?

Sheer numbers allowed us to overcome this battle, the potency of the attacks unleashed from range and from up close ensuring that the giant ape was eventually felled just like the tiger, the two corpses resting side by side together as we were finally granted peace.

The geode had been the key for our success, since the moment it cracked the ape lost a significant portion of its power, all of the mana within exploding out and leaving the geode devoid of anything that would give the ape the juice it needed to do anything.

When it lost the surplus of mana that was empowering it the ape just crumbled, acting like a puppet that had just had its strings cut, which made it abundantly easy for the melee fighters to swoop in and remove its head from its body.

Anticlimactic and not what any of us really wanted from a fight, but after the desert we were tired and seeking rest so that we could actually experience the Labyrinthian without being placed in such an extreme position.

"Is everyone good?"

Lady Fenyras looked back and studied those of us that hadn't been up close and personal before nodding to herself as she returned her gaze to the two dead monsters, studying them and appreciating the kill.

Now that we had a moment of peace, I made sure to get that incense urn held high and make the herb inside burn at just the right amount so that we could continue to be at peace, with the others all clustering around the carriage afterwards as we decided what to do.

The sudden shift from an abundance of adrenaline keeping me up to having nothing happening just meant that I was due for a crash, and before it could squash me down into an immovable mess I took another few sips of a stamina potion to keep myself in fighting shape.

"Like I asked Kat before, what does tiger taste like..?"

Now that things had calmed down and there were no more roars directed at us, we were lowering our guard just a little as we huddled closer together and looked over the two corpses, though it would seem that all the marching today had already worked up a hunger in the younger Demoness.

Mom chuckled and draped her arm around Jahi's shoulders as she asked "Already famished, huh? Well, can't blame you; that carriage isn't exactly light, and the past hour has been quite stressful.", while Lady Fenyras nodded and poked the tiger with her sword, examining its flesh.

"There are three primary sources of meat available en masse; all members of the pig family, the cow family, and the chicken family in particular. What you come to learn is that pig and cow monsters will always have a similar texture and taste to their more lovable cousins, but everything else in the world is just a different kind of chicken. All land based monsters that aren't related to pigs and cows always taste like and feel like chicken to some degree." Lilith laid that out for us before grinning as she added "And it's a good thing too because I quite like chicken. Versatile meat that can be seasoned in so many ways, juicy enough to be eaten on its own but amazing enough to go on almost anything...", showing us another side of her that we hadn't seen yet since it was becoming clear she was quite in love with food.

To be fair, it seemed that all Demons were far more in touch with and willing to showcase their acceptance of their base desires since both Jahi and Mom were grinning as well, their focus on the tiger becoming honed to a sharp point that was almost enough to cut into the monster's carcass.

When Lady Fenyras was about to plunge her blade into the tiger to begin carving it up Anput and I both lunged forwards to grab her arm, pulling back on it to stop her from ruining a perfectly good pelt.

"Stop! That's a nice fur for armor you'd be wasting! And that's not even a good place to start cutting!"

She growled only to then look back at me and pause, and for a moment I met her gaze only to snarl when she said "Ah, I guess you'd know best, wouldn't you?", the way she looked down at me angering me just a little as I only had to wonder for a brief second what she meant by that.

"What? Are you not a cook? We can argue about how I think your calling in life was entirely to be a caretaker and mother and nothing more but that doesn't change the fact that you are, at the end of the day, a talented cook. Unless I am wrong about that?"

Her way of stating that so straightforwardly was still grating, but I just glared at her and waited for her to lower her arm, though she just kept it there like it was a challenge; when I let go and brushed past her she just grinned and said "So get to work then.", earning another glare from me.

"Fenyras..."

The slightly sweet voice of Lilith gave the Demon Wolf pause, but her arrogance alongside her uncaring attitude didn't allow her to care about the potential backlash she was facing from the other woman in our group who was stronger than her.

I got to work and listened to the sound of her getting cuffed while the Demoness 'argued' with her about what she had said, but even though I was tuning it out I could tell that the Demon Wolf didn't really care either way and was just relishing this opportunity to stretch her muscles as she ran away from all the magic being slung at her.

The sun was slowly descending down towards the horizon for our first real day inside of the Labyrinthian, but it only felt different from the outside world when the monsters were around us; otherwise it just felt like someone strung together a bunch of biomes for us to explore.

It was definitely more exhausting then the outside world though, even more so when I realized there was no fun time to be had when the sun fell completely, though that brought out the question of how I would manage to keep myself under control...
