I look okay?’
“Are you feeling uncomfortable, God of Sacrifice and Revival?” Chanelia asked.
‘Damn it.’
“Could you tell me what the descent procedure was like?” I asked.
“Yes, of course. To be exact, I got into a contract with the God of Sunset,” she replied.
“Let me take a look at the contract,” I requested.
“Oh… sure,” she said.
‘You do have the contract, right?’
Had Kim Hyun-Sung realized that something was wrong? When I asked to see their contract, he became really nervous. However, I couldn’t even hide how upset I was, so he had to have realized that something bad had happened.
“Well, you see, Mr. Ki-Young… I can explain. Actually, there’s an energy that has a similar nature to mana—”
“Not another word,” I interrupted him.
“O-Okay.”
‘It could be a fraudulent contract.’
Kim Hyun-Sung had no idea how to write or read contracts. This wasn’t some ordinary incident. He had brought a god from another dimension into this world. Even if Kim Hyun-Sung were ignorant about contracts, Chanelia Hermes would never accept a verbal contract.
“Ah, of course, I’ll give it to you. The God of Sunset told me to write the contract myself… so please understand that there may be some entries that are a bit subjective,” Chanelia warned.
‘I knew it. I’m sure… she ripped him off.’
One thing I learned from Benigoa’s finance incident was that the gods weren’t really nice. In some cases, they were more vulgar and meaner than humans, so we needed to make the contract as clear as possible.
“As you can see, there aren’t any issues with the contract. Just in case it seems like I'm asking for too much, I asked for the minimum amount of holy power needed for me to maintain my body in this dimension…” Chanelia said.
‘She’s right.’
“He can also pay in installments,” Chanelia added.
‘Right.’
The contract stated that Kim Hyun-Sung had to pay a portion of his holy power over the next several hundred years.
“For the project he had requested… it seems a bit pricey, but please consider it as me taking pride in my work. Even if you don’t like it…” Chanelia added.
It was pretty pricey.
‘No, it’s really pricey.’
The amount of holy power was equivalent to two hundred and seventy-one years.
For two hundred and seventy-one years, Kim Hyun-Sung would have…
“Whoo…” I sighed.
However, I could tell that she was being generous, as it was going to be the final work that she would leave on this continent. It was a price that could probably diminish the pride she had in her craftsmanship.
It was such a large amount that I wanted to slap Kim Hyun-Sung right now, but considering the fact that he had summoned a god from another dimension to make such a request, it was actually a reasonable price.
I read the contract carefully, as I was afraid that there was a trap hidden somewhere in the clauses. I read it two, three, and four times, but I couldn't see any issues.
“So the rumors were true. You are really meticulous,” Chanelia commented.
‘Obviously… we can’t break the contract either.’
“I was just thinking how beneficial this contract was for us…” I said.
Kim Hyun-Sung smiled brightly upon hearing that the contract was a good one.
However, all I wanted to do was slap him across the face.
“Ah! I see!”
“...”
“I think I know which part you’re worried about, God of Sacrifice and Revival. But you don’t have to worry about it, as you’ll be satisfied with the result. I’m really grateful as well.
"I'm grateful at the fact that I can leave my final work on the continent where I was born. I hope you can trust the pride I have in my craftsmanship. I will never do my work half-heartedly,” Chanelia reassured me.
“Right…”
“Mr. Ki-Young, I think you can trust Miss Chanelia Hermes. She’ll make something perfect for you,” Kim Hyun-Sung chimed in.
‘Just be quiet.’
After glancing at Kim Hyun-Sung, I calmed down and looked closely at Chanelia Hermes. Strangely, her smell captivated me more than her looks. I had no idea what she smelled like; she smelled like old leather, but it wasn’t a bad smell. It actually put me in a good mood.
The petite and cute woman had short hair and was wearing a pair of large glasses. She was also wearing a belt and overalls that a leatherworker would wear, so it was obvious that she was doing some kind of leatherworking.
“Now that I think about it, I think I was being kind of rude. I didn’t even offer tea to our guest…” I said.
“What? N-No, it’s fine, God of Sacrifice and Revival,” Chanelia said.
“Would you like to have a cup of coffee?” I asked.
“I’ll gladly drink it!” Chanelia answered.
‘She does seem kind of energetic.’
She also looked a bit nervous, but…
‘At least she’s not hostile.’
It was probably just me, but she looked like she was trying to impress me. It was strange seeing her try her best not to offend me.
“The coffee smells nice,” Chanelia said.
“Now that I think about it, how come you didn’t settle down on our continent, Miss Chanelia?” I asked.
“Ahh, you're curious about that? It’s a long story. Actually, I was qualified to move up… but there weren’t any job openings on this continent, so I decided to settle on another dimension temporarily, but… I ended up changing jobs…” Chanelia answered.
“I see.”
“Production workers are treated poorly here… and I didn’t have any epic stories or legends. The continent did not really consider me as a desirable talent to hold onto,” Chanelia added.
“Ah…”
“In fact, it’s pretty common to wander around before getting demoted, but I got lucky. I was able to settle down at a nice place,” Chanelia said.
“I see.”
‘Did you want to come back here? Did you want to get recruited?’
“There was a time when I felt sad, but I’m satisfied now…” Chanelia added.
‘I guess not.’
She took a sip of her coffee before asking, “Now, can you tell me the details of your request? I’m grateful that you’re interested in my collection… I would like to hear your personal opinion about what kind of item you want me to make."
‘Was she being friendly because I had her collection?’
There was a price for everything. I really didn't want to be suspicious of her, but…
“I’ll say it again and put my name on the line… The item is going to be…”
I really didn’t want to be suspicious of her for no reason, but I still had to ask.
“What do you want?” I asked.
“What? What do you mean…” Chanelia asked.
“Don’t be like that,” I said.
“What? I really don’t know what you’re talking about…” she said.
'Yeah, yeah, I know. Hyun-Sung brought you here and asked you to make something. It’s true that we’re using you and not the other way around, but it’s kind of strange.'
‘It’s also kind of interesting how she’s calling us the God of Sacrifice and Revival and the God of Sunset.’
Our continent had become famous long ago, and it was all because we were the first ones to demand independence. I wasn’t certain, but I felt like my name and Kim Hyun-Sung’s name was spreading like wildfire.
I assumed that was why Chanelia Hermes was friendly toward us.
It seemed like our achievements were well-known up there as well.
I didn’t want to say that it was strange to have access to some of the information up there, and I found it hilarious that I was being nitpicky over a single contract. Actually, nitpicking the contract seemed meaningless, but…
‘Who told her that I was meticulous?’
'Who told her that? Did you tell her, Hyun-Sung? Did you tell her to be careful writing the contract because I was meticulous? Did you also tell her that I was collecting all of her bags?'
“You can be honest with me, then I’ll try to consider it as positively as possible,” I told her.
I ought to dig through Hyun-Sung’s brain, just in case.
With that in mind, a clear image popped up in my head.
‘Mr. Ki-Young has your entire collection, Miss Chanelia. He’s very detailed and meticulous, so please create an item with ornate details.’
He told her.
“...”
“...”
He actually told her.
“...”
“...”
He told her everything.
“...”
“...”
'Damn it, I’m embarrassed.'
“...”
'Should I just laugh it off and say it was a joke?'
“...”
“?”
That was when I heard Chanelia's solemn voice. “Whoo… looks like I have no choice.”
“???”
“Please…” Chanelia said.
“Yes?”
“God of Sacrifice and Revival, please help… my dimension as well,” she requested.
