GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 1996 Success Or Failure.

Chapter 1996 Success Or Failure.

Chapter 1996  Success Or Failure.

The first sage is powerful, but he can never beat her when it comes to seeing the truth. He can predict where a rock will fall after rolling down a mountain, but he can't tell that the rock is an egg that has been encased in earth.

Sometimes, where the rock lands is all that is important. But other times it is the effect of the fall down the mountain on the egg within the rock that matters. Just like that situation, she had noticed something peculiar about CARNAGE. What she noticed apart from its identity is that CARNAGE is not just a world ender anymore. This is critical information that can lead to failure in their plan to subdue a Cosmic source with the Apocalypse weapon.

She didn't tell Ghastorix and the Serpentine world god about her observations, though. Instead, she had stubbornly decided to continue helping the first sage and had convinced them to do the same. Not that she lied to them earlier. It is just like she had said; this is their only chance of getting anything out of this situation. While she is still hoping that the first sage's plan will succeed and she will become a Usurper and she is willing to help him for that slim chance, she will be content with his failure.

She doesn't know what she wants more between success or failure, but she knows that she wants the option of failure so that she won't lose out in this deal. ----

Meanwhile, Legion was working on completing their first Universal Artifact. Actually, they intend to change its name since it won't be a mere tool. It will be part of them. They intend to call it Legion-0. It will be part of Legion in the future, and since it will be the point of connection for all the other members of Legion that will join them in the future, they decided to give it the honor it is due. They have gotten rid of CARNAGE. It was not easy to do at all. They had to disassemble the world fragment. Then they had to bear the backlash of all the temporal displacement that they had caused in the kickstarter. This was 10 million years of backlash. Even a world god would be dealt a massive blow by that much power.

It was a pity that they couldn't control the temporal backlash. It was an unruly force of nature. They could only let it loose. They let it loose, and it destroyed everything around it. Legion-1 was implicated in this process. He couldn't escape it because he was the one designated to open the kickstarter. It was a pity that a random realm tree that was nearby was also implicated when the temporal backlash was unleashed. The realm tree had been close to Legion-1 when he opened the kickstarter, so it got severely damaged. It was the realm tree's fault really. It should have known not to come close to them at such a dangerous time. But it was ignorant and didn't know that it was dangerous, so it didn't move away from Legion-1. So the force of ten million years of temporal displacement tore through its barrier, its void, its planes, and its inner world.

The protection of the void universe didn't activate because this was a natural phenomenon. It was not a force that was controlled by anyone. Besides, Legion-1 also died during the attack, so there was no one to reflect the backlash onto. The only thing left was a crippled realm tree bleeding energy and getting poisoned by void energy. The rest of Legion did the reasonable thing. They waited until they were sure that the Will of the realm tree had truly weakened. Then they went in to put the realm tree out of its misery. It is just right that they do this nice thing since the destruction of the realm tree is partially their fault. It is mostly the fault of the realm tree since it didn't move away from Legion-1, but they thought it was a pity to let it suffer by dying slowly. While this was happening, Legion-3 had imbibed a world spark to start his evolution to world ender. With an abyss of his own, he didn't need to descend to the source of chaos energy like CARNAGE in order to complete his evolution. Legion-3 had also executed their plan by doing something to the kickstarter and CARNAGE. After he was done, Legion-8 had sent the kickstarter to the Serpentine world god using the aspect of space and the Supreme law of Viper Hegemony as targets.

Then he had wiped the comprehension of the Supreme Law from his mind using his spark of consciousness and used the aspect of Independence to hide. This ensured that the Serpentine world god couldn't track him using his knowledge of its Supreme law. Legion-1 resurrected a few seconds after. Together with the other seven clones, they began to build Legion-0. The incomplete Universal artifact that had fused with their world fragment was used as a base. Then it was fused with their Crown of Domination. They had to give up the Authority of the void universe that they had acquired, but it reinforced the incomplete universal artifact and ensured that it would be nearly indestructible. They needed this indestructibility and the harmony that the Crown of Domination grants despite having more than one type of power source. That harmony is of the utmost importance since they would be using 12 Supreme laws to complete the Universal Artifact, not one. Plus, the future clones of Legion will also have their own Supreme law. They didn't want these Supreme laws to clash. Instead, they wanted them to be subdued and used by Legion-0 to evolve just the way the Crown of Domination does. It wasn't easy to fuse the Crown of Domination and the Incomplete Universal artifact. But they managed it by using their aspect of Infection to infect and subdue the two of them. Then they used their spark of power to reforge the two into one.
