Chapter 180 Relic conundrum Part 1
Chapter 180 Relic conundrum Part 1
After the wonderful weekend with his friends, Uriel was feeling refreshed. Spending time with his friends did wonders to ease all of his worries and he felt life couldn't get any better. That was, at least, until Nika volunteered to take him to college in her brand new bike.
"How did you even pay for this?"
"My bank account isn't frozen anymore."

"Then why didn't you pay rent or..."
"Do you want a lift or not?" She glared at him and Uriel nodded silently.
Now that he was an ascended and also possessed Water warlock's blessing, he wasn't scared of Nika's reckless driving anymore. He had his suspicions that even if they crashed at high speed against a wall, he would be able to recover from that within seconds, though he still wore the helmet Nika handed to him just to be safe.
He straddled on top of the beautiful black bike and passed his hands under the seat trying, unsuccessfully, to find something to hold onto.
"Is there anything to hold onto?" Uriel asked.
"That'd be my waist, but don't let your hands wander too much. Well, it's ok if it's just a little." She said flirtatiously and immediately turned on the engine. Her driving was truly as reckless as it was fast, but this time Uriel enjoyed every second of it.
There was a certain allure in motorcycles that cars lacked. Cars were way more useful, but Uriel found out that when riding in the backseat of the bike he was able to see the world through different eyes. Every passerby, every smell, everything felt lifelike and close. It was as though he was running at high speed across the busy streets of his city.
Upon arriving at the college, Nika dropped him off at the entrance and went inside by herself as they didn't want to be seen together like that to avoid any rumors.
The first thing he did was to head to the male dorms to drop off his clean clothes for the week but as soon as he entered he was greeted by one of his former classmates who told him that Professor Pangiotis had been trying to contact him but he didn't have his number.
Judging by the tone of the student Uriel realized it had to be something extremely important and headed to Pangiotis office in a rush, though what he found there left him in a daze.
"Ah! You're finally here!" Pangiotis stood up to greet Uriel. The office was crowded by students and professors, everyone was at the top on the social sciences faculty. "Come here, we got our hands in a wonderful artifact and we need all the help we can get."
"This is an Apache tribal dress!" Uriel exclaimed in glee. Not just because of the immense cultural value such an artifact possessed, but also because of the faint flux energy signature emitted from the buckskin attire which allowed him to immediately recognize it as one of the relics needed to open the dungeon.
"Wonderful!" Pangiotis exclaimed, then he opened the palm of his hand and several professors handed him some credits. "I bet you would recognize it immediately!" He chuckled.
'So close and yet, so far.' Uriel thought inwardly as he fought the impulse to click his tongue. The relic was within his grasp, but he couldn't take it for himself without causing too much trouble.
"What else can you tell us about this object?" Pangiotis tentatively asked. While it was true that Uriel was, by far, the most qualified student he ever had, his hopes of learning something he couldn't figure out by himself weren't that high. Anyhow, it was an all hands on deck situation and he didn't lose anything by showing it to students.
"Professor Pangiotis, I don't think I can say anything about it," Uriel said triggering the usual disappointed face to appear on the professor's face, but he then continued speaking. "Not in front of so many people."
Pangiotis eyes widened. If there was even a slight chance that Uriel could find out anything, he needed to take it.
"Everyone, go. Go now! What are you waiting for!? Leave!" He ushered everyone outside and even poked people that were slow on their feet. Every professor present was an expert on their current field of study and they wouldn't allow such disrespectful treatment by any other person than Pangiotis himself as he was the only one who exceeded their accomplishments by far. "Please, continue."
"Yes," Uriel nodded. He was oddly calm, just a few months ago he was terrified of even speaking to Professor Pangiotis and now he replied casually like it was nothing. "First, I know I said it's an Apache tribal wear, but it's actually far older than anything made by the Apache. In fact, it predates the existence of the Apache people and perhaps it also predates humanity as a species."
"What kind of flat earthist nut theory are you spilling out? I kicked everyone out for this!" Pangiotis stood up in anger and was about to nag at him but then he realized the determined look on Uriel's face.
"I can prove it, but I need a flux orb. Any beast level orb will do."
"We don't have any of those in this faculty, I'll have to make a few calls to the engineering department. I would point out that this needs to remain a secret, but it seems you are already aware of it." By pointing out that he didn't need to tell him to keep it a secret Pangiotis was doing exactly that and Uriel didn't miss the irony behind his words.
Frenzied, Pangiotis started calling people on speaker while at the same time texting frantically. Uriel knew he wouldn't be allowed to do the same, but fortunately for him he didn't need to because he could use his smartphone even while it was stored in his museum.
He started texting Nika, Medusa, Sam and Luna to warn them that the last relic had been found and he was standing right in front of it. At that point he didn't care whether or not their cellphones had been bugged but he still took a small precaution and sent a seemingly harmless text message to his friends.
Uriel: I'm at the social sciences faculty having a great time!
Nika understood what he meant as the only thing that would cause him to feel that way was to study an ancient artifact. Sam didn't know what to make of the message, but at the time he received the message he was with Medusa who, driven by a hint of curiosity and a bunch of jealousy, headed towards there.
Luna's case was different, though, as she always kept her cellphone on silence. In fact, she would only check her phone three days later after wondering why did her friends stopped annoying her out of a sudden.
