Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 658 Preparations

Chapter 658 Preparations

Rain's explanation was straightforward and to the point, but the implications of his words were deeply troubling. It was clear to everyone that Rain had identified a necessary course of action, but coming to terms with it was a bitter pill to swallow. The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on their hearts as they grappled with the harsh reality of what lay ahead.

It was a simple plan, but the sacrifices it demanded were anything but easy to accept.

"What if there is another way?" Sears asked. "Can you one shot the ice dragons if Dad lent you his spear?"

"That is hard to say… ice dragons are more resilient than others," Rain said while rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Besides, attacking them beyond the sky will surprise them with one hundred percent accuracy rate. Also, can your father do that when everyone will see me using the spear?"

"We don't have much of a choice when we are losing warriors just for the cold of the ocean, right?" Seara asked while looking at her brother.

"... It might raise problems, but we don't have many other options," Seadir hesitated. "At this rate, we won't last even for one week."

As Seadir looked at Rain with a complicated expression, Rain understood the unspoken message that passed between them. The fear that Seadrei might become a target for traitors as the situation grew more challenging weighed on their minds. He recognized the need to ensure Seadrei's safety by keeping him away from the frontlines.

However, Seadrei was a proud and determined individual who wouldn't willingly step aside without a compelling reason. Balancing the need for safety with Seadrei's sense of honor and duty posed a complex dilemma for Rain.

"I suppose giving up on the town that easily is a bad move… and if we borrow Seadrei spear, we can make him move away from the front lines for a while, as long as we get some results, things will be fine," Rain rubbed his chin. "Let's do this, then."

The fact that the group didn't have the luxury of waiting for the dragon bone weapons was indeed troubling. Those powerful weapons would have been incredibly valuable, but the urgency of the situation left no time for such preparations. Rain and his allies hoped that they could manage to fend off the ice dragons without them.

If they succeeded, perhaps the sea dragons would eventually give up on their quest as well, and the dragon bone weapons would find their use in another time, ensuring the safety of the port town and its people.

After thinking for a while and talking with the others about what they could do, Rain assumed that their best option was to use the spear and the shield at the same time… it would be fine if Rain used the shield for a couple of seconds.

As for the spear, they could ask at night where few people would know where Seadrei would be… that being said, he would be left unprotected and that was a clear problem.

"If we are going to move only at night, we will have to be as deadly as possible to counter the effects of the dragons spell," Rain said. "I want to start already, but we already lost some hours, so it can't be helped.

We will prepare during the day and then go all out at night to kill as many ice dragons as possible to decrease the power of the spell and if possible, make them run away as soon as possible."

"You can return to Dad and bring that idea to him and convince him to play defensively tomorrow," Seara said. Experience new stories on My Virtual Library Empire

"Both things are easier said than done," Seadir said and then sighed. "Well, I will do my best."

Seadir nodded after looking at Rain… he will be on guard in case anyone suspicious does anything… if they catch their intentions, attacking Seadrei tomorrow will be their best option.

"We need to rest as well and the warriors are outside to do the watch duty," Rain said.

"We are going to do solve some things and then we will follow you, don't wait for us," Seara said.

Rain squinted his eyes… it was hard to imagine that his wives were up to no good. It was also hard to imagine that they were doing something hot without him, they always refused him with clear intentions when he asked for some three players action. They weren't that comfortable with each other to see the other in action.

Regardless, Rain had to put the kids to sleep to spend some quality time with them, so he didn't mind it. When he checked his wives with magic, he only saw them meditating.

"... I guess they are trying to come up with a spell to help me," Rain thought. "They are working too hard since they are worried."

Rain couldn't help but feel the weight of responsibility pressing on his shoulders. He knew that his actions were causing concern and worry among his wives. Seeing them troubled was something he wanted to avoid at all costs.

He made a silent promise to himself that he would not only get physically stronger but also use his intelligence and strategic thinking to find a way to ease their anxieties and protect their loved ones in the port town.

Rain went to sleep since he was pretty tired with those thoughts and woke up when the sun was rising… even though he couldn't see it thanks to the clouds in the area. Soon enough, Rain confirmed that his wives were sleeping in the room, but they looked tired… they went to sleep pretty late.

"I should start working on the next steps… can't let them worry endlessly about me," Rain thought and then jumped from his bed.

Rain went to grab the shield and put it on his back and put a cloak on it just in case to hide it. After that, Rain looked around for the ice spears that the other dragon that he had killed had fired before… they could be useful.
