Chapter 2480 Choose A God

Chapter 2480  Choose A God

"After the tournament? Why do you ask that?"

Alex was weirded out by the question as he couldn't imagine a reason for asking it.

"I just need to know," Windborn said. "I need to know what you plan to make my decision on whether to give you the ring or not. You can choose to not answer."

"No, it's alright," Alex said. "It's not as though I have anything to hide. The thing is, I don't really have many plans about my future. The thing I want to do the most after the tournament and every ceremony afterward is find my family."

"Your family?" Windborn asked with a curious look. "You do not know where they are?"

Alex nodded. "I had a cousin who ascended before me and took my family with them. I chose to stay behind because I had something to do. We never realized that there would be so many Immortal realms out here, so now I have to search for them."

Windborn's face grew somber. "Do you know where they are? Or have any idea where to look for them?"

"At this point, I'm hoping they will find me instead. They should learn about me soon enough after the tournament results spread throughout every other Immortal realm."

Windborn nodded. "So you are quite confident in your accomplishment in the upcoming competition."

Alex shrugged. "I have to be."

"Will you be leaving Medicine World then? I would imagine it would be better to stay here and wait for them to reach you," Windborn said.

"I will leave. I cannot be sure that they have the funds to purchase the ticket to get here. So I'll go search for them in other worlds myself," Alex said.

"Will you be leaving with a God by any chance?" Windborn asked. "I saw that the War God was quite surprised by your potential, and you talked about something at the end there. Did he recruit you by any chance?"

Alex paused for a moment. "Brother Windborn, that should be none of your concern. Whether I was or wasn't recruited by any god, what does that have to do with my alchemy talent and the tournament?"

Windborn took a second to consider it all and nodded. "My apologies. I shouldn't have asked that. I do want to ask what you would do if you were given the chance to work under the Alchemy God. Say you were being recruited by every single god, would you choose the Alchemy God, or do you have any other god in mind that you would want to work under?"

Alex narrowed his eyes for a moment. Disregarding the intent behind the question itself, he did find the question quite thought-provoking. If all gods asked him to come under them, would he go work under anyone?

"Are we simply speaking of joining their cult, or am I to consider discipleship under them?" Alex asked.

Windborn shrugged. "How about both? One is a simple offer to join, and the other is an offer to become their disciple. Which one would you take?"

Alex fell into some thought. "The main issue with this question is that I do not know that many gods. I only know so many of them, and choosing from them is difficult."

"Still, you should have some thoughts on who it is better to join," the man said. "And please don't say no one. Do choose one. Anyone."

Alex nodded. "If I cannot answer none, then I have an idea. If I am just to work under someone, then I will most likely choose the Sky God," he said.

"The Sky God?" Windborn raised an eyebrow. "Why her?"

Alex shrugged. "From all I have heard of the Sky God, she is the one with the most influence out of all. I do not know how to explain it, but the way people talk about the Sky God makes me think she is the head of all the gods. So, working under the Sky God should be the best choice I can go for here."

He turned toward the Divinity next to the wall. "What do you think, senior?"

The Divinity thought for a moment and nodded. "The Sky God is certainly a valid choice. Someone else you can choose is my own lord, the Formation Monarch, or Her Majesty, the Artifact God. Although, those two are just so you can earn more. Their influence reaches every place, and they get work all the time."

Alex nodded. "I'm not looking for anything specific at the moment, so that would be my answer." He turned back to Windborn.

Windborn considered the answers and nodded. "I can see merit in choosing the Sky God. Then, if you were to get discipleship from any god, who would you choose?"

Alex didn't have to think this time around. "The Sword God."

The answer took Windborn by surprise. "I'm sorry… the Sword God? Not the Alchemy God?" he asked.

"I already have a great alchemy master. I don't think I will need to become his disciple to learn any more," Alex said. "But I will have a lot to learn, should I become the Sword God's disciple."

Windborn was fascinated by the choice. "Is that a hobby, or are you an actual swordsman?" he asked.

"I did not put the word 'blade' in my name for no reason."

"Huh… interesting," Windborn said. "What if you were given the opportunity by the Alchemy God? Would you reject it?"

Alex paused. "I don't know," he said. "It will depend on the scenario I'm in, really. If there is an advantage to becoming the Alchemy God's disciple. As I said, I am already a disciple to my master Silvermist, so there must be something great for me to receive from the Alchemy God to choose him."

"But you aren't totally against it, are you?" the man asked.

"So long as I don't have to reject my current master, I can see myself joining the Alchemy God to benefit myself."

Windborn smiled. "You are the first one to not jump at the possibility of the opportunity. Aethersage might have been the same, but I never got to ask him that question."

Alex raised an eyebrow. "So you've asked everyone this very question before?"

"Everyone. And all of them immediately say that they will take discipleship under the Alchemy God. They don't even consider any other gods, in fact. Even without my prompting, they take his name."

Alex smiled. "That's understandable. It is the Alchemy God, after all. The one person whose height they wish to reach. The best way to get there is to learn from him directly."

"I believe so too," Windborn said and sighed. "That is all the questions I had for the interview. I will consider your answers and make my decision in a few days' time."

"Oh, it's over?" Alex had been expecting a few more questions. "So can I assume that I haven't been immediately rejected?"

Windborn chuckled. "No, you haven't. You are, in fact, first on my list. However, I still need to interview Leafheart and Dusklily before I make the decision. I believe their interviews will be concluded in three more days, so once I'm done with both of them, I will immediately make my decision."
