Chapter 663 Freezing effects
Chapter 663 Freezing effects
Rain spent the whole day working alongside the warriors that didn't fight that much. When night came, the people in the port town were able to see the night sky in quite a while… that put Rain in a good mood, so he went to see if he could help Lotto in some way, but soon he found Terra looking for him.
"Rain, we received the report that the warriors in the south started to fight some kraken dragons," Terra said. "Five battles already happened and while they won, they already lost one hundred warriors." Read new chapters at My Virtual Library Empire
"Even on land, the kraken dragons are troublesome," Rain said while rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Still, they will have to deal with that since we have bigger problems here."
As Rain wondered how he could aid the southern army without physically being there, he arrived at Lotto's temporary workshop. To his surprise, he found Jori and Reca deep in experimentation, testing a peculiar sword and a gleaming spear. Both weapons were crafted from dragon bones, their surfaces emanating an intense and chilling cold.
The hilt of each weapon was fashioned from ice-blue ice dragon scales, giving them an awe-inspiring and formidable appearance. Rain couldn't help but admire at the craftsmanship and the unique properties of these weapons. It was evident that Lotto and his team had harnessed the essence of the ice dragons to create potent and deadly tools for battle.
These weapons held the promise of being a game-changer in the ongoing conflict with the dragons.
"Hey, Rain. Look at this," Jori said while grinning.
After holding his new sword for a moment, Jori used his mana and then fired that energy beam technique in the shape of a sword to the sky… it was supposed to be made of mana only, but now it assumed a frigid form like it was made of ice.
"Pretty neat, right?" Jori asked.
"You sure are trying hard to look cool," Rain said. "Even though you used your wife as a shield to defeat that dragon."
"Are you going to bring that in every single conversation?" Jori asked and then sighed.
"Yes," Rain said and then Jori facepalmed. "It seems that things are going well… we can make those two fight all the fire dragons with those weapons."
"I wouldn't go that far…" Lotto said after he raised his eyebrow.
"You can count me in on that," Reca said while controlling the remaining snow around. "I haven't been good at using magic, but this is pretty fun."
It was hard to imagine how Reca could incorporate regular magic to her fighting style, but that should help her eventually. The fact that the spear was also emitting a chilling air was already enough, though.
"Since we have plenty of materials here, I can try to mass produce shields and armor using the bodies of the dragons… as crazy as that sounds," Lotto said.
"Most of the shields and armor that the warriors have are still working enough and didn't suffer enough damage, so it will be better if you focus on making weapons," Rain said. "At least until we hear things from the underwater kingdom."
Seadrei was taking his time sending reports about things in his side and Rain was starting to regret the fact that he had decided to wait for him… attacking the sea dragons the way he dealt with the ice dragons wasn't possible since the water would make the projectiles lose power and it was hard to track them down as well in the depths of the ocean. Besides, there were risks of tsunamis.
Seadir only showed up with news around midnight, and while he apologized for the delay, he had to deal with Rain's annoyed eyes until he convinced everyone that he had been slow for a good reason.
"... Some of our people disappeared in the middle of the confusion, and they are at pretty high ranked positions in our realm too," Seadir said and then hesitated when he looked at Seara. "Some of our brothers and sisters left as well and we have many reasons to believe that they joined the dragons."
Seara wasn't taken aback by the revelation that some of the sea folk had sided with the dragons. In fact, she had suspected that this might be the case for some time. She had sensed an unusual atmosphere brewing within the underwater kingdom, a lingering sense of discontent and unrest that had been growing over time.
Though it was disheartening to realize that even some of her own family had joined the dragons, Seara understood that there were deeper reasons behind their choices. This only served to show the complexity of the situation and the challenges they faced in trying to unite their people against the common threat posed by the dragons.
"... Did you already find connections between that and their recent actions?" Seara asked.
"The areas that those who disappeared were defending didn't suffer any casualties in the last few days, so there is that," Jori said. "There is also the fact that they took some books from our library recently and those aren't in their residences and rooms. They also took a bunch of coral spears that father was waiting to give to those who he saw fit."
"What is your father doing regarding this?" Rain asked
"The sea dragons are retreating, but we are too weakened to check things in their territory… those who disappeared are pretty strong too and they took a bunch of people with them," Seadir explained. "We can't do a single thing and we believe that soon we will be attacked again since those guys knows a lot about the parts that we are lacking."
"Well, at least they will do something different this time," Rain said. "We can't stay for sure if those who left are the only ones who can betray your people, so I would advise on looking and investigating more suspicious individuals. You guys will have to become stronger too, and we can help with that."
