'System? What the fuck?' Michael called out as the pain began to engulf him whole. Even for him, with so much pain resistance, it was becoming unbearable.
Yet, the system simply replied in a relaxed voice, I am working on it, you anomaly. Be quiet.
He groaned in frustration, trying his best to calm the mana down, but, like the previous attempts, it was all in vain.
His power was increasing rapidly, yet at the same time, it was overflowing his current available reserves, causing more harm than good.
And the only way he knew how to deal with it was by relying on the system.
But even as the minutes passed with nothing happening, he decided to take matters into his own hands.
Taking a rough breath, he instantly began interacting with the mana inside him—the same mana that was growing rampant.
Yet the moment he did so, he realized the only reason it was reacting like this in the first place was that it was attempting to combine with his mana core.
From the looks of things, it seemed incompatible, which, in turn, was the root of the issue.
However, he had no actual knowledge of how to fix it—only how to relieve it.
And that was by simply discharging it outward.
But the moment he tried, a beam of light left his body, heading toward a nearby wall.
Soon, it collided and shook the entire space he was in. At the same time, a few pebbles fell from the ceiling above.
Safe to say, if he were to do it a couple more times, he would be dying not from the pain, but from the ceiling and everything else falling on top of him.
'Fuck...' Michael exclaimed, not really seeing an option here.
Nonetheless, he had to get this mana out of him, so he tread carefully. Summoning a multilayered barrier around himself, he tried again.
Alas, it was the same result—the beam of light penetrated his barrier, once again causing an impact on the wall.
This time, however, it seemed a tad bit weaker, though if more of them occurred, the ceiling would fall onto him, no doubt.
There was a possibility of him being able to push the ceiling back or hold it together with his barrier, but, in the end, he didn't want to risk it.
'System... are you done yet?' he questioned, feeling as though the pain was slightly fading—or perhaps that was just his senses. Explore stories on empire
However, he soon found out that was not the case, as the mana actually began stabilizing inside him.
The only problem? It was not inside his Flow Core.
Instead, the mana began scattering and regathering itself inside his throat.
For a moment, he found it hard to breathe, as though he was being suffocated.
However, it soon calmed down to the point where it seemed as though nothing had happened.
Yet the pain served as a reminder that it had—since, for some reason, it wasn't going away.
'What did you do?' Michael questioned, his entire body still heavy from the pain.
I fixed it, the system replied nonchalantly, not addressing what it had just done.
But he could feel it—the amount of mana inside his throat was abnormal, to the point where he could accurately say:
'Did you just form a mana core?'
I did, the system stated, and immediately, he opened up his status.

'The stats... everything increased by so much?' Michael stared at the status screen in shock.
But the most important thing was the second mana core—Speech.
It didn't seem orthodox because of its simple name, and the system had not mentioned it to him before, either.
Therefore, he could only assume it was something unique—much more unique than his Flow.
These stats, as well as his mana purity, set him far above others of a similar tier. He could likely kill anyone at Tier 4 now, and he might even stand a chance against those at Tier 5.
He quickly stopped himself from having these thoughts. As strong as he was, growing overconfident would do him no good.
However, the matter at hand was still of utmost importance—and that was the fact that he had actually achieved a second mana core.
Using the mana from his Flow core, he tried interacting with the one in his throat, but it didn't seem to work—mostly bouncing off.
Then, he tried using the Speech core. However, it was a bit different than he expected.
All the mana in the core seemed to just dance around, not wanting to be controlled.
Soon, he received the answer why.
You have to speak in order to use it, and the more you speak and use it, the faster it gains power.
'Can I try it out?' Michael questioned, looking around himself.
And the system quickly agreed.
Of course.
