Mutant awakening: My evolution knows no bounds

Chapter 163 Silas VS Ozivox 2

Chapter 163 Silas VS Ozivox 2

Silas pressed on, his heart pounding. He closed the gap once more, his fist a blur as it collided with Ozivox's skull. The impact sent Ozivox staggering, his body struggling to stay upright.

Silas's fists stayed ready, his breath ragged.

When Silas summoned the clones, he wasn't expecting them to defeat Ozivox. No — they were merely bait. A smokescreen. While Ozivox was busy obliterating the copies, Silas activated Lightning Dash, his body surging forward in a flash of crackling energy. The gap between them vanished almost instantly.

Silas's eyes gleamed with a predatory focus. Now's my chance, he thought. His scythe materialized in his hand, the blade shimmering with a menacing glow. He fixed his gaze on Ozivox, who was still stumbling from the force of the Soul Jab and the flurry of punches. The once-arrogant mutant general's stance was unsteady, his confidence momentarily shattered.

Silas's grip tightened on his scythe, his knuckles white. He lunged forward, the wind tearing at his clothes. The air vibrated with intensity as he drew closer, his heart pounding like a war drum. When he was mere meters away, he unleashed a feral battle cry that echoed across the battlefield.

"AHHHHHHH!"

The scythe arced through the air with lightning speed, the blade singing a deadly song of vengeance. Just as it was about to connect, Ozivox's tiny hand shot out with unnatural precision. His fingers curled around the blade, halting it mid-swing.

"Too slow," Ozivox sneered, his voice dripping with contempt. Dark purple blood oozed from the gash in his palm, but his grip remained ironclad.

Silas's lips curled into a smirk, his eyes glinting with something far more dangerous than defiance — calculation.

"You're wrong," Silas replied calmly. "It all went exactly as planned."

Ozivox's brows furrowed, confusion flickering in his crimson eyes. His grip on the scythe tightened as more blood dripped to the ground, each drop hissing as it hit the dirt.

"You think this small cut is enough to pull me down?" Ozivox spat, his voice laced with venom.

Silas didn't dignify the question with an answer. Instead, he glanced at the shimmering holographic screen that had appeared before his eyes. The words glowed with an ethereal light:

A wicked grin spread across Silas's face. Without a word, he unsummoned his scythe. The weapon disintegrated into blue sparks, slipping through Ozivox's fingers like sand. Before the mutant general could react, Silas executed a flawless backflip, his body spinning through the air as he created a gap between them.

He landed lightly on his feet, the dirt beneath his boots scattering. Without hesitation, he turned and bolted, his legs propelling him forward with desperate speed.

Ozivox's eyes widened, a flicker of confusion flashing across his face. "Is he... running away?" he muttered, his voice edged with disbelief. But a moment later, his confusion melted into a sinister grin. "He won't get far. Wing Razor will roast him alive."

His gaze snapped toward his mutant pet, a monstrous avian creature perched ominously on a rocky outcrop. Its eyes, glowing like molten rubies, locked onto Silas's charging form.

Wing Razor's beak opened, and a low, guttural hum filled the air. Red light gathered in its mouth, coalescing into a brilliant beam of energy.

The air crackled with impending destruction.

ZAP!

The laser shot forward in a blinding streak of crimson fury, the heat distorting the air around it. Silas didn't slow down. His eyes stayed locked ahead, his mind razor-sharp with focus. As the beam tore toward him, he planted his foot hard into the ground and leapt high, the force of his jump propelling him skyward.

The laser scorched the earth beneath him, leaving a smoldering trench. While still airborne, Silas twisted his body into a backflip, his form silhouetted against the darkening sky. He descended swiftly, the wind whipping around him.

Wing Razor's eyes glowed brighter, its screech echoing like nails on glass. It tried to react, to move, to fight back. But Silas was faster.

THUD!

Silas landed squarely on Wing Razor's back, his boots digging into the creature's armored feathers. The beast shrieked in outrage, its wings flaring wildly as it bucked and thrashed beneath him.

Without hesitation, Silas slammed his palm against the back of Wing Razor's head.

---

An electric surge of energy shot through Silas's arm, spreading through his body like wildfire. His eyes widened as the connection formed — a bond ancient and powerful. Wing Razor's body convulsed beneath him, its screech rising to a deafening pitch. The sound pierced his ears, but he grit his teeth and held on.

The struggle lasted only a few agonizing seconds.

Then, suddenly, Wing Razor fell still. The tension in its muscles melted away. Its glowing eyes dimmed, the furious crimson softening into a docile amber. It lowered its wings, breathing heavily, as though accepting a new reality.

---

[Congratulations, you have turned the mutant into your pet.]

---

A notification flashed before Silas's eyes, but he dismissed it with a quick thought. His focus shifted to Ozivox, who stood a few meters away, his face twisted in pure disbelief.

Wing Razor remained calm beneath Silas, the once-deadly creature now as gentle as a shadow.

"No... why is Wing Razor just standing there?" Ozivox's voice trembled. "Why isn't it attacking?"

Silas straightened, his expression cold and triumphant. "You're probably wondering why it isn't trying to kill me." He paused, savoring the moment. "It's because it's mine now."

Ozivox's eyes went wide, the truth sinking in like a dagger to the heart.

"No wonder," he whispered, his voice hollow. "I felt the connection break the moment he touched my pet. How... how is this possible?"

Silas's grin widened, a predator who had just cornered his prey. "Because your power isn't as absolute as you thought."

The balance of the battle had shifted. And Silas knew it was far from over.
