Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 655 Wrong

Chapter 655 Wrong

Rain closed his eyes and began to focus his mind on the surroundings. His senses got sharper, and he cleared his mind of useless thoughts.

Before long, another spear was fired toward him from the same direction, but Rain just made a smaller one emerge from the ocean and then hit it from below.

The giant ice spear passed above Rain and then eventually passed above the port town before falling dozens of kilometers away from it.

"It is just a stupid one, huh," Rain thought and then smirked. "Transcendental Intelligence, my ass. I will learn this technique and show you dumbasses who is the boss."

The attacks were coming from the same direction, so Rain assumed that a single ice dragon was trying to mess with him, but it was too scared to fight him like that… or they were busy freezing the ocean. That would explain why other dragons didn't show up when one of them was killed and roared. Either Way, it was fine.

The attacks kept coming, and Rain kept repelling them while he was thinking of something else… until Rain got tired of repelling them and just straight out stopped them… using his ice magic, Rain stopped the attacks before they hit him… that consumed a lot of mana, but that worked… more and more of them kept coming, so he could tell that the dragon was getting annoyed.

"Considering the interval between the attacks… the flying speed of the projectiles, I assume that the dragon is one hundred and ten kilometers away at one o'clock," Rain thought. "I can cross this distance in two minutes, I guess, if I go all out. Still, I need to know if they have such good eyesight or if they have another skill that helps them with that… this will be useful to know."

Rain moved a couple of meters to the side, and then, the next spear still almost hit him… the enemy could see him perfectly. Still, since Rain couldn't feel any bloodlust, the enemy probably was using some other means to locate him… it was probably the cold of the area.

Dragons, in many ways, resembled enormous serpents with their long bodies and scales. It wasn't surprising that some dragons had developed an exceptional ability to detect heat signatures. Given their snake-like nature, it was entirely possible for these creatures to possess the means to pinpoint the exact location of their targets, even from incredible distances.

Moreover, the ice dragons' mastery of controlling extreme cold, which allowed them to create and manipulate ice with ease, likely amplified their heat-detection capabilities. The dragons could use their cold magic to sense heat in their surroundings, providing them with an advantage when hunting or locating potential threats.

This heightened sensitivity to heat signatures made it even more challenging for anyone to evade their watchful eyes.

Rain confirmed that when he enveloped himself in an ice armor… the attacks stopped coming since the armor completely sealed away the heat in his body.

The dragon found itself in a state of confusion, uncertain about its next course of action. From its current distance, it couldn't definitively confirm whether Rain had used mana or not. This uncertainty left the dragon in a dilemma, as it hesitated to make a move in the absence of clear information.

While the creature was wondering what it should do… it was suddenly attacked from below. A massive blast of water erupted on the ocean, and then Rain emerged inside the ice armor. Thanks to the surprise, he was able to hit the chest of the monster with all his might with a powerful punch, and in the last moment, Rain also turned the right arm of his armor into a sword that pierced the ice dragon.

"Ugh… cursed human! You will pay for this!" The ice dragon roared.

"Wow, it talks," Rain said. Read the latest on empire

It was the second time Rain heard the voice of a dragon, and while he knew that they could speak, he didn't expect that.

The dragon flew high in the sky, trying to put some distance between Rain and itself, but Rain kept following the beast as if he could fly, but he was just controlling the ice armor.

Even without looking, the beast kept firing ice spears, but Rain destroyed them with his punches launched with his left arm.

Eventually, the ice dragon disappeared into the sky, and then Rain entered it. He felt his armor being enveloped by a cold air, and then it started to get heavier… The ice dragon was trying to seal him inside the ice.

"Wrong," Rain said. "Incorrect. Stupid. Moron."

The dragon crossed the clouds, imagining that Rain was getting covered in ice, but soon, the armor crossed the clouds and reached the beast. The dragon used ice breath after turning around and eventually completely enveloped the armor and stopped from approaching.

When the creature smirked thanks to the satisfaction, it suddenly felt a powerful blow coming from the side. The body of the monster was pushed away, and then the ice dragon saw Rain in its previous spot… it seemed that he left the armor at some point before it could cross the clouds completely.

The ice dragon groaned in annoyance and then used Dragon Rage… As the ice dragon roared in a fit of rage, the snow clouds responded to its intense emotion. The frigid temperatures of the dragon's aura caused the clouds to freeze, turning them into an icy spectacle in the sky.

These snow clouds had originally formed at temperatures just above freezing. However, in the presence of the dragon's cold aura, they rapidly froze, dropping well below freezing to around -22°F (-30°C). The power of the ice dragon was so immense that it could turn the very elements against themselves, freezing the moisture in the air and turning it into an arctic storm.

"This one is stronger than the others… despite the fact that it is pretty stupid," Rain thought.
