Chapter 368 - Time For A Timeskip
Chapter 368 - Time For A Timeskip
"Hah" William sighed, "That sounds like a good made up story to me."
"Yes, you could say that it is." Wilfred didn’t deny it, "Believe it or not… I truly searched for you a long time."
"About that, since when did you tried to search for me again?" William asked, truly curious about the matter.
Wilfred didn’t even need to think as he repiled, "2 years ago."
"Where… no, how did you learn about me? I’m pretty sure it was a tight lipped matter in that place." William said sarcastically, "And don’t say it was from that woman."
"I don’t know who you are talking about but I had learned about you from Diana."
"Diana?"
He nodded, "I was in one of my trips, that is completely unrelated to this matter and while their I had talked with my little princess and she had blurted out your name to me then quickly changed the topic."
Wilfred then gave a dark look, "But when I asked her about it, she didn’t tell me anything. You know… it was the first time, Diana had ever lied to me. She may have lied numerous times in her life but never to me."
"So I became curious and learned about you from her mother."
William searched in his memories as a blonde beautiful woman came to view, "Charlotte Heartfallen."
Wilfred saw the way his grandson called her name. It wasn’t with hatred nor love but neutrality. He could already see the heavy damage pour upon him about his family which would take a millennia or even more to cure.
"That reminds me," William said, "Is she still hunting for me?"
"Charlotte… no," Wilfred shook his white haired head, "After I learned it from her, I told her to stop searching for you." He said, thinking that would bring relief to his grandson but it only brought worry.
"So… if it’s not her than it’s definitely that bitch." William said holding his hands together, crunching his knuckles.
Seeing that the topic is going towards a bad point, Wilfred said, "Don’t worry about her anymore. I’ll stop her."
"No no, don’t do that." William had a smile, "She still is nowhere close to find me and besides… I’ve put a bit of a surprise for her."
Wilfred raised his brows but didn’t question any further.
"Anything else you want to know about?"
William looked at him and his face made a scene as if he remembered that Wilfred was in front of him, "Did you… seriously forget that I was sitting here?"
In answer, William laughed, "Sorry… was just thinking about a prank."
"Will it be harmless?"
"Harmless… definitely not." William asked, "Why... do you have a problem?"
Wilfred wanted to nod but thinking about the circumstances, he slowly shook his head, "No… she or her family deserves much more than what you will do to her."
"Oh, I doubt that." William gave a suspicious smile. Then his smile faltered as he asked, "How is she? The woman that gave birth to me."
Wilfred’s eyes went wide, "You don’t know?"
Seeing William’s confused look confirmed it for him, "Your mother died a year after you left."
William’s face was quiet as if he didn’t hear what was said. Then slowly it turned sorrowful before he looked down and became quiet.

"Okay," After sometime he answered, "So she’s dead then… how did she die?"
"She died giving birth to your brother."
William was shocked sure, but the death of his mother overcame the news of his younger brother, "Good riddance."
Wilfred creased his brows, not in anger nor disgust, "You shouldn’t say that."
William looked back at him once more, his eyes serious again, "We went beyond the topic we should be talking about." He straightened his posture, "Now tell me, Wilfred Halbert, what is it that you want?"
"What I want," Wilfred’s hard face softened, something that none of his enemies knew he had, "is to spend time with the grandson that I never knew, was."
But even under his heartfelt words, William was cold, "But why should I waste my time with you?"
"…" Wilfred thought for a moment but didn’t think to find anything that would justify it so he said, "I deserve a second chance. I know that it’s my fault for neglecting the duty of protecting you but I am here now and I can promise you that I will try my hardest."
William took his words and thought hard. Then Wilfred’s face sank seeing William shake his head, "I’m sorry but that’s not possible anymore."
"Why not!"
"I can see that you really mean those words and if it were a different situation then maybe… maybe I would have accepted it but," William stood up and patted his clothes, "I moved on from that family and now I’m approaching a different path."
"One that will lead me to untold heights and I can’t do that with you tagging alongside me."
"Why not?" Wilfred didn’t understand why he was being rejected so blatantly like that, "I have power and connections, I can help you reach those heights more easily."
"That’s it though," William looked at him with a bit of pride, "I have reached so far by myself and I will also reach that height alone. Besides… you would more likely be a hinder to me rather than help me."
William saying his bit, turned around and walked away. Seeing his last chance at redemption walking away, Wilfred shouted, "You despise your blood so much that you would rather take your chance at the monsters in the dark then be with your family?"
William stopped, snickering as he said while glancing from the corner of his eyes, "You mean the wolves that threw me away to fend for myself? Then yes I am." He turned back and started walking again.
Wilfred looked down at the fire before him, it was warm and filled with light but he didn’t feel it. He took a deep breath before standing up and saying loudly, "Then why don’t we make a contract?"
I stopped in my tracks.
"You propose everything that you want from me and in exchange I get to spend time with you."
William showing his back, smiled.
"Why didn’t you say that before?"
...
[ 5 Years Later ]
5 years went by as William and Wilfred made a contract. Which unknown to Wilfred, made him more inclined to favorite William because of his special skill.
These five year didn’t go by fast, it was slow and hard. But it was also very fruitful for William.
The Trust Bank went more than successful; it was the biggest achievement William had achieved. His banking services which was only bound to just one city before now encompassed globally.
When I say, globally, I mean only the four kingdoms. But that itself is one of the greatest things accomplish-able which very few had done.
Not only that but William’s other establishments such as the casino, charity, housing and other businesses were a massive success.
It all started with the deal he had with Saintsgate that brought him great fame. It not only bath him incredible amounts of money but it also helped him start his road to Buying Everything.
So here he stood, in the highest floor of TRUST as he gazed at the floating number before him which nobody else could see.
