My Accidental Husband is a Billionaire?

Chapter 837

Chapter 837

837  Chapter 836

The day Keira and Matthew left Clance, the weather was clear and bright.

Keira and Matthew got into one car, while Lewis and Erin climbed into another.

The two exchanged glances from a distance.

Keira squinted at the sunlight behind Lewis; it was almost blinding. She raised her hand to shield her eyes and finally caught a glimpse of his expression.

He was staring at her quietly, his face relaxed, a look of calm serenity.

Keira smiled faintly at him.

Lewis seemed momentarily surprised, then his usually cold expression softened. He waved at Keira, and both of them got into their respective cars. Their vehicles slowly pulled away, heading in opposite directions.

Keira wasn't sure why, but she felt the urge to glance back.

Lewis's car was moving farther away, but just as she turned, his window rolled down. He turned his head to look at her.

Keira smiled again and waved.

A slight pang of sadness tugged at her heart.

This was the first time they were parting ways since they had come to Clance and reconciled. Before this, he'd put his work aside to be by her side every day, almost like a chauffeur. They were constantly together, and now, this sudden separation felt almost unfamiliar.

She was also realizing that this was the first time she had shown such a lively side of herself in front of him.

Lewis smiled at the thought.

Both cars rolled up their windows, continuing on their separate paths.

Keira's smile lingered.

Matthew glanced at her and couldn't help but comment, "You look like you're about to start floating away with that smile."

Keira shot him a look.

She used to think that Matthew was interested in her, but after learning that he had feelings for Erin, things between them became much more comfortable.

Keira rolled her eyes. "You wouldn't understand, single dog."

Matthew laughed. "I'm a single dog, but do you think being the South family's son-in-law is all that easy?"

Keira raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

"If you marry him and can't have kids after three years, the South family will make you find a new man."

Keira froze. "What?!"

She frowned. "Don't joke around like that!"

Matthew said slowly, "Look at me. Do I look like I'm joking? The South family would do that. Do you know why your sister insists on having a child? It's because the South family's heirs are dwindling. Among the next generation, you're the only one with a child. That's your advantage in the inheritance battle."

Keira was speechless.

It felt almost like she was fighting for the throne.

Having a child as a bargaining chip?

Matthew lowered his eyes. "Don't think I'm scaring you. Why do you think the women in the South family are all desperate for freedom? Why do you think your mom left the South family and never went back? It's because once you go back, you become nothing but a breeding tool. Do you know why the successful heirs can come and go as they please, but the ones who fail have to stay in the South family? Do you know what they're doing there?"

Keira's pupils shrank. "You mean...?"

"Exactly. They're having children. That's why your mom ran away. She has a rare fertility condition, and the South family wanted her to keep having kids to carry on their bloodline. You and your sister weren't enough; they'd want more. The South family will stop at nothing to continue their legacy."

Keira's expression darkened. "So the women of the South family run the household, but they're treated like breeding machines?"

Matthew looked ahead, his tone heavy. "The South family's bloodline can't be broken. It's the fate of every South family member."

Keira clenched her fists. "There's nothing that can't be broken. Think about it. In feudal dynasties, which one didn't fall eventually? The South family has lasted over a thousand years. That's impressive enough."

Matthew shook his head again and sighed. "You still don't get it. Come with me to the South family. You'll finally understand what they're really like."

Keira furrowed her brow.

After a moment, she nodded.

The car soon arrived at the dock, and Keira and Matthew got out, boarding a cruise ship.

Meanwhile, Lewis and Erin were already boarding a plane to Country F.

The South family's location is a closely guarded secret, and no one can pinpoint it.

After entering their rooms aboard the cruise, the ship slowly began to move.

There were thousands of people on the cruise, so the sudden disappearance of two Creran nationals wouldn't cause much of a stir. Besides, Keira and Matthew had instructed the staff not to disturb them for the week.

Keira, after freshening up, went out and made her way to the deck, where she had arranged to meet Matthew.

Matthew looked at her. "You didn't bring any electronics, did you? Don't even think about sneaking them on board. You won't be able to."

Keira nodded. "I know."

Time passed. It felt like hours, or maybe longer. When the ship ventured deep into the dark sea, a faint light appeared in the distance.

Keira was wondering what it was when Matthew spoke.

"The South family is here to pick us up."
