Chapter 1348: Nothing stressful
Chapter 1348: Nothing stressful
Shen Li glared at the four mers and said to them, "It is indeed true that I am carrying our children but that doesn’t mean that you have the right to keep such a big information from me."
"I’m not just a father but also Yu Dong’s husband! As her husband, I have the right to know where she is and whether or not she is in danger. Start caring about me as a person and not just because I’m pregnant!"
Shen Li couldn’t help but feel that these people only cared about him because he was pregnant. The entire family was willing to worry about the kids but no one paid attention to him, it was as if his value as a person himself was pushed to the back because of the children he was carrying.
He cared and loved his children but he loved Yu Dong just as much! How could he stay calm after knowing that Yu Dong faced the bear alone?
She couldn’t even use her spiritual energy as there were other huntresses along with her. She could have seriously hurt herself!
Shen Li wished he could hit someone when he thought about how Yu Dong’s life was in danger and he had no idea about it!
The mers suddenly felt guilty after hearing Shen Li’s words. He wasn’t wrong as they had indeed chosen to care for the children rather than Shen Li. Their first concern when they heard about Yu Dong’s condition was to hide it from Shen Li.
The reason was simple. They did not want him to go into an early labour that might harm the children.
Shen Li was pushed to the back by them.
"We are sorry, Brother Li," Chen Mi was the first one to apologise as he looked at Shen Li with an apologetic expression. "We only wanted to keep you and the children safe. It was never our intention to make you feel like we only cared about the children and not you."
"He is right," Fang Chi said in a hurried manner. His voice came out rushed as he jumped over a few words and said to Shen Li, "We only did it because we know how much you love your children, we were afraid that if something happened then you would feel guilty. It will only make you feel even worse."
"Sorry Brother Li," Ye Liu was much more direct as he knew that if he were in Shen Li’s shoes he too would want to know where Yu Dong was rather than being kept in a blind corner.
"I apologise with all my heart," Xiao Hua said to Shen Li who snorted. He turned on his feet and then walked inside the bedroom where he looked at Yu Dong who was now tied and perfectly wrapped like a mummy.
Only her face was left untied but even her face too had a few layers of ointment applied on it.
"How is she, Doctor Gu?" Shen Li asked Doctor Gu who closed her wooden box that held medicine and bandages. She turned to look at Shen Li and replied, "She is in a bad state. Her front is missing a huge chunk of flesh, that needs time to regrow."
"Her face had several scratches that were a bit too deep and she seemed to have been pushed down by that bear—— her spine had a crack. A bit more and she would have been paralysed for all her life."
She paused and added, "Her head also seemed to have been injured. But we will need to see if she has a blood clot or not when she wakes up."
"And of course, her wounds this time will leave scars… so I hope you will be prepared."
None of the words spoken by Doctor Gu brought joy to the five mers but as long as Yu Dong was fine, they did not care about anything.
Shen Li thanked Doctor Gu for her hard work and paid her fees. He then turned to look at Yu Dong who was lying on the bed and pinched her cheek angrily. If he had known that she would get into a mess like this because of the childish fight, he would have beaten the two kids until they knew not to make a fuss over stupid things.
"You… you are so stupid!" Shen Li said to the unconscious Yu Dong.
On the other side, Wu Junfen was looking at the dagger that was etched deep into the neck of the bear. No one seemed to have realized that it wasn’t Yu Dong who delivered the last blow to the bear, it was this dagger.
Though Yu Dong’s tactic was indeed perfect, the arrow didn’t pierce the heart of the bear completely. If not for this dagger that was pushed further into the neck of the bear when it dropped down, it wouldn’t have died.
’Should I take it as Yu Hai protecting Yu Dong one last time?’ Wu Junfen thought as she reached out and caught the dagger in her hands. However, her eyes widened when she realized something.
"You… you are still here? For what?" She muttered as she blew her breath on the dagger. No sooner did she blow her breath on the dagger, than the spirit inside the dagger took a form.
And a golden orb came out of the tip just as Wu Junfen pulled the dagger out of the skin of the bear.
’Thank you,’ a quiet voice echoed in Wu Junfen’s ear before the golden orb zoomed in the sky and vanished.
Wu Junfen watched it disappear and pursed her lips. She looked at the sky and muttered, "You were indeed saved by your mother, eh Dong Dong."
While Wu Junfen released the soul trapped in the dagger, the villagers were eyeing the bear fearfully. However, at the same time, they were filled with joy.
Everyone knew that bear meat could be eaten and sold. However as this bear was hunted by Yu Dong, they knew it perfectly well that Yu Dong would certainly keep the meat and sell the rest.
Though they had meat to eat every now and then, who would refuse more meat?
"This bear is so big. I think his meat will last for a week," one of the villagers said to her husband.
"One week? Pfft! Look at the size! It is twice the size of the bear that was brought back by Yu Hai. It will last at least fifteen days!" Another woman corrected the first one.
"Thank goodness we have an ice chamber where we can keep meat. Or else this bear meat would have turned spoiled in a few days with all the heat," one of the mers said as he clapped his hands.
Aunt Wang heard the happy voices of the villagers and rolled her eyes. These people really had it easy, they didn’t even know that they would have died if not for Yu Dong killing this bear in time. If not they would have certainly not smiled like this.
"You seem quite peeved," Uncle Fu said to Aunt Wang who shook her head snd and said to him, "I’m not, it’s just that I’m worried about Yu Dong. She received quite serious injuries."
Though she didn’t hear what Doctor Gu said to the mers, she did see the injuries on Yu Dong’s body.
The blood and scars were enough to show that Yu Dong did not receive some small injuries but instead, it was quite major ones.
Uncle Fu patted Aunt Wang on the shoulder and said to her, "She will be fine. That girl survived happy powder, she will certainly survive the wound on her body as well."
"I hope so," Aunt Wang sighed. Just as Doctor Gu stepped out of the Yu family.
When Aunt Wang and Wu Junfen saw Doctor Gu they stepped forward and looked at her. They were not the only ones, even the rest of the villagers turned to look at Doctor Gu.
A chill climbed over Doctor Gu’s spine as she looked at the crowd and said to them, "Don’t look at me like that, you all are scaring me. It as if you will bury me along with Yu Dong if something happened—-"
"Did something happen to her?" One of the villagers gasped as they looked at Doctor Gu. Once she gasped everyone turned to look at Doctor Gu with an even fervent gaze causing the poor woman to tremble in fright.
"Of course not!" Doctor Gu said to the villagers. "She is indeed seriously injured however as long as she doesn’t do anything strenuous she will be fine!"
The villagers heaved a sigh of relief, if this was the case then it was fine. What could Yu Dong even do in that condition?
"Dong Dong… let… let me go," Fang Chi who came to wipe Yu Dong’s sweat, stammered as he looked at Yu Dong who was hovering over him in her feverish daze.
