Chapter 1088 Progress till the second day
Chapter 1088 Progress till the second day
[OP: ]
The setting up of the unique crystals all around the cave was complete now, though, they were not yet finished with the main equipment installation.
"What did you do wrong…?"
"I'm pretty sure I did nothing wrong. We have all the parts, they are fitting perfectly, and yet, why isn't this thing working?"
The three boys were looking at the big machine in the center of the cave, while the two ladies were playing with a certain slime.
"Hehe~. Isn't it cute~?"
Rein was happy to have a new friend. A slime at that.
"It reminds me of Bob so much… ughhh."
During her first ever class in the energy beast research class, their teacher sorted out a dispute that she had with Nova and the possessed future seer with the artificial creature battle.
They all summoned calamities and the calamities destroyed the other, simpler creatures that the children of the class had summoned.
Rein on the other hand, asked for a unique creature, something that possessed speciality: Mimic.
It was a creature that had many uses and abilities, but with the learning ability that it had, the rapid growth that it has as well as with the ability to evolve, the simple slime was able to evolve into a calamity that defeated not one but two calamities.
Though the time that Rein and that creature spent together was small, she had become attached to that artificial being.
She had been searching for a slime creature that matched the description that she had given and Eon was also doing the same, however, finding a unique being like that was nearly impossible in this vast world.
They weren't only talking about a creature that possessed a speciality, but also certain kinds of unique skills that no other being might ever possess.
Also, Rein had made the creature into what it became at the end so, a lot of what the creature became was thanks to her.
But still…
"Ooooog!"
"Hehe~. Hey~!"
Even though the creature that she coincidentally met back at their house, a slime that liked her especially well, reminded her of that being, she could not call the two the same.
This slime was pretty different from what she had raised back then, and it was a good thing.
"It's not just your darkness that it likes, Elle. I think it likes you more than your elemental affinity."
The creature was following Rein ever since it perceived her back at their house.
Rein was confused at first why a slime like this was following her around, but then she saw the elemental attribute that matched hers.
Though the slime was not a speciality, it was different from the other slimes that they had seen.
It had evolution skill, so it was still one of a kind, and not just that, the skill that this one had was also pretty unique.
Additionally, the slime was intelligent and not just aggressively affectionate.
It understood what Rein was saying, what she wanted it to do, and everything, even things that most other slimes or simpler creatures would never understand.
So, Rein knew this one was pretty different from the rest that she had come across, which also meant having it was much better than keeping it locked away somewhere.
"It likes me more then it's even better~!"
At first, she also thought that the slime was attracted to her because of her elemental affinity.
The slime strangely had an affinity for darkness attribute which was rare, but since it was an elemental being, it wasn't a surprise that it was attracted to her.
Also, the creature was not just attracted to her, it was pretty devoted to her, so Rein was getting close to her quite quickly.
"Can you two keep it down? We are working here!"
"Yes yes, mister worker genius."
Since two days had almost passed and they were almost done with their preparations, they were going to have a proper meal as soon as the three of them figured out what was wrong with their tech.
The ladies were waiting for them to finish and since they have not had any good food in the last two days, they were not in a good mood.
Eating the packed food and the one that they had brought with them was one thing, but the fun of cooking something in a fun place like this and eating it by themselves was something both Cradle and Rein were excited about.
And, they had promised them that they would cook today, so, since they were not done with their work despite it being evening, it wasn't the ladies' fault that they were doing whatever they could to distract themselves.
"Haaaa… what is the problem here? Everything is in place." Eon once again looked at everything with his third eye skill and even thought about using Lucy's analysis if they don't find the solution.
He had already used Question and asked Lucy what was wrong, but her simple answer was… nothing.
There was nothing wrong with the tech, and there was nothing wrong with the environment either. So, why wasn't it turning on?
"Could it be that something is interfering with it?"
Zodiac thought about it, but the headmaster shook his head at the thought.
"I already checked… Everything's fine. Besides, there's nothing here that could interfere with this thing."
The headmaster had wondered about what the problem might be as well, and along with Eon, they had been trying to find the solution for the last few hours.
They had tried everything that they could, and they still did not get any solutions to what the problem might be.
Still, they continued working on it… but it was getting late now.
"Wait. Headmaster… what did you just say?"
But, as if it was a sign from the heavens, a thought suddenly crossed Rein's mind.
"There's nothing here? What do you mean, Elle?"
"Exactly…"
Rein's eyes glowed and she thought about it with a somewhat enlightened look.
The slime in her hands crawled up to her shoulders and stayed there as she thought about this before looking around the place with her eyes… into the different layers of energy into the atmosphere.
"There's… nothing here." she mumbled under her breath, her eyes looking a little blank.
Continue your adventure with empire
"Exactly what we have been saying." Zodiac and Eon stopped whatever they were doing.
They thought about what Rein just said, and focused on her, even stopping the headmaster from what he was doing.
"What does that machine do, Eon?" She asked with a curious look as she moved to one of the pillars that did not have any crystals placed on it.
There were hundreds of crystals all around them and all of them were fixed into their positions.
She had helped with most of them as well so she knew where they were and how there were some areas where there were none.
"It decomposes the received energy and condenses it…? Why are you asking that though?"
Eon did not know what Rein was doing, but he had a hunch that she had found something about this place that they might have overlooked.
"Doesn't it use a dedicated energy transfusion method to do that? I mean, to make this work, don't we have to use the external energy or the one that it is receiving from various points around it to make it work?"
Though unrelated and scattered, there were places here that could not be used as the bounce point. Geometrically, it was not happening since intersections were happening away from them or around them but not over them.
Additionally…
"This place only has Mana."
With only one kind of energy, the flow of the energy should not happen the way it usually does: unevenly.
Just like heat, the energies should also flow from a higher entropy zone to a lower entropy zone.
"A flow channel…"
The headmaster suddenly realised what Rein was pointing towards and focused on the point where Rein was standing right now.
"The Mana here is already flowing in a certain path."
Though the reason for the absence of all other kinds of energy in this particular place was still unknown to them, they had remembered how energy, when seen from the perspective of atoms, behaved.
"There are many spots here that do not contain any Mana either, making them devoid of all the energies."
Because of these empty spots, the transfusion as it should happen according to the precoded program, does not take place.
"We have to locate all the holes and just fill them… that should do the trick-."
"Not enough."
This place was more unique than they had imagined. But, the solution to their problem was much simpler than they had thought.
"Headmaster, can you-."
-Oooooooooooong!
Before Eon even asked him, the headmaster released his own Mana and overlapped a layer of it over the entire area which their equipment was going to cover.
-Tring!
And, as soon as he did that, as soon as the Machine's receiving circuits were completed, it turned on instantly, making the familiar operation sound that the three of them were dying to hear since the last few hours.
"How fucking simple was that… haaaa…"
Cradle let out a deep sigh of relief when she saw Rein sitting down on the ground with a helpless smile.
Eon also started banging his head on the machine with a smile, not knowing how they did not even think about such a simple thing.
"We did not see it because we could not see it… these pillars…"
The headmaster wanted to do another thorough analysis of the pillars that were present here to see what they were made of to possess the qualities to manipulate the perception towards energies that They had.
"At least, we can go and eat now."
Ultimately though, they had faced a problem.
And now that the problem is solved… it was time for them to have their first Real mean in two days that they had been here.
