?
The massive sword in Marshal Serbal's hand struck the ground with devastating force. BOOOOOOOM! Instantly, a circular crater with a fifty-meter diameter and over ten meters in depth appeared beneath it.
SWOOOSH! Caesar barely avoided the attack, leaping back several times until he reached a relatively safe distance. Wiping the thin trail of blood from the corner of his lips, his face noticeably pale, he muttered, "Damn that sword!" This wasn't the first time he had cursed the weapon since the battle began.
The sword, three meters long and nearly a meter wide, was monstrous. Its immense weight combined with Marshal Serbal's strength rendered it nearly impossible to counter. Even the Death Halberd, forged entirely from Uracelium and the pride of the True Beginning Empire's craftsmanship, couldn't withstand that weapon in direct combat!
Caesar cast a distant glance toward another part of the battlefield, where Richard was battling both Zanox and Lacross simultaneously. If Caesar could just acquire a small portion of the Fire of Life to forge those wings and alleviate the backlash of the Law of Death, he could obliterate Marshal Serbal within seconds. Then, he could join Richard in his fight.
But, "No!" Caesar refocused on his opponent. How could he call himself an elder brother if he couldn't handle a single opponent while Richard faced two? Even if Richard was drawing on the life force of millions of living beings, it was still his power to wield. Asking for help in this situation would only make Caesar despise himself.
Gripping his halberd tightly, he resolved, I must finish this quickly and go help him!
"You stubborn wretch... stubborn wretch! Why don't you just stand still and accept your fate already?" From within the storm of dust, the marshal took a few steps toward Caesar.
Step. CRRRR. Marshal Serbal emerged, dragging his colossal sword behind him in a terrifying display. With every step forward, the ground cracked and shattered beneath the weapon's weight. Hatred for Caesar oozed from his expression, yet the marshal's body bore no injuries or even bruises, as if he were merely engaging in a training exercise.
Still, there was something peculiar about him. Anyone familiar with Serbal would recognize that something was amiss. His face, once youthful, was now lined with wrinkles. Where he once looked to be in his thirties, he now seemed to be in his fifties. Even his stride was noticeably slower.
"What happened to you? You look like you've aged a few years. Our fight has dragged on, but not that much. Hahaha!" Caesar laughed mockingly.
This wasn't the first time he had seen such a reaction from opponents drained of their life force. A mix of dread and hatred paralyzed their thoughts.
"You... What kind of demonic techniques are you using? What is that black flame exactly?" Serbal raised his sword, pointing it at Caesar. The weapon, weighing a ton, seemed as light as a feather in his grip. "You... If you were in the middle planetary belt, you'd have been captured and dealt with as the vile creature you are!"
"Haha, there's nothing evil here; I'm merely using the heavenly laws, just like you!" Caesar laughed loudly again, his voice echoing in the tense air. He aimed to distract Serbal from noticing his deteriorating physical state while fueling the marshal's hatred toward him. "What's wrong? An ancient relic like you, who has lived for thousands of years, can't last half an hour against a young man like me, and now you're calling me the villain? That's pathetic."
"You...!!" Serbal clenched his fist tightly, his anger visibly boiling. "Today, I will kill you without fail. Today, I'll watch death devour you until the light fades from your eyes, and then I'll tear apart your corpse myself to vent my rage!"
"You watch to Death devour me? Haha... HAHAHAHA!" Caesar threw his head back and laughed maniacally. Then he spread his arms wide open, his voice thunderous. "I am death!" "AAAAAAARGH!" Overcome with Caesar's provocation, Serbal stomped the ground once again, shattering it behind him. He charged toward Caesar with all his might, raising his colossal sword with a single hand.
Inhale. Time seemed to freeze from Caesar's perspective. Ignoring the raging beast of a man barreling toward him, Caesar took a deep breath, preparing himself physically and mentally to invoke the Law of Deathfire once more. "Hooof- Come at me!" He raised his halberd and struck.
SW000000000SH!
Robin's eyes flew open wide. Now, with the knowledge that heavenly law restrictions could be removed for experts above the Cataclysm Realm, certain events from his past began to make much more sense. That day, the one where he was fated to die, the All-Seeing God had appeared out of nowhere.
That guy had stopped time and effortlessly reverted Robin's aged body back to his prime youth, he even made Caesar young again as a bonus. It was impossible to achieve such a feat with a few first stage laws!
"...And that's when that Truth Chosen emerged among you all, claiming that if the restrictions could be lifted for the Cataclysm Realm, then he would lift them for everyone from the very start!" Pythor spoke excitedly, his enthusiasm evident.
Robin's eyes sparkled. "Did he succeed?"
"Haha, what do you think? We wouldn't even be discussing the Fourth Cultivation Path if he hadn't succeeded!" Baithor laughed.
But his response plunged Robin into deeper thought. "But... the removal of restrictions at the Cataclysm Realm was due to the gravitational core. And even that core was built using a heavenly law. However, having no law at all in the energy convergence center seems... illogical."
"Oh, but there is a law. There's always a law there; we just never pay attention to it. Why not take your time and think it through?" Pythor teased, raising his eyebrows playfully.
"...." Robin furrowed his brows in concentration. Is a law always present in the energy gathering center? The center of... Energy? The Heavenly Law of Energy?!" Robin shouted in realization.
