Chapter 149 • A Finn-tastical Way Of Fighting

Finn charged forward with remarkable speed, wielding his greatsword with skill, he had a dangerous look in his eyes. He leaped into the air, hoisting the massive blade over his head as he came crashing down with tremendous force. The impact caused the earth to erupt into spikes, which served as a powerful defense against the approaching roots.

From behind him, a root swiftly approached, but Finn was quicker. He turned with a swift motion, slashing his sword through the root. Another root emerged in front of him, and Finn reacted instantly. He stomped his feet firmly into the ground, causing a massive chunk of rock to burst from the earth. With a powerful punch, he sent the rocky projectile hurtling toward the root, shattering it.

"These roots are all over the place," Finn mumbled. He crouched slightly and propelled himself with astonishing force, leaving craters beneath where he stood. Continuously slashing through the roots as they swung at him, Finn noticed their speed was increasing.

"What's up with these things?" he wondered. "They seem to be getting faster and faster." He couldn't help but feel a growing sense of urgency as he battled the roots.

A root emerged directly beneath him, causing him to sidestep right. Another one sprouted beneath him again, prompting him to quickly step backward to the left. Then, a root came flying down, aiming to crush him, but he backflipped, skillfully dodging the attack as it created a massive crater on the ground.

Finn's agility and reflexes were being put to the test as he made his way trough the endless attacks of the roots.

Another root came sweeping in, far faster than the rest, nearly hitting Finn. He noticed it just in time, and with the back of his head almost touching the ground, he leaned back to narrowly evade the root. As he stood back up, Finn let out a sigh, a bead of sweat trickling down his forehead, and he said, "That was too close for comfort.

I don't know why, but I feel like this tree is learning how I fight and how to counter me... almost like it's intelligent." The situation was becoming increasingly ominous.

Finn then said, "Whatever, intelligent or not, I'm here to save my friend." He propelled himself forward, creating a massive crater in the ground with his sudden burst of speed. The roots shot forward at him with incredible velocity, seeming to break the sound barrier. As they clashed, a colossal shockwave rippled out, cracking the ground all around them. Finn mumbled in confusion, "What's going on?

My sword is no longer slashing through the roots anymore. They seem to have somehow hardened." He gritted his teeth, his muscles bulging and veins becoming visible as he struggled to make an impact.

Suddenly, unbeknownst to Finn, a cluster of roots with a metallic appearance emerged from beneath his feet. Their sharp tips pierced through his feet. "Ugh!" Finn exclaimed in pain as he turned his gaze to the roots below him, impaling his feet.

In pain, Finn gritted his teeth and muttered, "What the... When did it get there? Damm it." He felt the roots piercing through his feet, and the pain intensified with each moment. His eyes narrowed as he realized the serious situation he was in.

Suddenly, Finn's greatsword began to radiate with a brilliant, fiery red light, illuminating the battleground around him. The blade crackled with intense energy, it's edges seemed to sharpen, gleaming like molten steel. The sword felt alive in his hands, allowing him to slash trough the roots in front of him.

He swiftly turned his focus to the roots impaling his leg. He unleashed his greatsword in a dazzling display of skill and strength. Swinging it, each swing severed the roots with ease, and they fell to the ground, defeated. The air filled with the scent of scorched wood and a faint aroma of burning sap.

As the severed roots dropped to the earth, Finn leaped backward with agility and grace, distancing himself from the incoming roots. Still panting from the ordeal, he muttered, "Just as I thought, this tree is getting smart." Finn couldn't help but marvel at the growing intelligence of their massive opponent, as the battle to save Oliver intensified.

Finn stood up straight, holding his greatsword firmly in one hand, his grip tight and firm. He spoke with a serious tone, "The longer this battle drags out, the more disadvantageous it's going to be for us. We all have to finish the tree quickly and get to Oliver."

As he uttered these words, the fiery red aura surrounding his sword expanded, gradually covering his entire body. He appeared as though he were a manifestation of raw mana, a beacon of power in the chaos of the battlefield. His form radiated a brilliant, fiery light, casting a warm, ethereal glow around him.

In response to Finn's transformation, a barrage of metallic roots burst forth from the earth, hurtling toward him with astonishing speed. Finn simply smiled, a glimmer of confidence in his eyes. Holding his greatsword in one hand, his movements became a blur of lightning-fast actions. In the blink of an eye, he emerged on the other side of the roots.

Time seemed to stand still momentarily as the roots froze in place, unable to keep up with the swiftness of his movements.

In the blink of an eye, numerous cut marks materialized all over the metallic roots. Then, in a flash of a blinding light, the roots shattered into countless tiny cubes. And then it became obvious: in that split second, Finn swung his massive sword so fast he left behind a series of cuts that sliced the roots apart over and over till nearly nothing remained.

At least a thousand cuts, if not more, had dissected the roots into fragments nearly resembling dust. It was a proof of Finn's incredible skill and power, leaving behind only the remnants of what was once a powerful opponent.
