Chapter 489 Number Five
Chapter 489 Number Five
Before William could open his ethereal mouth to try and speak, the scene faded away and he returned to the Boss room on the 15th floor.
Xonya? William didn't recognize the name, so he asked the System for some Potential Points.
-Xonya, a mythical figure known as the Queen of the Tundra. She died almost four million years ago in the void between the Grandiu and Torio Planes. I'm guessing that's the figure referred to on the tablet. Did you learn the Language of the Elements secretly?
The System didn't say anything about the vision, so William guessed that it didn't experience what he had just seen. Even though the System could see everything he did normally, it seemed that it didn't necessarily share all of his experiences.
William shook his head. How could he have learned an entire language without the System noticing? That would be more difficult than an impossible Quest!
Why would something like this be in the Quake Dungeon? It should be some sort of Earth Elemental treasure, right? William asked.
-Naturally-formed Dungeons are very unpredictable, but the distance at which resources are pulled from only covers a fraction of the Plane. Wherever the Dungeon got this tablet from, it must be somewhat close.
William nodded in understanding, but something else bothered him. It was a bit stereotypical, but no red-eyed skeleton could be a friend, right?
No one could be sure if the skeleton was Xonya themself, or something else, but William would be stupid to trust something from a creepy vision. If he were to listen to the tablet and accidentally come across this character, wouldn't he potentially be walking to his own death?
I need more information on this Xonya, what do you know? William pressed the System for more answers.
-Why does it matter? Like I said, they died a long time ago.
The System's answer was curt, and despite William's willingness to spend Potential Points, it actually didn't want to so much as assign a price to William's question. He wondered what kind of question would have such an effect on the System.
I just want to know some more things about them. Do you really not know anything else? William used a lighter tone to ask. Discover hidden content at empire
After a few minutes of prodding, the System eventually gave in and answered for the price of William's last Free Ask, though not without a long sigh that William could almost hear through their connection. It gave him as much information as it had on Xonya, though there were still many missing pieces.
-Xonya was the hybrid daughter of a powerful female human and a Magical Beast. Her mother, Minjing, possessed both X-Rank Ice and SSR-Rank Water Affinities, while her father was a Nisse.
Knee-say? William asked.
-You pronounced it wrong, it's nee-suh.
-Nisse are shorter Magical Beasts that possess many humanoid features and are born with S-Rank Plant and Ice Magic Affinities. They typically weave red hats to appear taller to predators and have a special life-saving Innate Talent that substitutes their main body for an icy figurine.
-Normally humans do not awaken Affinities based on their family's heritage, but this does not apply to Magical Beasts and a few non-Magical Beast races. Xonya's mother, wanting her descendants to inherit her impressive Magic Affinities, visited the Nisse's territory for this purpose.
-Before her birth, Xonya awakened the same Innate Talent of the Nisse's, escaping Minjing's womb and replacing it with an ice sculpture of her infantile self. If her mother was anything but an Ascended Cultivator, she might not have even noticed the difference until the child was born.
-Minjing praised Xonya throughout her early childhood for her talents, but kept Xonya's father a secret for many years. In her hometown, the Grandiu Plane, mating with a Magical Beast was strictly forbidden.
-She raised Xonya by herself and taught her how to use her Innate Talent. Simultaneously, Minjing transferred her ultimate Cultivation Technique to her daughter at the age of five. Her teaching skill was strict but unmatched, and so Xonya broke through the Mortal shackles merely two weeks later.
-With a talented Ice Mage for a mother and a naturally gifted Magical Beast of the Ice Element, Xonya awakened SS-Rank Ice, Water, and S-Rank Plant Magic when she started Cultivating. This is when I first took notice of her and contracted with her as my Fifth Host.
She was your Host? William was surprised to find another one of the System's Hosts already. It had only been a few weeks since he encountered Efretta, but Xonya was mentioned not long after entering the Celestial Planes.
-Yes, now let me finish. You paid for it.
-Xonya's fame skyrocketed, though her height never exceeded one meter even by the age of twenty. Her fame became infamy as others realized she was unusual, and even Medicinal Pills couldn't fix her short stature. While she didn't think much of it herself, rumors started to circulate that Xonya's missing father was actually a gnome or the like.
-Matters became much worse when Xonya used a special Bloodline Spell to track the source of her blood. When she expected only one trail that led to her mother, she discovered that her father was alive and resided within the Magical Beast's territory.
-She despised her mother for lying to her, but Xonya remained silent until the age of forty-five, when her Cultivation reached the peak of the Deity Realm. She abandoned her mother and traveled to the Magical Beast's territory, using the Bloodline Spell to trace her roots.
-Her father was countless times stronger than Xonya, but she wasn't there for a fight. After hearing the situation, Xonya's father was more open than Minjing. She lived with him and the other Nisse for a hundred years, learning everything her mother had failed to or chosen not to teach her.
-She even discovered a forbidden method to permanently change her appearance and height. She became the woman of many's dreams, though the years of suffering from insults had changed her forever.
-After only a few months of once again living among humans, Xonya realized that her problem wasn't with the insults, but humans themselves. Whether it was the Nisse blood in her or how she was treated, Xonya traveled down a path that turned her fame into infamy.
-She joined the Magical Beasts and worked with them to take over territory after territory, transferring her knowledge of the human race to her new allies in exchange for more power. With her father's backing and many resources from plundered cities, Xonya's strength grew exponentially.
-By the age of one thousand, Xonya had reached the Stellar Deity Realm and had conquered the entirety of the Grandiu Plane. All methods of transportation to and from other Planes were completely cut off, and the humans trapped within became the slaves of the Magical Beasts.
-She used that time to experiment on herself, transforming her body to become less human and more like different Magical Beasts. She grafted parts and used blood of her Magical Beast allies to become like them, though to humans she would be considered a monstrosity.
-Each experiment was more absurd than the last, and her sanity quickly dropped as a result. By the age of one hundred thousand, Xonya had become the number one enemy of all humanity, and I was there to watch everything unfold.
