MY 10,000× DIMENSIONAL SYSTEM

Chapter 115 Journey

Chapter 115 Journey

Journey

There was a plain of pure white.

This plain seemed to stretch on forever, and if one traversed it, they were liable to think that they hadn't moved from their initial spot as no matter how long one marched in any direction, the scenery never changed. The whiteness just continued.

Not only that, but frigid winds blew throughout the plain with terrifying force.

In the gentlest of areas, the winds could reach speeds of hundreds of miles per hour, and in the harsher parts, it surpassed sound with ease.

There was a sun high above. However, it provided no warmth in the white plain as the cold was so frigid that any ordinary item would be frozen over instantly. Instead, its light only reflected off the white snow and would be able to blind anyone who looked for too long if they didn't have the necessary supplies.

In short, it was a terrible place.

And yet the stillness of it was disturbed.

A group of around a hundred individual could be seen marching through the powerful winds stubbornly, their variety of foot sizes leaving deep prints in the snow, which generally didn't last long before they were covered again.

Most of the beings were humanoid, though there were some exceptions, mostly being the Centaurs that acted as scouts with their superior height that allowed them to see farther. Not that it mattered, considering that all they would see was white.

Each of them was equipped with equipment designed specifically to handle cold conditions. However, there was still the occasional shiver, which went to show just how harrowing the cold of the place truly was.

Besides that, though, in the centre of the group was a large icy blue reptilian creature with wings. A dragon.

Its body wasn't too big, but with how it was built, it was a male.

However, even the proud creature had a solemn look in its eyes, its body tense, and ready to react to any possible threat.

But why would that be? After all, the only thing they had to worry about was the environment. Right?

Well, that's what they had thought initially, and they had paid dearly for it.

No one uttered a word as they continued marching silently. It seemed unwise, considering it was just white in every direction, but they seemed to have a goal in mind, and they were determined to reach it.

At some point, though, the Dragon suddenly tensed, and he snorted.

"Blizzard." The single word caused everyone to pause.

In the front of the group, the leader, who had a small frame and their face, was obscured by goggles and a mask asked, their voice a bit muffled.

"How long until it hits?" The Dragon was silent for a moment.

"8 or 9 minutes." Hearing this, the leader nodded.

"Gather up!" They yelled, and everyone in the group wasted no time and immediately began to get closer to each other with the Dragon as the centre.

The dragon then huffed, and a large icy blue magic circle appeared beneath the group, and then a blue dome appeared above them. It was large enough to encompass the entire group and probably could be larger. But the current size was maintained.

"We'll make camp for bow, everyone.." The leader said again before taking off their mask.

Without the constant assault of the terrible winds, they could now remove their mask. And lo and behold, the person was Titus.

He had a tired look in his eyes, which was very different from the bright gaze he had when he last spoke to Christopher. But it wasn't odd considering everything he'd been doing.

After somehow being chosen by the Legend Sword, Veylthar, Titus decided that he was going to do everything he could to raise his strength and make himself worthy of the weapon.

As such, he joined the Dimension's army to be a part of the harsh training going on.

He was sure that he would be able to gain a lot in the process. And with his current ability, he'd be able to do a lot more things and have more opportunities, which was correct, as his strength allowed him to lead a company of 250 soldiers with different abilities and classes.

Some were ranged specialists, some were melee specialists, others had specialised classes, and there was the Dragon as well.

It was a sizeable force with decent power, and Titus was committed to getting as many of them to the end as possible while also using the whole thing as a training experience.

However, he had never expected the entire ordeal to be so treacherous.

For starters, the environment was simply too harrowing, whether it was the cold itself or the periodic blizzards, ice storms, and other wild weather conditions of this place. It was simply dreadful.

Still, ut was somewhat manageable, and Titus had been lucky as he managed to get an ice dragon in his company, which made dealing with the conditions a bit easier. Like right now.

However, it wasn't long before Titus realised that there were things far more terrifying in this place than the weather.

True to the Dragon's predictions, the sky had changed, and in around minutes, a terrible Blizzard had descended upon the white plain.

The Blizzard was truly dreadful as the cold it brought was so intense that even with their specialised gear, they would have only been able to survive for a few minutes. Granted, they had magic at their disposal, but they couldn't use it for too long.

Moreover, the Blizzard could strangely dampen one's senses, and so it made perceiving your surroundings with any of your senses and even your sixth sense a tall task. Plus, the Blizzard also had small shards of sharp ice flying through it at incredible speed. And individually, they weren't very threatening, but there were thousands.

Still, with a dragon on their side and their connection to the Dimension which allowed them to use incredible amounts of energy, they should have just been able to march through the Blizzard while protecting themselves with magic. Right?

Well, that's the thing. As long as they were in this place, they were only able to use their personal Mana reserves. As such, energy management was one of the biggest issues they faced.

As such, whenever there was a Blizzard, the Dragon who had the largest energy capacity would cast a barrier, and they would remain stationary to avoid any excess energy expenditure.

Still, that was only one of the biggest issues they faced.

Another issue lay with the Blizzard itself.

Again, if it was simply a strong natural deterrent, them they would be able to manage fairly okay. However, it wasn't.

Titus looked into the dark snow brought about by the Blizzard, which was slightly illuminated by the many light producing items that had been summoned by his soldiers within the barrier, with a dark expression.

There was nothing there. Or rather, there was nothing he could _see_

His company originally had 250 soldiers. But now, they were barely at a hundred. And sadly, it wasn't the cold that had gotten the other 150.

There was something sinister in the Blizzard, something that no one, not even himself or the Dragon could sense, and he got the feeling that if he did sense it, then it would already be too late.

They noticed, however, that the thing, whatever it was, had an aversion to light. So it was mandatory for anyone who could produce light to do so whenever a Blizzard was happening.

However, just that wasn't enough as the thing was smart enough to go after light sources. So that was the other purpose the Dragon's barrier served. It protected them from the Blizzard, and whatever dwelled within it.

"Sir Titus." Titus was snapped out of his thoughts as a voice entered his ears.

He looked up and saw one of the soldiers, a tall Oni woman who also happened to be his second in command was standing there holding two steaming bowls of food.

She sat next to him, and Titus took the bowl with a small smilehe nodded in thanks before eating. She ate with him, and they both ate in silence for a while.

"... We should be reaching the target soon." She spoke after a while, and Titus nodded silently.

"And hopefully, my siblings and the other commanders will be there as well." He said with a small sigh.

It was mentioned previously that the company had been marching forward with purpose, meaning they had a goal in mind. And they did.

At some point during this grueling conquest, they had seen a stone that had been erected with magic with engravings on it, and Titus recognised the writing to belong to that of his brother Han which basically said that they should head in a certain direction and there they can meet other companies and they would all gather together to end this harrowing mission.

'Heh. That's if everyone hasn't been taken out already.' He thought darkly and continued eating
