MY 10,000× DIMENSIONAL SYSTEM

Chapter 124 Setting Things Up

Chapter 124 Setting Things Up

Setting Things Up

Christopher stared down at the army, his mind spinning as he had already formed up a fairly sound plan.

Since there were ten thousand soldiers, he would split them into ten battalions, each containing a thousand soldiers, stationed in fortresses he created using his Dimensional Genesis, which he would allow to descend with Dimensional Authority.

The fortresses would act as both strongholds and rally points. As the soldiers would have two primary objectives, claim land to be assimilated into the Primordial Expanse and acquire rare materials that could be found in the hidden realm.

Each fortress would be outfitted with portals, which would allow for rapid transportation between them for troops, supplies, and so on.

Other than that, Eidrasil had created miniature versions of herself, small world trees that would be planted at the cores of each fortress. The trees, brimming with unmatched vitality, would allow the fortresses to be encased in a shield of life force that healed all who dwelled within.

Moreover, the members of Aisha's sect would assist each fortress, further bolstering them and their abilities by providing crucial support and guidance to troops who were stationed there.

As for Christopher himself, he would operate independently. He was confident enough to move on his own and not get killed, at least. Moreover, since each fortress was essentially an extension of his will, besides being capable of autonomy and defending themselves, they could also alert him in case something really bad was happening and he would assist whichever fortress required help.

Everything was accounted for... well, almost everything.

'What do I do with them.' Christopher resisted the urge to scratch his head as he thought.

The only people not accounted for were the members of his cohort.

His initial plan was to send them to assist a fortress. Such a thing would practically guarantee the success of whatever fortress they were assigned to. The issue was that, well, each of them was broken, which was an issue.

'If I station them at the fortresses,' he thought, 'the soldier's hard work will all be for naught. They will pretty much be babied and eventually use them as crutches." He frowned.

"Then there's the alternative of taking them with me. But if I do that, the fortresses could face unnecessary losses or encounter very bad situations. Sure, I have my wills in place to alert me if something goes wrong, but what if a fortress gets one-shotted? After all, this place will have other Apex ranks and maybe even Sovereign-ranked entities." His gaze fell on his soldiers, all of them moving in a disciplined manner as they were being divided into different battalions based on their skills and abilities, allowing for equal power distribution.

This was their chance to showcase everything they had learned as well as tap into their potential. Their chance to prove themselves worthy of being a part of the Genesis Corps. But denying them that chance would leave a bitter taste in his mouth. But then again, having them die pointlessly wasn't any better.

'Master, you're overthrowing. As usual.' Aisha's voice suddenly sounded in his mind, her tone one of exasperation.

Christopher's eye twitched.

'Enlighten me.' He finally said.

'The army needs to face hardship to grow, but they also need to survive to see said growth. Those monstrosities in your cohort can lead a battalion, yes, but that doesn't mean they need to do everything in their power to make sure the soldiers don't fight, and they also don't need to stay in the fortresses all the time. They can move with you if you want. Again, you're the one who made us learn how to create clones because of how convenient they were. Let them just act as reinforcements where they are the most needed, but also have them keep the soldiers accountable for their own progress.' When she finished, Christopher blinked.

That... made a lot of sense.

'What do you guys think?' Christopher asked Norn and Scarlet.

'It's viable. The soldiers can still fight and grow, and others can make sure they don't die without interfering too much while being able to meet up with you and satisfy their desires to fight as well.' Norn said softly.

'Indeed. Everything can be accounted for if we do it that way.' Scarlet agreed.

'Alright then, it's settled. Aisha, relay the information to the others.' Christopher instructed.

'Understood Master... but if I may ask, what will you be doing?' She enquired with a curious tone, and Christopher just shrugged.

'Checking out this secret realm, of course. I need to find good spots to place the fortresses, and I also just want to see it myself.' Christopher said, and he snapped his fingers.

In a moment, his casual clothes morphed into the same attire that he had worn before. Jormungandr's Mantle had undergone several upgrades, but Christopher still chose to rock the same look of a simple shirt, pants, shoes, and a coat as well as fingerless gloves.

He then brought out his Mask of the Dreamer and stared at it for a moment. After the upgrades, the mask received several new abilities as well, though, there was one that caught his eye.

It was called [Faceless], which essentially made him completely invisible and separate from the tapestry of fate. And the crazy thing was that he could use it on the tapestry that existed within the Primordial Expanse as well.

When he used it in that way, everyone in the Dimension forgot that he existed. This was because it was through fate that they became connected to each other, so if his fate was no longer capable of being perceived, then it was as though he had never existed.

However, there was a glaring problem with that logic. If that was the case, then why did those entities that had gazed at him know he was there? And why was his fate up until the point of him attaining the Dimensional Veil able to be perceived?

He recalled the answer the system had given him when he raised this question.

[The Dimensional Veil functions as a wall between your Dimension and the wider multiverse and everything beyond it. It protects the Dimension and all within, hiding their threads of Fate from the outside world. However, it is not absolute. Powerful entities, like the ones that gazed at you, can still trace your existence based on prior interactions, even if they can't deduce your exact position. The Veil obscures, but it cannot wholly erase what was already woven.] It went silent for a moment, then it continued. Stay connected via empire

[On the other hand, the skill of your mask, Faceless, is unique to you. It doesn't merely obscure, it annihilated. It doesn't hide your fate, it makes it nonexistent. To those bound by fate, you become an impossibility, a being they can neither perceive nor comprehend. An anomaly. While the Veil protects your Dimension, Faceless severs you entirely, even from the remnants of your past.]

Christopher recalled the conversation with a sigh. The more he thought about it, the scarier he felt the ability was.

Thankfully, it was something he could control, otherwise, the thought of being forgotten by everyone and everything sounded terrifying on so many levels. After all, among the many fears of sentient beingss, the fear of loneliness and the fear of being forgotten were very prominent.

When Christopher tried it out the first time, he felt like his soul was getting crushed when his subordinates showed genuine confusion and even some aggression towards him, their eyes showing nothing but unfamiliarity, which hurt in ways he couldn't even begin to explain.

Thankfully, he could restrict just how potent he made this Ability, like he could with the other abilities the mask possessed. Otherwise, he wouldn't hesitate to destroy the mask.

However, there was another quite unprecedented thing.

Activating the skill, caused a visible dent in the reserves of energy the Primordial Expanse possessed, which was insane considering that the Primordial Expanse passively generated its own energy at an astonishing speed, not to mention just how dense the energy was. And with its size, it wasn't an exaggeration to call it endless. And yet, a single skill from a single item meant for a single person could cause a visible dent in the rivers of Mana and Void energy... that was just scary.

But then again, considering just how harrowing the skill was, it wasn't all that surprising.

Christopher sighed and put on the mask. Instantly, his entire figure seemed to blur and shimmer, one moment it seemed like he was there, and the moment it seemed like he wasn't.

Christopher hadn't activated any of the skills the mask possessed, this was simply its base effect that played with the perception and memory of anyone who looked at Christopher, making them question themselves on whether or not they had actually seen him. And when he was out of sight, they'd forget about him entirely.

Then he exhaled, and took a step. And when his foot landed, it wasn't on the beautiful wood of his wood, but it it was white snow.

Christopher felt the cold wind hit his body hard, though he didn't falter in the slightest, and he smiled behind his mask.

"Well then, let's get started, shall we?"
