Chapter 779: Chapter 779: A Billion-Dollar Gift
Olivia Jenkins and Daniel Marshall had already stepped out of the car, hand in hand walking into the house. Bella Thompson, by the window, glared resentfully at them.
Her persistent prayers day and night had not been answered, leaving her disgruntled.
She still believed she could win, with Sebastian pulling the strings behind the scenes; she wasn’t defeated yet.
As long as they had the slightest breath left, the sibling duo would not admit defeat; Daniel and the patriarch wouldn’t be able to obliterate them wildly just like that.
…
Seeing their dearly beloved grandson and his wife returning home, Olivia Jenkins and Daniel Marshall reconciling to their old affectionate terms, the old patriarch was genuinely elated, his joy was evident on his face.
“Please sit down, you two. I’ve brewed some small green tangerine tea for you. I’ve also ordered the kitchen to prepare a large meal for you both. You both seem to have lost weight. You need to eat more!”
With a radiant smile on her beautiful face, Olivia said, “Thank you, grandfather. The small green tangerine tea is as aromatic as ever, it’s delicious!”
The old patriarch’s eyes twinkled with a genial smile, “Wait a moment, I’ll pack a few boxes for you to take home. I’ve also prepared some bird’s nest, cordyceps, and other tonics. Have your servants cook more soup, you need to take care of your health.
Daniel has gotten tanned and seeing the scars on your hands, it still makes my heart ache. But, you’ve truly grown up and are shouldering more responsibilities. I am extremely proud of you; the future of the Marshall’s is in safe hands!”
The sharp gaze in Daniel’s eyes as he looked at his grandfather displayed some humility, “You’re over-praising me, grandfather. I’m merely doing my duty. I do have the responsibility to lead the Marshall Corporation and set an example for everyone.”
Subtly nodding, the old patriarch said, “This time, both of you performed excellently. Particularly Olivia, you’ve not disappointed me. I always reward those who perform well.”
The old patriarch gestured to Aria Douglas, who immediately brought a gift box and handed it to Olivia.
With a warm smile, the old patriarch’s approving gaze fell on Olivia, “Child, open it and take a look.”
A slight smile on her face, Olivia gently opened the gift box to find a set of diamond jewelry.
Olivia knew this set of diamond jewelry was very precious. It was a collector’s item from a recent overseas auction. It was a whopping hundred million!
Immediately, Olivia opened her eyes wide in surprise, staring at her grandfather in disbelief.
Speaking softly, the old patriarch said, “You take it, it’s yours. You truly deserve it.”
“Grandfather, this gift is too valuable!”
“It’s just a small token, it’s okay. You accept it.”
Daniel agreed, “Wife, you are worth it.”
Olivia giggled, “Thank you, grandfather!”
“You two go wash your hands, it’s almost dinner time. Your father will be back home too.”
Speak of the devil, and he appears. Michael Marshall walked in briskly.
Daniel paused and warmly embraced his dad.
Seeing his son safe and sound, Michael Marshall was unusually emotional, his eyes glistening with tears, “It’s good to have you back, both of you did an excellent job!”
Nodding slightly, Olivia looked at her father-in-law and respectfully called out to him, “Dad.”
“Alright! Let’s get ready for dinner and chat while eating!”
It had been a while since they all had a family dinner. Everyone was tactful enough not to mention Bella Thompson, behaving as if she didn’t exist.
The old patriarch even took the initiative to serve Olivia and Daniel some dishes.
The dinner table was well-prepared with abalone, lobsters, large prawns, grilled oysters, sweet and sour pork ribs, steamed grouper fish, stir-fried beef with broccoli… The dinner was exceptionally lavish!
Olivia was enjoying the food. Besides, she had not had seafood in a long time.
The old patriarch repeatedly urged, “Eat more, you two. If it’s not enough, the kitchen can prepare more. I’ve been worried that you’ve been under-fed.”
