Chapter 526 Yuhe's Law
Chapter 526 Yuhe's Law
William's Accelerated Reflexes activated the moment that Yuhe used the Primary Law of Water, but just like against the Domains, there was nowhere to dodge to without leaving the Boss Room! Retreating would place his back against a wall and moving to either side was just as fruitless!
Not only William, but the other students realized the situation had become too dangerous for them to remain. They had no choice but to descend the nearby stairwell and return to the 9th floor until the battle ended.
While the students watched the battle from the 9th floor, William created a Starmetal cocoon to protect himself from the raging tsunami that was now just a few meters away.
Even with the Accelerated Reflexes Bonus Effect, the speed of Yuhe's attack far exceeded what even an Initial Deity Realm Cultivator could achieve. Unless William used other Magic Affinities, Yuhe was set to maintain the advantage for the remainder of the fight.
"Let's not waste time, just surrender already." Yuhe shouted from the opposite side of the room. She wanted to end the battle before William forced her to waste more Domain spheres.
William noticed Yuhe's pained expression from within his Starmetal cocoon. It was obvious that her most recent move was not without sacrifice. If he could just hold on for a few more exchanges, William might not even need to use other Talents, much less Magic Affinities.
"Why would I surrender when I'm this close to winning? How about you surrender instead; I'm not the one wasting special artifacts in a duel against a fellow student. If I were you, I would have saved those for a real fight such as the war you mentioned earlier... Or maybe even the upcoming Cultivator's Competition."
William's words struck true to Yuhe's internal thoughts. If not for her pride, she probably would have done exactly that. Instead, Yuhe became more and more desperate over the course of the battle to defeat William, leading her to the current situation.
"It's too late to back down now," Yuhe started, "I'm not going to surrender, so you better protect yourself well before I accidentally kill you." She finished with a warning.
William wanted to respond, but his cocoon was suddenly shaken by a strong force. The Primary Law of Water firmly grasped the cocoon as if it were a mere baseball inside the catcher's glove.
William's sense of direction was shaken up when the water dragged his cocoon through the Boss Room. The water pressure created small indentations on the sides of the cocoon, which would have destroyed any other material in an instant.
Yuhe couldn't believe that William was even able to defend against her Primary Law, especially when his own Earth Domain had not recovered. She continued to control the Law, swapping its purpose from trying to drown him to prioritizing the Starmetal cocoon. Discover hidden content at empire
Several leaks formed in William's cocoon, water leaking inside and slowly filling up the defensive Spell until it reached the top. William was forced to cancel the spell before the water restricted his body, prematurely reforming the Earth Domain to Create a temporary safe space for him.
Unfortunately, William was still underestimating the power of a Law. There was no Earth Mana available across the entire Boss Room, since all of it had been repurposed for Yuhe's attack.
I can't do anything! William thought to himself. Is there really no counter to a Primary Law besides another Primary Law?
-Of course there is a counter. There's always a counter to everything.
Then what is it?! William paid the System six Ascended Points for an answer, since it would be useful information for the future.
-Spell Reversion. You've learned this from Efretta, though you have yet to understand the basics. Aside from this, a strong enough Spell can overpower a Law, though only under certain circumstances.
-For example, you might be able to use the Starmetal Comet Spell to defeat several Primary Laws purposed for defense, but it would be useless in your current situation. The attack would simply go through the water, but you would still be submerged afterwards.
William sighed. Based on the System's explanation, his Earth Element had no capability to counter Yuhe's Primary Law. Since he decided to only use the Earth Affinity for this fight, William decided to try taking on her attack without Magic.
Water gripped William's arms and legs while he tried to swim through it with pure physical strength. It pulled him back and forth like a game of tug-of-war, tearing his muscles dozens of times in a second while his Ascended Recovery Talent kicked in and healed everything instantly.
Yuhe remained serious and controlled the Primary Law while in a focused state, her arrogance and usual desire for attention nowhere present. Nothing was on her mind at the moment besides defeating William and conserving as many of her remaining treasures as possible.
From below, the students could no longer see the battle situation clearly. They exclaimed in shock and awe when William and Yuhe's figures entered the view of the stairwell, but it was difficult to tell who was winning.
When William was injured, his Ascended Recovery Talent would heal everything in a flash, and Yuhe held too much of an advantage for William to strike back. At face value, William should be the loser of this fight, but for some reason the only one with an uncertain look was Yuhe.
First, it was William's Earthen Assassin Spell that forced one of Yuhe's trump cards in the first exchange. Then, it was the Domain of Earth that was so absurdly strong that it could nearly handle five opposing Domains by itself.
Now, it was William's physical strength and self-recovery so powerful that it could only be explained as a rare Innate Talent. It was as if William had been blessed by the Heavens, an existence not made for this World.
Every time Yuhe thought she had seen the limits of William's power, he showed yet another trump card that made her woozy. Worse yet, he at least had the Space Element as well. If he used it, Yuhe's Primary Law of Water would hardly do any damage to him.
The fact that William wasn't even going all out yet she had to use external support made her both jealous and ashamed. Did she even deserve to be called a member of the Slightwing Family?
The thought forced up several repressed memories. Memories of her overbearing father, who wouldn't be satisfied no matter how much improvement she displayed. Memories of her callous mother, whose loyalty for the organization always outweighed her concern for her daughter.
Her grandfather —the current Family Head— had no interest in his own children nor his children's children, merely focused on the numbers, statistics, and academic achievements of those who would one day succeed him. It wasn't uncommon for the oldest members of the Slightwing Family to ostracize or even outright exile underperformers.
"You useless child! How do you expect to win the competition when you can't even control a Primary Law?" The eldest of the Slightwing Family spat at a then fifteen-year-old Yuhe.
Her older siblings, who had received similar treatment in the past, shifted their attention away from their little sister, hoping that their inaction would keep them away from their grandfather's wrath.
